So you want an electric radiator fan for your old car or truck but there isn't enough space? Don't think you can fit an electric radiator fan and shroud behind your radiator? Well there's an alternative - the pusher fan. When installed correctly these fans can provide excellent performance while freeing up extra room in your engine bay.
In this video we ditch the fixed mechanical fan on my 1964 Mercury Comet and install a pusher type fan from Be Cool Radiators before heading to the dyno for final tuning and power pulls.
Fixed fans rob power and the amount can be staggering. For $190 we install a Be Cool single electric SPAL fan and Be Cool wiring harness. I'll take you step by step through disassembly, fan mock up, and final wiring and have your engine running cooler and making more power in no time.

Can you make a video doing 60-130 dragy pulls with the different boost levels you have?

It’s DC - just reverse the wires and install it on the inside of the bay. You can even reverse the fan blades.

Wont fit on the inside of the engine bay without a shorter neck water pump and completely different pulley system.

@@truckandroll989 Ah! I feel your pain regardless - I have a 496 BBC in my 66 Chevelle with serpentine beltdrive and boyyyyyyyyyy I had to get a custom made radiator with the same electric fans you have. Both combined could only consume 5.5". Luckily a short water pump but still I like what you did. Just throwing some things I went through originally.

@@JakeToolson ive got another video with dual Derale fans on a BBC in a C10. It wound up working great. Luckily the SBF doesnt need as much cooling capacity

Nice modern mod to save space and HP. But ... my guess is 320 RWHP is a no. Hope I'm wrong, but I'd guess more around 286ish?? I think the Victor Jr will hurt you a bit even looking as purdy as it does. Should be a fun ride though at 2900 lb.

Hi, never seen anyone use a brass tee nor has it been suggested to me as an option when you’re out of ports! Does it work, fan comes on and off as it should? I take it the other probe is a temperature sensor… is it working correctly? For some reason I was thinking the probe wouldn’t be in the coolant, but there I go thinking again 😂

Aside from maybe aesthetics (i.e., brass fitting on an aluminum intake) it works great. So long as it’s the correct NPT thread it really doesnt matter whether you use brass, aluminum, steel, etc. On this setup both are coolant temperature but one is for my gauge inside the car on the dash and the second for the electric fan. You could use a similar approach with oil if you only had one tap but needed to know pressure and temperature.

@@truckandroll989 hey man,you are on to something, on my Chevy my intake only has one port for my temp, the radiator probe was inconsistent, I’m in the head right now but too hot, fan stays on. I was going to cut my upper radiator hose and use one of those adapters but don’t really like the look. Spent hours and hours searching for a solution then Walla! I seen your video and thought that might work! Your fan is coming on and off like it should?
@truckandroll989
@truckandroll989 Месяц назад
@@daves485 yes fan comes on and off like it should. Another plus is I know my fan set temp and my gauge temp are consistent since I can watch my dash gauge and listen for the fan.

Thanks, I really think it helped and it has been doing a good job of controlling temps. Ultimately id love a fiberglass hood with some vents

@@truckandroll989 there goes the sleeper look ... but, I'm sure you could loose a hundred pounds by switching to fiberglass 🤔 then again a 427 sbf create motor would be a lot of fun too ...
