Aren’t guys just the best? I’m so appreciative of my husband - he is amazing when I do things like your truck. And he never yells at me-just fixes it and laughs. Goes on to do other stuff. Blessings
He is totally use to me doing silly things. For the most part he just shakes his head and moves on! I wouldn’t trade him for anything except maybe a well bred goat or something! Lol
Another great video. Beautiful footage and I always enjoy your humor. Looking forward to seeing how the Ruth Stout method works for you guys. We're still doing some experimenting as well to figure out what works best up here in the hills. Oh, and I really like your fence with the sticks also. Very cool.
Looking forward to the planting. I have horses and always have trash hay. I have used it as a mulch and it works great. If it starts to sprout I just take my hand rake and disturb the tender sprouts or rake em out. I've grown some beautiful plants in it. Handsome horse BTW ♥
Wife and Mother of the awesome variety haha that was good. Hopefully that hay breaks down a little faster than normal and makes some great soil for you to plant it.
Luckily, there is a little bit of good topsoil and some broken down wood chips under the hay, so maybe it'll get a good jump start and the hay can be used more as a mulch if necessary.
Ruth Stout method is one of my favorite wasy to prep garden beds. Sound like y'all have a good plan. The seeds in the hay may give ya a bit of a problem. If you see the seeds in the hay sprouting throw a tarp over the area for a week or so. This should kill anything sprouting up and create a stale seedbed. A little trick I learned from Curtis Stone. He doesn't use the Ruth Stout method but his method of stale seedbeding should work for this as well.
Awesome! Thanks for the great advice! We just recently stumbled across Curtis Stone. Actually, the first video we watched was the one where he was on the beach basically saying he was done with RU-vid LOL. Kind of felt a connection there and started watching his videos from that point....weird huh? Anyway, thanks again Bill!
We debated putting it in rows to do potatoes or something specific, but ended up just going that route.....may be the laziness in us HA! That truck has been kind of a pain ever since we got it. But it's paid for....so there's that... 😜
You could put a couple black tarps over it a couple weeks of hot sun should kill any weed seeds. Hope you guys like the method as much as we did last year.
There are quite a few videos out there on it. It seems that growing potatoes this way is the most popular method that we have seen. Good luck and let us know if it works out for you!
Ruth Stout! She's an oldie but a goodie. I hope her method works for you -- I prefer mulching to digging any day. Don't blame the Dodge for getting stuck -- My Chevy Tahoe once got high-centered on a boulder in the middle of a parking lot. It's only problem was the loose screw behind the wheel (me). What kind of mileage do you get with that 2015 Boxer?
