It feels like war thunder goes out of its way to stop historical match making, you will get a match where it’s just almost historical but they put France on axis and Sweden on allies
I actually got a fucking US vs Japanese battle on Peleliu yesterday. I was absolutely shocked, because I've literally never seen that map in Air RB before. I think there was one British plane on our team, and definitely not all naval aircraft, but it was still interesting.
There is a movie that recently released called "Devotion" that features the Corsair fighting over Korea, and whilst not necessarily groundbreaking cinema, it was certainly worth a watch, if only to see some beautiful warbirds in flight. The movie also taught me that MiG's IRL had Arcade infinite ammo apparently. >..
Yeah, if there was just one thing I'd love to change about War thunder, it'd be bringing back some historical matches based on the map. Also 45 minute matches.
Indeed. I personally prefer the USMC variant, given that it has an SL multiplier better than most tier 3 US planes all whilst still being a low BR Corsair.
i agree just got my first ace 30 minutes ago it wasnt rally officail because the one kill I needed to count it as an ace was stolen and i had the guy on fire after that i killed some ai planes
The F4U-7 used to be my favorite, but the SNEB's feel far less potent than they used to be. However, still pretty solid with 3 1000lb bombs and 4 M3 20s

I think Historical matchmaking is cool in theory, but some instances like USA vs Japan are just annoying because of certain nation playstyles. The last thing I want to do in my beautiful corsair is run for half the match to just stick headons, and being in a 1v5 where I can never hope to have an energy advantage because everyone climbs on your six.
The F4U-1D was the first aircraft where i got an actual ace, i really like it. Anyways, great video Ash, and i have a question, could you go back and revisit Sprocket? It got updated so much, you should check it out again :)
What do I think of the corsair you ask? Well fortunately this past week I've been taking the time to get to know her better. Not in the sense that I've been playing it in war thunder despite having at least 2 of them unlocked. In the sense of learning more about it. Now I used to hate this aircraft, because I felt like nowadays it gets way too much credit especially next to the f6f. Which is not a good reason to hate it by the way. When it comes to it, I see the wildcat and corsair like brothers. However they never compete they just enjoy kicking arse together. They are similar but also different. Pilots have said that the f6f is heavier and beefier whilst the corsair was faster. Both fantastic aircraft especially for carrier operations. You cut the throttle and they drop down on the deck. They appear to have been used quite differently because of some advantages they have over eachother. Like how the corsair makes a great interceptor or fast attack aircraft whilst the hellcat was a great fighter and attacker. Kind of like the firefly but not really. So there's that I guess. Yeah I wish gaijin did something to their game modes and game design but it doesn't make money, or at least doesn't directly make money so no it can't happen. Fucking pigs.
I can certainly confirm after using the S-199 for far too long to unlock the Israeli P-51 that not all low tier matches are fun and that some vehicles just make you wanna nose dive the ground.
I used to love the F4U-1D, but dear god it is so unfair to fight against these days This thing is the same BR as a Wildcat, one BR below a hellcat, and one above a P-40. Hell Gaijin thinks this plane is an equal to the D.520 and worse than the S-199..
Yeah there are some really strange things going on with air BRs. I mean the freaking I-153P is at the same BR. All because new players have no idea how to actually play planes but the game also doesn't teach you...
3.0 is such a strange battle rating Cause some of the planes are extremely good Like Broken good But because most players are still fairly noobish, and resort to head ons and turn fights 90% of the time You end up dunking on players who are using great planes, while using a fairly crappy plane yourself If I ever want to just relax I play 2.7-3.3 ground or air and just turn off my brain Very fun If I get abandoned by a Russian team at 9.7 in ground Or if I get deleted at 10.0 air I just grab my 3.0 preset And relax
Also, I think air realistic should match up with ground realistic more Have the enemy team not get spotted unless someone on your team has a radar So you can only “spot” Friendlies And give everyone 3 spawns, or a SP system like in ground You can even have it so you HAVE to bring, a fighter, a bomber and a Strike aircraft So the game is more dynamic And give the first spawn an air spawn across the board Not too high, just 1000 meters So the game can get started sooner And the maps need to like 2x across the board, and take place in more then just flat stretches of land The Grand Canyon is great, Vietnam would be a great Air RB map Just make it more interesting over all Literally everyone ive asked, is open to 3 spawns in ARB
problem with bombers is that they get easy killed by any plane bevause the ai gunners are nerfed to uselesness. the other aspect is, nobody protects bombers, you have to fly alone and hope that you can drop your bombs on a base before any fighter comes up to you. there should be a mode just for bombers, like enduring confrontation. where is the problem to climb to the bomber and shoot it down? that is what fighters do. and who likes games that are over after 5 mins? thats boring....
