That 1st Centella sunscreen is ABSOLUTELY beautiful and as a brown girl, it does not give me any ash. I bought it because of you and I use it! (reminds me, I need to get some more)
I’m so glad to see this comment because I wanted to say the same! It’s such a beautiful sunscreen. On really hot days, it’s amazing. I keep mine in the fridge
I've been using the Beauty of Joseon one for about a month now and it's amazing. As a dry skinned girl, I love the glow it gives me. I work outside, so it's good to know my skin is protected as well as cared for.
@@brownboii305 I'm not really sure myself, since my skin is dry. Maybe check reviews online? Because if it is good, it's a really nice one. Nice texture. I mean, it makes me glow, but it's not a heavy creme. It's very light.
I wanted to love this one, but unfortunately, it pills on me :/ I'll use it up (I purchased multiple tubes) on my arms to protect my tattoos now that we're in shorter sleeved work attire weather.
I truly cannot believe how night and day my skin is after find BoJ. I think i am just allergic to something in all of the western sunscreens i was using
@@brownboii305 YES! Been using it for about 4months. Goes on dewy, but absorbs into skin nicely after 10-15mins. No white cast. No pilling when paired with gel-based moisturizers and reapplications. Love the soothing/calming benefits it has. Also got the matching sun stick to mattify on days I'm EXTRA sweaty and oily. Was worried about trying it, but glad I did. Only product that gives me a natural glow instead of the "grease bucket" look. My skin/environment factors: - Brown skin (oily-acne prone) - Redness/Irritation struggles (from my environment) - I live in a dry desert heat region (warm and sunny year-round with summer temps reaching 110F) - I SWEAT easy and kind of a lot (just going from the car to buildings/running errands) Hope this was able to answer your question 👍
hi James! Love ur skincare videos . They really inspire me!! As a boy who gets hated on for doing skincare + some makeup I rlly love how you are sooo inclusive!!! keep doing what u r doing !!!
I would really suggest everyone to try the skin1004 hyalu one. I finally found my holy grail sunscreen in that product. I had major issues with SPF causing stingy eyes, because I have super sensitive eyes. I tried many sunscreens and this has been so far the only one that has not caused any stinging. And the texture is so good - it is like milky serum, like the name says - sun serum. It does not leave any greasiness and absorbs/disappears so quickly. I love how light it is.
I'm the same, I bought one from Primark weds, for €4 , I didn't think it would be good, to be honest it's brilliant no white cast or anything, it's a serum
I’m obsessed with the Round Lab Birch sunscreen. I’ve already stocked up on it. I’m so used to western sunscreens that when I tried Round Lab’s for the first time, it was so shocking. No thick and white smelly sunscreen that pills up 😖
I adore the Skin1004 sunscreen it's one of my favorites. The Abib one is also my favorite for replication, and it goes amazingly over makeup. Another one that I love is the Cosrx aloe sunscreen, so hidrating and soothing.
@MSD I have dry skin. I only use it for replication, usually over makeup because I wear makeup most days. I use a liquid sunscreen in the morning before makeup. With the Abib sunscreen, I go over my face about 4 or 5 times to make sure I apply enough. It doesn't move my makeup much and leaves a nice glow. However, if I feel greasy, I do a little powder over and more blush. I rarely do this because I have dry skin. If you have Oily skin, it is probably best to use blotting paper first before application. I sanitize mine with sanitary tissues after a few applications because, for me, it doesn't remove much makeup, and I am the only one using it. Good luck! Another good one is the Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Airy Sun Stick. This one is a more matte finish, better for oily skin, in my opinion, because it doesn't leave that glow behind. It also wears beautifully over makeup. I use this one more for summertime. I also tried the Beauty of Joseon sun stick, and I do not recommend it for application over makeup. It pills, and it doesn't apply evenly. The liquid one is fantastic, though.
@no one said that no, but it is moisturizing and leaves a bit of a glow. If you don't want shinny. I recommend Dear Klairs Airy sunscreen. Amazing for summer time and not drying but not shine at all.
Personally the Round Lab and Boj sunscreens feel nice, but they do sting if my skin is a bit irritated and they also make my eyes water :/ but the skin1004 ones are amazing !! They don’t ever irritate me and feel so so nice, I also just got the Tocobo sun stick and it’s soo good
I get burning (all over not just eyes) from BoJ, Round Labs, and another Kolmar brand I can't remember and now I'm scared to try Skin1004! Talk me into it cuz I love sunscreen...
@@ursusarctoshorribilis5079 I would recommend the skin1004 air fit sunscreen (if you have light skin bc it can leave a white cast) it’s a mineral sunscreen and a little bit thicker than their water serum one but the one really doesn’t sting even slightly! But if you have darker skin I would still give the water-fit sun serum a try because it’s great
@@ursusarctoshorribilis5079 I tried RoundLab sunscreen, it stings my whole face for 5 mins ; I can reassure you skin1004 hyalu-cica sunscreen doesn’t sting at all !!!!!
I saw Centella in a previous video I been using it only for a few days, it feels great, and I haven't had a breakout so far (acne prone ski).Thank you!
I’ve been using the Scinic enjoy super mild sun essence for about a year now and I absolutely love it if you haven’t tried it. I have dry skin and have to use a moisturizer under it, but it’s not greasy, makes my skin so soft, no white cast, and it’s just overall great
My goodness, I had to pause and get onto Stylevana to look for the abib stick. I bought 2. One to try for myself, and one for my husband. I have been trying since I found your channel to find a sunscreen that he will use on his face and REAPPLY. The problem is he works outside all day in the midwestern US. It’s hard to find something that isn’t suffocating or will weep into his eyes with sweat. Thanks James! We will see how it goes!
Heyy, how did it go? Did you/your husband like the abib quick sun stick?I've been thinking of purchasing the abib sun stick, its extremely hot and humid where I live
Following your previous sunscreen suggestion, I wear makeup atop the Centella (the cica one) every single day following Tatcha water cream and it’s absolutely the best. I even put primer on top and it behaves so well and doesn’t break me out the way emollient sunscreens, both chemical and mineral, often do. I am almost done with my first bottle and already have the 2 pack from Amazon to replace it. Edit: I have extremely oily skin, I mean extremely.
I use littllextra riceberry sunscreen, which is so good that I can't even think of going out without it a single day. It is non-greasy, smooth, and contains SPF 50 PA ++++ which protects the skin from both UVA and UVB rays. Additionally, it is non-comedogenic and doesn't clog pores. The hyaluronic acid in it keeps my skin hydrated and glowing. I also use their moisturizer and face wash, and for the past 4 months, I haven't experienced any breakouts.
The RoundLab birch juice one and Abib stick are 2 of my absolute favourites too! I tried the Tococo one after your recommendation but I must admit, I kinda really hate that feeling it leaves behind. It feels suffocating on my skin I always rush to wash my face as soon as I get home. But I love trying out sunscreens so I can't wait to get all the other ones you showed!
my main issue with korean sunscreen is that most are not water resistant. especially for summer i think that’s a problem. i like biore for elegant water resistant formulas
This! I love them for winter/autumn usage but once it gets warm they're not that effective. I usually use LRP Uvmune during summer and it's never failed me.
I’ve been wanting to try the skin1004 sunscreen, that’s next on my list. I just tried A’pieu’s sunscreen in the blueish green bottle and it’s amazing. Such an underrated brand
Hellloo 💚 great timing James, ive just ordered Beauty of Joseon Sunscreen for the first time. Im excited to try. But its a small bottle so will need one again soon. So this video is handy. Thank you 💚
Unfortunately 1.7oz (50ml) is the standard size for facial sunscreens. It's supposed to be enough for a month, but it doesn't account for re-application. I wish more brands sold facial sunscreens in larger packaging.
@@brownboii305 yes it is totally, I have combination skin, more oily on the T zone, and it just soaks in beautifully. Doesn't clog or drag. Make up goes on lovely afterwards. It is hydrating but not in an overbearing way. I'm 3 days in using it, and it is one of the best so far.
Dunno if you know Roundlab came out with suncreen stick and for reapplication of suncreen in Korea they also use a Suncreen cushion compact it's like a normal Korean makeup cushion but it' s just suncreen and it definitely doesn't rub off makeup
Currently I live in Kyrgyzstan. And last time i saw Round Lab spf on the shelves in November. Because people buy it all in one day after restocking. I use Tocobo though. It’s lovely to use, i like the smell and skin is really soft to the touch after.
The Dr. Ceuracle Cica Regen Waterproof Sun is my all time favorite!! I know it's pricy so I'm glad I got mine during last months StyleKorean RSG 😅 I tried the BOJ sunscreen and stick, the abib sun essence, a couple from Neogen, Dr.G, and the Skin1004 (I hate that pump!!) but Dr. Ceuracle has them all beat for me.
@@laceysmith6477 I go through phases of pretty bad cystic acne. It comes and goes but when it's around it's a nightmare. This sunscreen does not aggravate my breakouts thankfully. I can even sleep in it (which I have only done by accident a few times) and still be fine.
@@Yummi_913 thank you so much! I ordered this but i have very sensitive acne prone skin so it’s anxiety induced trying new products but this one looked great for summer weather!
I use the second one, Guess it's not cheap for how much product there Is inside, but it's really Easy to apply, Just light as a mosturizer, and I'm totally in love with the pump, It Just gives u the right amount of product with no waste!
Lol not this Canadian! We've been having some really hot summers and with no AC, I'll take winter any day. You can always bundle up, but there's only so much you can take off! 🔥
I really like the benton one you showed (except for the scent) and I also really like Klairs sunscreen. Could you please do more content like this, like best serums/toners/moisturizers etc
Super love the skin1004 sunscreen! Been using it for while now and never had any issues. I have sensitive skin and some chemical sunscreens sting on my face (like the BOJ one) but after having tried the skin1004, i stocked up immediately! 😂❤
Eventhough I love Korean sunscreens so much but I can't still rely on their sun protection. Think about this, if their elegance lightweight texture is the most wanted consistency by lots of people, why other European global big brands have not made one like that when they already have more than enough of the resources and knowledge in formulations and equivalent new UV filters. I personally believe that why most of European sunscreens with high SPF and PPD still have thicker and shinier consistency than Korean ones not because they couldn't find the sweet-spot formulation but they have to make it pass their high UV protection standards rather than just formulating it to be very light, but low and unstable protection.
It would be good to showcase Asian or other excellent body sunscreens that can be used for the face, too. It may be a little cheaper and you also get a large quantity of it.
I love Korean skincare but finding a sunscreen that works for me in the summer is something I really struggle with :( The ones I've tried are fine during the winter but during the summer my face looks so oily and I can feel that weird sweaty feeling that you get when a cream is too heavy for you.
I'm glad youre reviewing more sunsticks. I haven't bought any korean sticks yet, but I'm excited about the mary and may one...mainly just bc its purple 😂.
I'm dangerously allergic to birch and seeing birch becoming a popular skincare ingredient is really sad for me T_T so many products I have to avoid entirely!
I'm sorry, I get how you feel, I'm dangerously allergic to aloe, avocado, banana, and pine. It's super frustrating to hear about a product that friends and influencers have found and are loving and all I can say is "let me look at the ingredients first". I'm so glad that the higher end products are moving away from aloe. Companies that *CLEARLY* list their ingredients will be your friend. Be patient, remember it's a trend that will cycle back out and on to the next "best thing ever".
@@happysunday1345 so, I ordered 5 different sunscreens to try right after I made my original comment. Only got to the second one and I don't even want to try the rest. "Heartleaf Calming Moisture Sun Cream" from goodal is fabulous! No birch, nothing from my list, and no niacinamide. If you haven't found something you like, I'd definitely suggest trying this one.
Hi James. I couldn't agree more on the Round Lab sunscreen and the Skin1004 sun serum; They're both awesome for my dry skin too! Have you tried out the Scinic Enjoy Super Mild Sun Essence SPF50+ PA ++++? It's also a Korean sunscreen that's hydrating and only $9! 😁
I like the SKIN1004, Abib sunstick and the round lab one, and also Scinic essence and sun stick, the bellflower blueberry sunscreen, Dear Klairs airy fit and the Purito daily soft touch sunscreen are faves of mine. I recently got the new one from Make Prem, UV defense me watery capsule
Please please James post your hair care routine for us and what products u use I really like and love your hair and how healthy it is would love it u share with us ❤️ Much love :)
Girl SAME about hating summer lol Im in WA state in the US (Twilight state lol) and it was 80 degrees today 😭and I work outside on my farm ugh. Sunscreen sticks have been a Lifesaver ❤
Great video! Lots of new products to try! Thank you! Keep up the Korean product videos. What about anti-aging routines? For the over-40 set, what are the key ingredients we should be using?
I tried RoundLab birch juice sunscreen, but it stings my face for 5 mins ! And a bit greasy in my opinion ; In contrast, skin1005 hyalu-cica doesn’t sting my face at all, very hydrating and watery in texture, love it !
Twenty years ago Lancome made a sunscreen with a bit of bronze and bit of glimmer. Do have any recommendations for sunscreens that protect and also add that certain bit of glam? Maybe I should buy highlighter powder? In the brutal summer I use Neutrogena mineral and Cover Girl loose powder and Coppertone spray on my body. Coppertone is the smell of summer for me, and spray sunscreen is so easy to use. It's for your arms and body, not for your face. The back of my neck is so hard to cover, I just spray it. Glitter spray sunscreen for summer parties! And don't forget the frangrance. So you and Robert, your first collab product should be a line of tinted and glimmer sunscreen. Creams, powders, sprays, sticks. Tinted. Natural. Glam. Matte. Colors!
I love the Papa Recipe Bombee Honey Moist Sun Essence. Received a sample in my Ipsy bag, fell in love, and now it's sold out everywhere indefinitely. 😟
Thanks to you I have bought some of the best sunscreens that don't give me a rash, sting, or dry my skin such as Beauty of Joseon and Skin 1004. I'm looking forward to trying the others you are recommending. Love your videos 😊😊😊
James i hope this message finds you Could u make a video of the best sunscreens for men with beards .. my beard is thin so i have to use sunscreen on the skin ..but all of them leave a white cast and dots .
@jameswelsh What do you use for your body sun protection? I wish all sunscreens felt like kbeauty sunscreens but there's no way I'll ever be rich enough to slather it on my whole body lol.
Vaseline and Nivea have body lotions wih 24 and 30 spf sold at drugstores here in South East Asia. Been using them since years ago. Are they sold at your region too?
its funny because ive tried multiple sunscreens you recommend, and i hated all of them lol. cosrx aloe sun cream, tocobo, hated them all lol. ive yet to find a korean sunscreen that even comes 10 miles within supergoop's lead lol. everything about supergoop is 6 stars for me, it feels and smells amazing. korean sunscreen has this... idk, sticky feel ? cosrx is really bad, i feel like i can wipe my face and all the sun cream will just pill and peel off, like it just doesnt absorb. i feel like for sun cream the only thing i enjoy is ones with silicones in. isododecone is wonderful, and the mattifying velvety effects supergoop has just feels soooo good. it disappears on the skin and even makes my skin feel and look BETTER than normal, its almost like wearing really good makeup for me lol. i will say however the tocobo cotton soft sun stick i do enjoy, altho the smell isnt great. so it does work for me somewhat, i dont hate it, but id rather just put more supergoop on lol. because i dont hate the tocobo sun stick, i may try the other two sun sticks you mentioned, altho i dont really feel safe with the sun protection they offer, its nowhere near as thorough as lotion sunscreen, but i suppose its better than nothing
I’ve just started using sunscreen daily now we have some superior Korean options. My only gripe is what you said at the end, you het through them soo quick! Why don’t they have bigger bottles of the stuff? You’re supposed to put two lines on your fingers for the right amount, but I feel like I have to use it more sparingly so I don’t get through 4 tubes a month 🙈 might have to try that reapplication stick…
I’m definitely going to try a some of these. I have been looking for a good face sunscreen. My only problem is that I don’t reapply when I’m wearing makeup. I haven’t figured out how to reapply without ruining my makeup.
I don't think Korean sunscreens are subjected to the same regulations, requirements, and testing as Aussie sunscreens, right? If you want a sunscreen that will really protect your skin, shouldn't you choose an Aussie product? Thoughts?
I had people here in Canada say the same thing to me when I started using Korean products over 10 years ago. Then K beauty exploded. When it comes to skincare and sun protection, they (famously) do not mess around! I think Korean consumers have very high standards and are too discerning to accept less than high quality products, ingredients and formulations. (I actually think their regulations are more strict for certain chemical exfoliants?) Even the lowest priced/lowest tier skincare I've bought from the Korean supermarket is noticably better than products I shelled out over 5× as much for from well known bougie North American brands. (Although I can't speak to Australian skincare brands.) SK is Daddy Skincare, imo. 🇰🇷🙌🙇♀️
@@JD.727 thanks for your comment. I mentioned Aussie products bc we have the highest melanoma and skin cancer rates in the world - the sun here does not muck around, so our sunscreen needs to be effective and undergoes a lot of testing. It's even classed as a regulated good and needs to be approved by the TGA (FDA equivalent) to be sold. I want to try Korean sunscreen, but am a little concerned it won't be effective enough for our high UV index!
Have you tried the Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun. I’ve been using it for a year now and luv it. Also Glow by Ramon collaborated with Beauty of Joseon and created a matte sun-stick which I also love. It really tones down the shine during reapplication.
@@brownboii305 The Relief sun is glowy. I have an oily tzone and I don’t mind it. But it is really light weight so I would say yes because it doesn’t feel heavy. But after it soaks in I use the matte stick to get rid of some of the shine on my nose and forehead
Have you tried the new Byoma sunscreen? looks quite good (think they've added an eye gel and balm cleanser to the range too). Would be interested in a Korean spf cushion review for reapplying
That skin1004 is maybe my fave. But there are so many amazing ones to chose from. StyleKorean just sent me 6 to try and I literally could 😅t pick a favorite 😂
Love your videos James, you are the sole reason why I went from horrible acne ridden oily skin to smooth, managable, clear skin. I had a question tho, I never wear make up but when I do I feel like I can't reapply sunscreen. Do you have any recommendations or ideas to help with that?
The BOJ stick is also great. Comparable to the Tocobo. - almost. Lol

can you recommend any heavy duty korean suncare & body suncare?? i’m a farmer 🙃 and it’s definitely difficult to find nice sunscreen that is also heavy duty
what sunscreen would you recommend for reapplying when you have makeup on?? thats my biggest problem >< i feel like the sticks or liquid form would ruin or move the makeup....
