Mafia is also my personal favorite. I understand why people think the taking over rackets and districts can get repetitive but the story itself is so powerful and as you said, it's social commentary in some ways, is just as relevant today as it was in its 1968 setting. Soundtrack is also 🔥 even though I appreciate the Mafia 2 Soundtrack just as much.

I also really love Mafia 3, despite the amount of bugs & glitches I come across in this game (if you play this on the PS5 via backwards compatibility, you get this new annoying camera glitch where it locks outside of the racket you just took over after you’ve spared or killed the racket boss, though it all gets fixed with a simple “Load Last Checkpoint”) I still find myself absolutely loving this game’s story, characters, and gameplay very much. Along with the commentary and point it’s trying to get across with the 1968 South, gotta appreciate Hanger 13 wasn’t afraid to pull back any punches to this piece of dark history. In fact in my opinion, the game gets even better if you add the DLC storylines into the main story. They really break up the repetitive gameplay and make it feel like we’re playing the good kind of short “filler arcs”, like reopening Sammy’s for instance. They all blend perfectly natural with the main story, like it doesn’t feel like we’re taking a detour, they all feel canon.

I love Mafia 3 so much. Shure it's gameplay loop is a little repetitive but so is every other Ubisoft game and those games don't have near the same quality of story telling. Also as a black man it is one of the few games to have a large black cast without stereotypes being the frontrunners of the story.

I actually love Mafia 3 as well and found it’s storytelling structure to be extremely compelling and authentic, similar to how Mafia 1 is portrayed. I played the Definitive Edition of Mafia 1, out of fear that I will get lost playing the original and I really enjoyed it. I also had an amazing time playing Mafia II and I absolutely cherish Vito and Joe and always did my best to immerse myself in that game. Mafia 3 suffered from a few large flaws but its storyline is by far the best in the series and not the typical cliche rise to power in the Italian mob kinda story. And FYI to all you Mafia haters out there, it is a Mafia story. Just because it doesn’t suit your style doesn’t mean it doesn’t deserve its title, which it does.

Definitely my favorite game in the series! Mafia III took the concept of an American crime story and applied it to a setting and scenario that we really hadn't seen in gaming. Even though the gameplay has its flaws, the story, characters and the developer's willingness to not sugar coat the uglier side of 1960s America have kept me coming back to it. The DLC was great too!

Mafia 3 was a standout game for me when it realized. I can get past the bugs. I revisit it time and time again just for the rich narrative, characters, and the addictive (and janky) gameplay. It's one of my favs

I hope that there will come a day when Mafia 3 will be appreciated for being a great game that it is. Most of it's coverege online is still sadly negative

All of Mafia 3's mission structures felt the same which felt heaps tedious, but the way you killed each main bad person mafia dude was always an elite misssion. Mafia 2's crime duo of Vito and Joe was fantastic and a great story. Mafia 1 in it's definitive form was always going to feel better than 2 and 3, as it was released only a few years ago as oppose to 2 being 2010 and 3 being 2016.

I would really love to see you do a play through of all the mafia games!

I’m still trying to beat Mafia 2 don’t know much about 3 but I like the series so far

I enjoyed Mafia 3 a lot. It has its problems, not helped by the (still kinda messy) PC port, but the characters and world are very compelling, had fun with the gameplay too.

I finish mafia definitive edition 2 weeks ago I like it alot and now I just got mafia II Xbox 360 copy from eBay I guess I can give mafia III a try since I starting to like the franchise

mafia 3 was pretty repetitive mission-wise, but i think everything else including the gameplay mechanics is near perfection

I liked mafia 1 and 2, I might have to give this one a shot too. Although, looking at the icons on the screen and character outlines trough walls, looks like there is a lot of Ubisoftication :/

All I think of when I hear about mafia III is that video of the guy who gets yelled at by his mom because he goes to the bathroom

Mafia 3 Will forever be The GOAT

Mafia 3 will forever be a disappointment to anyone who played the first two games. Such a let down

Saints Row 2 is hands down the best, i have it over every GTA game, just so much fun and freedom with a great narrative and characters 💯💯

I know you're not being serious with the title but i have always been so sick of people who actually call these games GTA clones unironically. GTA does not own the concept of third person, driving cars, or both combined. Maybe they've done it best but that doesn't mean its only theirs to use. Saints row, nafia , sleeping dogs , none of These games are Anythingggg like GTA other than third person open world with guns and cars. Each game have their owj identify and have idea unique to them I especially have a pretty bad resentment of those people because it's basically their fault that volition chose to ruin Saints row after Saints row 1 and 2. They listened to these idiots too much and got all insecure and Boom! Magic trick. They killed an entire beloved franchise ....

When ever I'm doing a marathon playtbrou of all the game from 1 to 3 i always get this disappointed and sad feeling once i finish 2 because mafia 3 feels more like a chore that im forcing myself to finish for the sake of being a conpelte series playthrough. Game devs really need to stop trying to make their games appeal to a broader fan base and stick with what made the first 2 so great in the first place. Mafia 3 is the only game in the series that actually does almost resemble GTA.

I honestly wanna like Mafia 3 as a fan of the series, but the story feels more like a punisher style story, the game still has bugs from launch and others that came up from the DE update like the engines cut out so your muscle cars are almost silent, cars spawn on top of each other sometimes talking to a racket contact after you complete the damage you go to talk to them and the racket boss mission doesn’t activate and you just stare at the contact and so on. Like don’t get me wrong the environment is cool, the soundtrack is great and the story and characters are still pretty interesting but overall I just don’t think it was given enough time and funding to be really good.
