Sir, thanks for the video and you're very right about the potential devastation of the shoes. I sparred with Wing Chun guys and those shoes left scars on my shins. But it's a myth that you can break shins unless you wear steel boots when kicking. The other thing is the front leg front kick is basically much faster than any rear leg kick. So I won't sacrifice its speed by adding a shuffle step for the extra range. Just use it as a punch counter. For a long range or surprise attack, use the rear leg and add hip rotation.
In my opinion, one of the best leg kicks of all time (if not the greatest leg kick of all time, is Wing Chun/Jeet Kune Do’s Oblique Kick. And, I also believe that the Oblique Kick is a HIGHLY UNDERRATED type of kick.
Perfect video! Thank you sifu 🙏 I look forward to signing up for the teachable in the near future. Until then I'll (un)patiently await the next upload 👍
There are still round kicks in jkd and you can use your instep and shin kicks. Because they work and are useful if you know how and when to throw them. I mostly straight kick but you want to be able to kick from any angle
That front kick - do y actually step in (even if a fraction ) to hit the other persons leg ? Or ideally I just lift the front leg and hit the opponent ?
That and/or the bottom of the foot. There’s no law against using the ball of the foot either, so it depends on your angle too. Using the heel would be optimal, of course, as that maximizes the structure. That said, if you’ve got good footwear on, such a boots, the reinforced toe is also a weapon.
greenville academy martial arts i chose sanda and jkd did you hear over shaolin kung fu and wing chun because sanda and and jkd are both good, better and more effective in self defense and street fighting
Irritates me, Icy Mike says jkd is stupid and worthless and that he refuses to read it (so how would he know). He just bullies and name calls anyone who mentions jkd. Pretty immature, missing out on alot too
Uhm, you do realize Muay Thai and Karate are also one of many kickboxing styles out there ? And MMA means mixed martial art, fighters used both asian and western arts. It's not a style, it's a form of martial art competition And Jon Jones wreck people's leg with straight kick to the shin and knee cap
