I love that the Korean black bean paste package says Chinese black bean paste in English. I love seeing these little connections between different cuisines, proving that good food transcends borders and cultures. ;-)

I noticed this, too. Thought it was funny that at the exact same moment he said to make sure it's Korean and not from anywhere else. Lol
@tatecheddar
@tatecheddar 2 года назад
@@JH-ti3lr I actually had to come back and watch the video because I wanted to buy this stuff off Amazon and I was confused it said Chinese in the description. Turns out it's totally Chinese and made in China despite having Korean written on the package, but it's the exact same stuff.
@peterwilliams7335
@peterwilliams7335 2 года назад
@@tatecheddar what you are experiencing is not unusual. What he means the beans paste in the package is made with Korean recipe or Korean style even it is made in China. Jjajangmyeon (in Korean) is evolved from Zhajiangmian (simplified Chinese: 炸酱面; traditional Chinese: 炸醬麵; pinyin: Zhá jiàng miàn), literally "fried sauce noodles", commonly translated as "noodles served with fried bean sauce" which originates from Shandong province in China and is an iconic Northern Chinese dish. There are different variations of this well known classic noodle dish throughout Chinese provinces and Japan.
@peterlee9691
@peterlee9691 Год назад
What he meant was that it needed Korean writing on the front from Korea for this specific dish, because other Chinese black bean paste might taste different. But the noodles you can use most anything.
@Qudths
@Qudths Год назад
@@tatecheddar yeah, others have said, but while the paste itself has chinese origins, the chinese zhajiang tastes different than the korean jjiajang, which is why aaron says to get the korean 'chinese black bean paste', not the chinese 'chinese black bean paste'. the ones made in korea also taste different from the ones made in china.

I followed your recipe and made it! It was the most satisfying jajamen I’ve ever had (had it a few times at restaurants and I never thought they were great… though they always look good in k-dramas.) I would’ve not thought of making it except you put in chives and other veggies as well as meat so it was nutritious compared to ones at the shops. Kids loved it too! Thank you !

I always make Jjajangmyeon for my siblings, I introduced them to this dish and now it's a staple at my house, my sister even says it is her favorite food now. We have to have it at least once a week, even if its just the instant jjajang ramyun. I always make sure to add either pork belly or thick cut bacon, onions, and green onions to the instant version at the very least to make it even better. We also most of the time pair it with a good, fatty steak! It's just an incredible combo. Oh and my mom keeps asking me for the recipes so I just keep sending her the links to your videos 😌🤟💜

I absolutely love your videos. I've made some Korean food before....bibimbap, Korean fried chicken, and kimchee. You recipes are easy to make and I've used a number of your techniques to liven up some of my more boring dishes. Like Claire, I really dislike fishy tasting dishes so I'm naturally drawn to your cooking. And I have to say I absolutely live Claire!! My husband is a lot like her and and it's a pleasure to cook for him!! Please keep on making videos!

Claire: I wanted to order it at a restaurant but couldn’t eat 2-3 servings! Oh, Claire! Such a fibber! I have faith in you! 8-)
