Since watching your videos I've had a bidet installed and my boyfriend sewed over 140 or so reusable toilet paper squares. I do still buy TP for those who are a bit finicky about the eco-friendly tushy life. Now, I can switch to eco-friendly TP, confidently! Thank you! 😊
Great video! I haven't tried Who Gives A Crap, but I have tried four other eco-friendly toilet paper brands. They have all been superior to conventional toilet paper [and I was a Charmin and Sam's Club brand toilet paper user]. I do prefer recycled toilet paper versus bamboo, because you can find the products manufactured in the USA. Bamboo so far is only manufactured in China, which does increase shipping emissions. Either way, I believe you're winning with either option.
After your last video on this subject, where you mentioned supporting the recycling industry by buying recycled options, I switched my WGAC order from bamboo to recycled. Nobody else in my house even noticed. Another point: I like the delivery as I’m disabled and it means I don’t have to get bulky loo roll from the grocery store. Plus, in March 2020, WGAC was one of the only places in the U.K. that didn’t run out of stock. I had plenty of people who were very grateful for the fact that I order from WGAC when I was able to share my supply with them.
I use a bamboo version outside the USA and they offer a paper wrap free option. I get that for my home use because it is not necessary for me but admit I'm jealous of people who get the pretty paper 🤣. Thanks for the video
I wouldn't say that the bamboo is as soft as Charmin (which is too soft for me after using WGAC) but it's softer than store brand imo. One other good thing about the delivery model is that I actually learn how much my household uses, which is way less than most households ig? It's only 2 of us but the large box has lasted about a year. Thinking about switching from bamboo to recycled for our next box.
Yeah the recycled paper toilet paper is definitely softer. I’ve noticed since our last order it’s so soft I was so confused and excited. They have definitely improved it feels like the name brand ones at the store!
Good video. I think there was a time when eco-friendly toilet paper left a lot to be desired, but things have changed considerably. Videos like this help to dispel the ideas that people might have formed in the past and hopefully will encourage more people to make the switch. Completely off topic, as someone who lived in Japan, I thought you might be interested in a small video broadcast on NHK (available on RU-vid) titled: 'Green Mountain Grandma - Zero Waste Life'. It features a wonderfully eccentric lovely woman who moved to the countryside and strives to live a zero-waste life. I hope you enjoy it if you watch it.
I never thought toilet paper was so wasteful! Sadly i don't live in the US and i am pretty sure the companies there don't ship to Finland, so what would be some thing to look for in the toilet paper in a regular supermarket (like color, if it is recyclable ect)?
best of luck finding an option near you! Look for packaging (paper vs plastic), what is it made of (trees, bamboo, recycled), and how far did it take to get to your supermarket for starters
Who Gives a Crap is also in the U.K., so it is possible that it is in the rest of Europe too, though I don’t know specifically about Finland. (Sorry for the lateness of this comment)
