Love your setup. You pretty much have it covered. The only thing I would add would be about 10 wraps of 1" gorilla tape to the Bic. I saw you had the duck tape on the card and that is good too, but gorilla is much better for repairs, binding, patching and of course firestarting. I love the Klein tool. I will definitely grab one of those and the Neiko sockets....awesome. Thanks for sharing.

I love the SWAT-T not only for the reasons you gave but it's multifunctional. Odds of needing it as a tourniquet are probably low (but good to have)...but odds I could roll my ankle going for a walk are probably more likely and this can come in handy for that too. It'll also be an improvised arm wrap, can be used with a stick as a splint, and can hold a bandage on kind of like you showed. It's crazy the versitility of a wide stretchy band. I also like how it has instructions very big and clear on it so if I'm incapacitated and someone with no knowledge finds it I'd wager they have a better chance figuring that out versus doing a CAT without ever seeing one before.

@14:01 These kind of dipped handles on the cobra will NOT protect you from live electrical circuits because they are supposed to provide just grip. There are other models of cobras that are 1000 volts rated (10k volts tested). Don’t know if any one else on the comments pointed this out, even if so, still it needs to be addressed as it is a major safety issue. Other than that great video! Have a great one from Greece!

Have you considered a tailor's measuring tape as a replacement for your measuring tape? It's lightweight, supercompact, made of fiberglass-vinyl, completely flexible so you can fold it to fit very small pockets, it wraps around things, and in a pinch, it can be used as cordage or even to tie up gauze around a wound, and it has metric and imperial measurements. I also recommend a small package of sugar to go in the pocket with your coffee and vitamins. You never know when someone diabetic might be having a crash. It can be life-saving and it's like 5 grams and less than an inch for a life-saving item. Plus, it can go on your coffee.

A really well thought-out EDC kit. I'm curious on the final overall weight? You have two items I want/need to add: a Swat-T (sp?) and the Klein ratchet. My two recommendations would be a pair of disposable med gloves [more to keep someone else from freaking out vs. My own safety if there is blood involved] and 4 zip ties. 2 each of two different sizes. Great vid!

As often as I need a flashlight, which is not often. I went with the Mini Mag, 127 luman light, and put a but cap switch on it. Plus a Light diffusing cone. I've carried a Gerber for so long that its now a part of me. Plus, it opens with one hand, and has full size pliers. If I need small pliers, I have those on my Swiss Army Deluxe Tinker knife. When I'm on my bike, I have a first aid kit and tool kit. To date, and I am 61 years old. That's been my kit of choice. Never needed much of anything else. I will get one of those wrenches that open taps, on the sides of commercial buildings, plus a small flask type canteen. Other then that. Its all good.

Good kit with a lot of quality gear, I find that with the tools for edc a lot if very situational depending on your line of work and what you use most frequently. For me, I've really slimmed down my edc a lot over the past year, taking a much more minimal approach. I take mental note of what I use day to day and if I never use it, it gets tossed from the edc rotation.

That's an impressive kit you've put together for yourself, Aaron. It's definitely well thought out. I can now see how I can improve mine. That bag is really cool. I have to say, in terms of functionality and tool set, the Charge w/G10 definitely works better for me than the ARC. G'day Aaron, EDC is always a fantastic subject for a vid, ...... the clue is in the acronym, i.e. it's an "everyday" concern ; ) Anyway, that's a shipload of capability ......... in a dinghy ; ) and makes perfect sense for multiple pack choices. Great stuff mate !!!!! Personally I use a dedicated EDC backpack, so size/weight is less of an issue for grab and go and of course facilitates clothing, food, water etc etc, i.e. the lot is already in there. + if you need to walk away from your vehicle, you can carry some extra from the vehicle kit if required. Btw; poncho = tarp if need be. Nice torch for the application, I think the first time I've seen where a propriety battery doesn't matter at all. Pleased to see the Niteze headstrap getting a gig, I dont bother with a headtorch for EDC. Must get a couple of their ties too, great little stand there mate, and of course other uses as well. I dont do multi tools, they're only good for bug out bags IMO, (though in fairness a bug out scenario "could" happen at anytime). Instead, I carry; Linesman's pliers, 6 in. half round metal file, Silky Pocketboy, Kingchrome ratchet screwdriver handle, (common "internal drive" bits stored in the handle), and in lieu of "external drive" sockets, a 6 in. adjustable spanner, (what we call a "shifter"). And I reckon those Knipex, (what we call "multigrips") are a very worthy carry. Must say that little boxcutter is a winner also. I always include a relatively small fixy of some description, even if its just a Mora. Oh yeah, a bit more of a prepper tool, but I reckon a silcox key is a must for it's size and weight, it can certainly be the difference between water ......... and no water. I do get on very well with paracord, though yeah, No. 36 bankline is enough for EDC IMO, and I dont go anywhere without a few carabiners too. Both a BIC and a ferro rod are mandatory IMO, together with the ol' vas impregnated cotton balls, (you can squash 20 odd in a film container). These 3 weigh next to nothing and guarantee many a fire with half decent kindling and fuel. I do like a bit more tape, so many uses; Gorilla or similar, and I throw in electrical tape too (+ med tape in the FAK). Amazing how many times I've had cause to use a little Fatmax, (2 meter jobs here). I've got 'em in packs, my vehicle and around the house. For a coupla knicker each, they'd have to be the best value "tool" one can buy. Cheers Duke.

Bic lighters are a single use piece of plastic. Once the gas runs out, they are tossed away and become another piece of the plastic problem on planet Earth. Clipper lighters do the same job as Bic lighters, but they are refillable with gas and new flints can be added. I have a Clipper lighter in my pack that I have owned for more than 25 years. I feel the same way. I used to have Zippos for EDC but found it extremely annoying having to refill them every few days. That’s why I moved to Bics. Didn’t have the same problem as Zippos. Also, when comparing how much you can light with a single refill of a Zippo and a Bic; Bic wins all the time. They aren’t completely sealed, though. And evaporate after around a year, so I replace mine annually. Still much better than Zippos, though. Bics are more in line with the KISS principle which I try to follow all the time.

Do you actually carry this kit or does it live in your car? Having a kit you can grab in one go is nice, but if you have the space I’d throw in a few more essentials. Water, a jacket or blanket, extra pair of shoes and socks. Maybe even some food. Tow strap would also be a good idea. I haven’t had to tow a car with one yet, but it worked great for helping to lift a disabled person without hurting them.

I use it quite a bit for quick things like cutting a wire or zip tie, turning a bolt, turning a screw, etc. If I have a bigger task like working on a pump, blower, motor, vehicle, etc I have a work truck loaded with tools that are way better for those types of tasks. I am a water / wastewater treatment operator so there are a lot of things that I do that a small tool kit just doesn’t cut it. I do, however, have a get home bag in my truck as well with extra EDC items plus survival gear and a trauma medical kit.

I totally use my little rachet (different brand) and have been very happy to have it on several occasions. As an EMT, I would suuuuuuper recommend some nitrile gloves as an addition to your ifak. You never know what someone else may be carrying with them on their insides or what you may introduce of your own or the environment that you've been touching, to their insides. I also carry swat t tourniquets. I've not had the need to use one, but it's good to know that they have performed from a reliable source. I've been watching you for probably 8 or 9 years at this point and I always appreciate your thoughts on the gear you use and how you incorporate it. Thanks!

Really great kit! I personally prefer to have a couple smaller kits: one with tools, one with electronics and another general edc gear etc. Just because for me, I don't always need the tools where I'm going, for example. I also bought a set of wired earbuds and keep in my kit. It's nice to just grab and not worrying if they're charged.
