Rather than do a typical review of the ModMic, I thought I would take it upon me to do a shootout between the V-moda Boompro and the Antlion ModMic 4.0. And I was surprised that both these mics sounded phenomenal, I really couldn't say one was definitively better than the other. Though I think if your headphones already have a 3.5mm inlet jack (or a 6mm, just use an adapter), then the Vmoda is a no brainer at $30, and will condense it into one cable. Though if you headset has proprietary inputs (think Sennhesier, some AT models), then the ModMic will essentially be a great solution to turn those headphones into a gaming headset, albeit you will be running an additional cable.
You can pick up the ModMic 4.0 here for $50: www.modmic.com/...
Or amazon here - amzn.to/2bJKje7
You can pick up the V-moda here at amazon for $30: amzn.to/2brWZnM
Also FWIW I tested the Shure $90 XLR mobile mic and that lost to the V-moda in audio quality...
