I watched while eating my fatty salad. 😄When he said the number one thing to change is to be kind, I burst into tears. It was like salve for my soul. My life philosophy and work is to stand for and with people until they can stand on their own. Having a kind and compassionate mindset can literally change your health and your own life as well as the lives of others. Well done, you!!!

The most important ingredients here are beacon and eggs. "Leafy green vegetables (both kale and spinach), as well as olive oil, are recommended as part of a healthy diet." (When in fact heathy saturated fats are better for people with Alzheimer's.) 6 cups kale, very thinly sliced, about 1/2 large bunch, tough stems removed2 hard-boiled eggs, coarsely chopped2 slices center-cut bacon2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil1/2 cup onion, chopped1 1/2 cups button mushrooms, sliced2 tablespoons red wine vinegar2 teaspoons whole-grain mustard1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper1/8 teaspoon salt

Don't mean to nitpick with my comment. I want to say that I hope the day comes soon where reporting useful information to the public with compassion and kindness DOESN'T inherently minimize the information's credibility or veracity. They can coexist. Just because the information WASNT reported in an emotionless, robotic voice or demeanor doesn't mean it's not informed.

My grandma though and my dad are very poor sleepers, however my grandma now is 96 and her cognitive performance is still so good, she could pick up a phone and ring a person without looking at the phone book, still have great sense of humor..., my dad is also similar , he is 78 without any chronic diseases, very mentally competent...I m hoping to be half as good as they are when i get to their ages, unfortunately i also inherited their bad sleeping genes!

Thank you so much... I'm 67 and appreciate this wonderful information. I'm a vegetarian and worry about the food needs of my brain. Thank you Max for being a sensitive loving son with you mother. I have a millennium too. I always thought it was her Cancer birth sign control tendencies. My husband of 28 years died in my arms 2 1/2 years ago from a fatal heart attack. It was all there... non insulin dependent diabetes, history of Parkinson's in his father, and eating red meat and fried foods too much. At one time Levi was a long distance runner, beautiful body and his decline happened so quickly beginning in his late forties. It is really all about diet, sleep, exercise. I believe it was devoted practice of meditation that prolonged his life. I really beat up on myself for not strapping him down to eat an healthier diet and understanding today what I didn't understand more clearly then . Not just about diet but about love and relationships. Blessings to Tom Bilyeu and Max Lugavere for an excellent interview!

I love how this show always touches on microbiome. Eating greens with fat cannot be replaced by any other food choices. But I did expect him to vary the fat sources. Since oil is not the only way of getting fat. Cup of lentils or 5 walnuts have a tablespoon oil amount of fat (~13.5 g, extracted ~40 olives). Of course when the data is on olive oil, applying the info to other nutrients can be risky. But since we require so much more data on testing different nutrient sources to be exactly sure, we have to delicately work with information meanwhile. Because there are also studies on oil not being a healthy choice. Thanks for the show Tom, it's great to see different health subjects being discussed

The human body is truly amazing! So grateful for these Health Theory episodes that feed my curiosity so readily. On a side note, I'm finding it absolutely fascinating that the guests of Health Theory, when asked what one change people can do to make an impact in their life, are making recommendations that are not immediately related to the reason they are on the show (not that it's not all connected, it's just not necessarily related to the episode's "theme"'). Curious to see if the trend continues in future episodes :) Max Lugavere - Episode "What to Eat to Improve Your Memory", Impact: Be kind Naveen Jain - Episode "This Is The Root of All Chronic Disease", Impact: Become intellectually curious Suzanne Ryan - Episode "How Mindset Helps You Battle Obesity", Impact: Invest in yourself Emeran Mayer - Episode "Why Your Gut Is Your Second Brain", Impact: Exercise Shawn Stevenson - Episode "Why Sleep Is More Important Than Diet", Impact: Surround yourself with healthy people Mark Sisson - Episode "Why The Keto Diet Will Change Your Life", Impact: change the way the world eats to improve health worldwide (asked for what impact he wants to make on the world, not personal impact)

I totally agree, however millennials are not the only generation to start trying to take control of our health and get answers or there wouldn't be a lot of the answers out there to find, my Mom before I was born (I was born in 1965) was told my Dad would die in 6 months of lymph gland cancer and because she was able to read and study what others were researching my Dad lived until I was 29. Thank you so much for helping others become aware of the need to find answers for themselves and doing so much research, I appreciate it

I would love to connect and chat with this guy. I just, turned 57 two weeks ago, to the day, from typing this comment, and on the inside, I'm still, very much, 18 to 20 years old, having not changed at all, really. But on the outside; well, my body is doing what it's going to do anyway. It's ageing. I'm trying to slow that down every which way I can think of, but it's ageing regardless. Dementia above and beyond everything else, is the thing that scares me most. My whole life, I've had trouble with concentration and focusing, now it's to the point where I fear sometimes, that I may be in the early stages of this utterly, horrid and totally, inhuman decease after all. Currently, I don't have a family doctor, so have no way of getting things checked out on a regular basis. I want to do everything within my power to keep from ever, getting this devil decease, so that my mind can stay sharp and young til I draw my very, last breath. I don't think it's Millennials alone, who feel entitled to answers, but everyone at any age, in this day and age. I'm now, one year younger than this fellow's mom was when she began showing signs of this decease, and that's a little scary if I'm to be honest. Much Love and Warmest Wishes. Be Well and Safe. Out. 🥰🤗🖐🏼😔

You also should ALWAYS have your fasting insulin level taken. It's more important than the other two, and yet few doctors know to get it. The brain does not have to have glucose, which is why it's ability to access sugar over time reduces. It never loses the ability to use ketones, though. One way to make it easier to cut down on starches, is to cook your pasta's, potatoes, rice, then, when it's cooked, let it cool, and rest cold then re-heat. This has been shown to reduce available starches, because they "gelatinise" or more accurately form crystals, which the body has no use for, but they are great probiotic food for gut bacteria. And about the advice to "be kind", yes, very wise and good advice.. Recent research has shown that the "good" chemicals we make when we feel good because someone did something nice for us - they also are made in the body of the person doing the nice thing. So - next time, if you see someone having to beg - give them something. Not only does it do them good and is kind but it also is good for you.

When I introduced myself to YT comments, I was astonished at the world we live in where 90% of commenters open with harsh opposition, followed by classifying you as a Democrat, then closing with a sophomoric hurtful insult. Unreal! Who ever trained them that this is the way to treat people?! Be kind. 🙏

Very awesome video! I'm so proud of you both for making an "impact" in the world with your work. What great value people like you bring into the wounded world we now live in, providing healing solutions to common problems we face today. I hopefully am also on the path to provide value like you guys do, got to start somewhere! By the way, aside from the great content, I'll be sharing this video tomorrow because of the clean language! Also, it is my opinion that God is influencing many people like you guys to spread knowledge to help empower individuals with greater willpower and fulfillment by living true principles that bring the fulfillment. Health is one of the three most important things we need in life, the other two being, mindset and spirituality. Thanks again!

There’s a great little book on natural healing written by an older man who cured himself of a number of maladies without medical intervention, called My Physician, Myself. I read it a couple of years ago but lost my copy. I’m going to Amazon right now to order one and be more careful with it. It’s more than worth the read. You might look into the work of Luigi Cornaro, a Venetian nobleman who lived to be 102.

Just like this young man I had spend a great amount of years studying proper nutrition to stay healthy without the interference of any doctor… As a result of that I have reduced the consumption of gluten and dairy to 5% Dash I have quit Meat 20 years ago . And I have introduced green juices and plenty of appropriate supplements for my energy level and cognitive strength. As a designer and a creative person I need my intellectual abilities to be top shape regardless of what age I reach And I would like to make a comment about olive oil - the only oil that I consume is extra-virgin olive oil and I pour 23 tablespoons over my salad if it doesn’t have olive oil it is tasteless for me… However I also need to mention here that olive oil is so good for many other things that it is anti-inflammatory even when you make a poultice of it on an injured knee or an injured wrist or anything you can massage it put a poultice of olive oil wrap it up in a few hours you will see a dramatic alleviation of the inflammation is disappeared and you feel better already… The great fan of extra virgin olive oil. Make sure you guys take FIRST COLD PRESS. That is when it is Most powerful. And another observation from an unrelated source the Middle Eastern countries use extra-virgin olive oil to instead of baby cream.

I'm a bit late commenting. But I'll just state I would love to hear more about the relationship of cholesterol and brain health. I'm not the researcher Max is, but I've noticed that people on statins tend to experience dementia-like symptoms (brain fog, memory, energy issues). Not to mention the damage statins do to muscle fiber and how it drains your body of CoQ10.
