What an awesome concept and I think it's fantastic to start a business where it gives some of the proceeds specifically to a real problem in the world that really will make a difference in solving some basic issues. I am glad you guys made your goal and it feels great to see people get inspired and get behind an awesome idea. Gives me more faith in humanity! Forgive me if you've already answered this question - but will it be in stores? If yes, do you have a time frame of when, and which stores?
Hi Adam. Under Australia tax law charities are not allowed to provide anything in exchange for a donation - a 'perk' would be a breach of tax law, and a charity providing a 'perk' would lose their deductible grift receipt (as required for tax deductible donations) status. We can't control that there is an option for people to make a contribution without claiming a perk. We're not asking for people to do this (or encouraging them) - that's why we're offering perks.
If you have a competitive price and product, I'm not against buying the product. The problem is in the requests for donating and appearing to be a charity. How many companies require donations to start up? "It's as simple as that. We take something that everybody needs, and use the proceeds to help people in need." Do you think when people here that they think they're donating to your back pocket? (Regardless of how you invest the money, that is the effect through shareholder equity)
Was just about to start a free trial on your website but I can't because I live in Germany and the banks don't provide proper cards like Visa or Mastercard debit cards (unless you sign up for a credit card) - meaning that I can't pay on your site with my bank card 😕
Hey Adam, we're actually not expecting to make any money off this first order... it's all going into the business. WaterAid know that, and we're not hiding it. We're not a charity, we're a business. And if we're successful we'll be doing a whole lot more good than every other toilet paper company in the world.

Hi Adam. We hope that people don't think they're 'donating to a charity' when they're pre-ordering product from us, that would mean the point we're trying to get across has been lost.
It asks people to "contribute now" (sounds a lot like donate to me) and if you contribute large amounts you get a perk, as opposed to making an order for toilet paper e.g. if you donate $5 you can claim a thank-you tweet. This is similar to the perk system offered by some charities. You also have an option for making a contribution with no perk. That IS a donation. Don't you think this could appear to some contributors to be a charity rather than a for-profit business?

If you want that guy's toilet paper, give him money. If you think this is cool because he gives 50% to waterAid, then instead of giving him something that will be divided in 2 for WaterAid, give it directly to waterAid so they get 100%.
Please : Just dont put an ad in front of your pitch. Otherwise this is legendary. People still watch this video to engage with your brand not to see a video of another brand.

I agree. One of the problems with this is it seems like you're giving money to charity but really 50% of the donation you make is going straight into his back pocket. I hope your comment stays up. It looks like my previous comment on the issue got deleted.
Jennifer, the problem is some people may have been making donations to this company thinking that it is a charity. WGAC has received a lot of publicity for Simon sitting on a toilet to raise money for charity, when in fact it is raising money for a business. This is a serious problem. You're right, he has at least been trying to actually respond to my comments and questions rather than resolve to random personal attacks. Some people aren't quite so respectful.
I don't know why people are making a big deal about this. What's so bad about a group of people trying to help the less fortunate by selling something we literally wipe our arses with?
The ad you are running right now that makes note of ONE person creating 29 TP plastic wrapper waste (and shows multipack plastic) needs to contact the person who used the TP.....they have an issue they need to see a doctor about. No one goes through 29 multipacks of TP in one year (never mind even 29 single rolls) unless they have a digestion issue
You're referring to tax deductible charities. Not all charities are tax deductible in Australia. Do you think that any of your contributors might think they're donating to a charity?
If that's your aim, you're better off investing money and donating the profits each year. It would provide the same profit except 100% would go to charity.
