I have been making marshmallows for many years. (Over 40 years!) The only difference is that the recipe I use does not use the corn syrup. Summertime the stores used to come out with toasted coconut coated marshmallows. So, I toast coconut and roll mine in that. It is a winner! Nothing compares to the homemade marshmallow. (My recipe came from the "Farm Journal Homemade Candy Cookbook". I hope everyone tries them.
Would you have a recipe that uses gelatin sheets at all please? In the UK we tend to have sheets not granules of gelatin and I've found it so hard to convert successfully as all recipes use granules! (gold 200 bloom is the standard type)
Thank you so much. I've just watched what feels like 700 videos on marshmallows and finally someone said how long it takes for gelatine to "bloom". Plus you're style is very watchable. Unlike some who seem to go for the "doouchie super bowl voice over I'm way too enthusiastic and need to be slapped" voice lol
My kids asking this morning how are marshmallows made while sipping on their hot cocoa, so here we are. This was such a great video for my kiddoes. I knew in the first 1 or 2 minutes that you went to culinary school. Bench scrapers are simply the best, I use them a lot. I love the make-up brush idea and will definitely be adding that to my chefs bag. 👏🏻👏🏻. So we subscribed to your channel and are looking forward to watching all the good things you make.
I just made marshmallows and it's true: They disappear in your mouth and they taste AMAZING. I actually made them for my kids, sorta like a project. I don't like marshmallows at all, at least the store bought ones. But THESE marshmallows are DE 👏🏼LI 👏🏼CIOUS lol. Despite the sugar, corn syrup and honey (I used maple) you can hardly taste it because it just melts in your mouth. Thank you Liz, for another winner recipe ❤️🙏🏼
Love how you explain what you do and why you do it. Makes a click happen upstairs that I wouldn’t of made myself without your explanation. Lol. Usually in Recipes, I do what they say but don’t know why I do so it’s a good change! Super interesting also!
Just tried your recipe! Amazing! I added matcha powder to my gelatin mixture and the flavour/texture of these marshmallows is insanely good!!!! I used maple syrup instead of honey and didn't add vanilla so the matcha flavour really stands out
Made these yesterday as I wanted to use some to decorate a S’mores cake I am making. I cut them this morning and they came out PERFECT even though I didn’t have someone to help me getting into the pan! I didn’t change a thing. Instructions were perfect. Thank you for another great recipe!!!
Love your presentation. I appreciate you explaining the "why" of the process. I can hardly wait to make a batch of mint marshmallows to dump in hot cocoa! :-)
It's actually surprising how easy marshmallows are to make at home - I made them one year as a gift when I was on a very tight budget and I think it's still probably one of the best-received gifts that I ever gave to people. Edit: It always puzzles me to see comments where people expressing surprise/horror about how much sugar is involved in making candy. I'm honestly not sure what some people think candy is made from! LOL
Yes! Nothing is more irritating than Karen coming and nit picking the ingredients in the video, WHY ARE YOU HERE?! WHY ARE YOU EVEN WATCHING IF YOU KNOW SO MUCH?! Just like the people who give a recipe 1 star reviews and then go on to list all the substitutions and deviations they took. YOUR recipe sucked, you didnt make THIS.
Anisor Fernandez you can let them sit out for 2 days to develop a skin, and then store them in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer. They really can last for years!
@@SugarGeekShow I find that, at my house, they last a lot longer if I hide them. My dad has some that I made him last Christmas. They're still pretty good!
Now, that I am a Grandmother, l no longer make Marshmallows... I make “Nanny-Mellows”. They were officially renamed by my eldest Grandchild back in 2008 when he was six. I have tinted my Mellows, used all kinds of extracts... l have even cut them with metal cookie cutters. It’s not easy cutting out Star shaped Mellows! 🤦🏻♀️ l also love to dip them in Dark Chocolate. (It’s easier if you only dip 2/3 of your Mellow into the chocolate.) I’ve been “Binge” watching your videos for a couple of hours now and you had me in stitches with this one. Thank You from the bottom of my heart! ♥️
I made marshmallows often for kiddos at our church. My recipe is different from most as I only use sugar, salt, gelatine, water and vanilla. I make a coating using powdered sugar and corn starch. My husband and grandkids like mine but not store bought!! Glad your site came on my feed tonight.
We made these last night and cut them today. WOW! So, so good!! They're going to make perfect additions to the Christmas treat boxes we're making! Thank you!
Holy cow! These are great. I did it without honey and used powdered vanilla. Delicious! Thanks for the recipe and the directions. It's nice of you to share your talents with us!
I’m watching this 2 yrs later and this is the best tutorial for homemade marshmallows. Thank you so much because I would’ve made so many mistakes watching the other videos.
I’m so glad you showed up on my feed! As you were putting powdered sugar on the marshmallows I was thinking you needed to dip them in chocolate LOL and then you did! As you were cutting up the chocolate my mouth was watering 😋
Just a curious question - why do you oil the pan so much, if you're going to cover the entire pan with parchment? Great video - fully explanatory! Thanks!
I would definitely like to see a video on shipping cookies. I'm planning to make candies, cookies, hot cocoa mix and cocoa bombs and would love to ship to my son & his family and I want everything to arrive as shipped, so tips to help the happen would be much appreciated.
I can't wait to make these! I bet you could use cookie cutters (thinking snowmen!) and various shapes then dunk in chocolate! The possibilities are endless along with the flavors, shapes and other types of chocolates to dunk with. Thank you for the inspiration!
If you have the old school flat cookie sheets that are just one thin piece of metal bent up at the end, you can use that to cut the marshmallow. If you put a thin coat of veg oil, the marsh won't stick so much.
Could you make a video on vegan marshmallows please? Really just honey marshmallows with no granulated sugar, corn syrup, or gelatin so agar agar instead.
Cutting Marshmallows with a Pizza Cutter is the easiest way I have found to get them cut. Personally.... I like how you take people through the process and love the Bosche.
I always love how you explain everything in detail it makes what you're doing understandable so jealous while you were eating one of those homemade marshmallows just to look on your face you could tell how good they are can't wait to try thank you so much for sharing and as always keep on caking
Just found you. First time heard adding honey. Going to try n see the results myself. Thank you for the explanations. Subscribing. Watching fr Sri Lanka.
I just made these beautiful cloudy soft marshmallows, oh boy what do I say , it tastes amazing and squishy 😊. Thanks Liz for this amazing recipe. She never fail us. ❤
Wow there are so many ingredients! The recipe I use has 4: sugar, water, gelatin, and flavouring (colouring optional). I also use cling film to line the pan and you don’t need oil that way. And almond flavour is the bomb!
In spite of my efforts my kids do love sugar, I’m now a subscriber. On this one I’m a bit confused since I’ve made meringue to add to a recipe that sooo tasted like marshmallows!
I can’t wait to try this recipe, but I have a feeling it will be very messy and sticky! It reminds me of her gummy bear recipe. Absolutely delicious, but extremely sticky and hard to clean up! I think it is worth it to make marshmallows, especially for topping a pie or hot chocolate or so many other applications.
TIP!!! * Saw this on Emma’s goodies * PIPE THE MIXTURE IN LONG ROPES sets in SECONDS Cut them up You can make Mini or regular sized, just work quickly!!
Hi Liz, thank you for the tutorial and I can’t wait to try it. However, just a quick question, can I use this marshmallow to make your fondant marshmallow?
I am so going to make this tomorrow. I do not like marshmallows, neither the texture nor the "flavour", they're tolerable when grilled, but after this presentation I have to try these homemade ones. Even if I might not like them either, I have friends and family who will be happy, and them being happy makes me happy, so we all win 😁 I love that you give vegan/vegetarian-friendly alternatives. Thanks for the video!
Must be sooo tasty!! Love that you dust them with sugar. I absolutely love marshmellows, but I can't stand the taste of storebought ones. They are dusted in some chemically tasting powder. (Weird on the teeth). So happy I can make some with sugar! -Thanks for posting!! -Will get fat!!
Hi, I'm from Italy and I can't wait to try making your beautiful marshmallows. Here I can only find isinglass in sheets. How many grams should I use for this recipe? Thanks a lot 😊
Have you made this recipe in the plastic Bosch mixer bowl? If so, I would like to know how it turned out and if it would be recommended to making it in the plastic bowl.
Thank you so much. I got hooked on your tutorials from one hot chocolate bomb recipe that I wasn't even looking for. You have a huge fan in me just from one simple recipe.
EXCELLENT ! Have you tried dusting them in cocoa ? I am going to go through your videos before I make my grocery list and turn my kitchen into a “goodie factory” this weekend.
I have a question. I want to make various flavors of marshmallows, I have LorrAnne super strength flavors, when would I need to add that flavoring and how much? I LOVE your videos btw. Im so so happy i found you!
Hi hi! I love marshmallow ❤, I'd like to make a marshmallow syrup to put in coffee, do you know how? Id rather use homemade marshmallow, im looking forward to trying this recipe. Glad i found you🎉
O.M.G.!!!! I can't stay on my chair... it looks a bit strange with all the little holes, but when you splitted it with your hands the texture seemed like sooooo yummy.... OMG... I need to do some! (and I'm not a marshmallow addict... yet! :p )
can i make rice crispy by adding melted butter once the marshmallow has been whipped ? instead of waiting for it to set and then melting it down again? Thanks
Loved every minute of the video especially the reasonings as yes I too am a sugar Geek! lol . I’d like to make these dip in chocolate and sprinkle with candy hearts to send to the Grandchildren they would love them. Thank you
Hi Liz, I’m literally making up a recipe for a3 layer Malomar cake. I think a round layer of this would work perfectly!! My mouth is watering too, do you happen have any suggestions how I can pull this off? Lol
I'm thinking of trying this, I have never made marshmallows before. Can the fluff be put into a piping bag and piped into shapes or is it too thick/sticky/doesn't hold its form?
Calibrate your thermometer. Boil some water- if your thermometer reads 212 degrees- it’s good to go. If not allow for the difference when cooking the sugar water. It will save you some frustration.
Love watching you always, I made them and I thought my mixer was going to die at 30 seconds left lol as s it got truly thick as s I expected, how do we store the marshmallows and how long are they good for?
Thanks so much for all the detail! I've made marshmallows using my KitchenAid, but wondering - do you think I could make them in my Bosch with the plastic bowl? I don't have the metal bowl for my Bosch.
