Sunglasses look good and I’m a fan of loafers. I picked up a pair of bass lugged horse bit loafers recently. Sizing was tricky. I’m a 9.5 in sneakers but went down to a 8.5 bc of heel slip. But the front portion is too tight and hurts my feet, hopefully will soften with time I’d look into black stock and Weber as well. They seem to make some beautiful loafers

the trick that helps it to try and size down and up a width. rancourt mail out 'try on' samples. the importance of a brand that has a variety of available widths is essential.

Weejuns have been trash for a minute but 80s and older models are decent and can be had for cheap online. Sebago and Quoddy are probably the best modern loafers I can vouch for. Those Jay Butlers look nice too!

A bit over the $200 price range, but I highly recommend the Morjas penny loafer (they recently raised the prices and it's now $295 I believe, but you can get a 10% off first purchase discount). It is very well proportioned with a relatively short vamp and a nicely rounded almond-shaped toe, comes in both rubber sole and hand-dyed leather sole, and is made out of leather from the Weinheimer tannery in Germany (which also supplies leather for Crockett & Jones).

Just say "No"...to corrected grain leather. It creases horribly, and in a very short time period, (almost immediately), it begins to flake and peel. One should just add the money one would spend on corrected grain leather...and add that amount to a higher priced..."full grain leather" shoe. One should be glad they did. (And beware, some famous shoe brands, actually make shoes with corrected grain leather. Yes...I know, I was surprised as well. For example, Allen Edmonds, and even the great English shoe brand Church's...have a few models in corrected grain leather. And also be aware...that many high priced, "luxury" brands will also serve up a pair of high priced shoes in corrected grain. So...beware. Full grain, or shell cordovan, (horse leather), is really the only way to go. And...one more "beware". When thrifting shoes online, be aware, that sellers KNOW the words, "shell cordovan", brings views, because horse leather is very expensive. It is also extremely durable. However...shell cordovan looks very similar to corrected grain leather, and sellers will, (whether they are lying, or just don't know, is up for debate), try and pass of corrected grain, as shell cordovan. I lied...one more beware.....shell cordovan is the actual name of the horse leather. However...some use the word, "cordovan", indicating color. Some sellers know this, so they will attach the word "cordovan", to their cheap corrected grain leather, indicating the "color", not actual shell cordovan. Whew....that was a lot to take in. Lol. Beware out there in la-la land people...the internet can truly disappoint you. Some are honest yes...but many are dishonest. So...just say "No", to corrected grain leather.. It is not worth it.

While I agree that full grain is usually the way to go, not all corrected grain leather is poor quality and higher quality bookbinder used by the likes of Church’s certainly shouldn’t flake or peel. The main problem with high end corrected grain leather is that the creasing is far more noticeable and it doesn’t develop any kind of patina.

Sounds like you are describing cheap corrected grain leather with a plastic coating on it, flaking and peeling. A lot of boots will use a corrected grain leather. Horween, obviously known for their quality leather, has corrected grain leather

I was trying to wean off of leather sneakers this summer that I tried Weejuns this past summer and I quickly returned it. It looked quite comical and I could not create outfits with them. The game changer for me this year was unstructured loafers in suede. Felt like slippers in terms of comfort, but more durable than driver loafers. Unstructured suede loafers are dressier than leather sneakers, but more casual than a leather loafers like the Weejuns. Best purchase I made this summer in terms of footwear.

thank you for showing how tassle loafer paired with jeans so I get my confirmation how ridiculous that look, not a fan of tassle or penny loafer especially with moccasin style toes , however that black loafer is probably not a patent leather it's just a smooth leather usually called brushed off leather I think based on their softer sheen and texture, it's a daily wear leather and probably won't crack and still can be shined a bit with shoe polish unlike patent leather.

Penny loafers were all the rage when i was a teen. But i walked right out of them. Narrow heels. I picked up a pair of like new Weejuns at a thrift store for $15. My real size, and so far they're staying on. I'll see how they do this summer.

So FYI about the fit of all leather (even high quality loafers) if that style doesn’t feel good brand new no amount of breaking in will be any better (maybe, MAYBE decades) -signed girl with permanent dark scares on my heels from repeated years of blisters from my prep-school uniform penny loafer’s, yes I bought every different pair under the sun and wore Gold Toe wool socks or thick tights.

I wear the black/white Weejuns with a tuxedo. I usually would wear a pair of velvet pumps or patent leather oxfords, but the Weejuns make for a nice change. If you wear a tuxedo or a dinner jacket semi-regularly it’s nice to have some variety. Back when my dad was buying Weejuns in the 60s they were a good shoe. They are… not now, as the video shows, but I don’t need particularly good shoes to wear twice a year for a few hours. It just needs to look it.

The timing of this video is uncanny as I JUST ended a 4 year search for the perfect penny loafer. My requirements were: 1) rubber sole 2) classic penny design 3) rough leather interior to grab onto my feet 4) comfy upper That's it. And it took 4 whole years to find the winner! And on top of that, I had to spend $800 as none of the cheaper options met the requirements. I was blown away. Vagabond had the closest "entry" pricing, but after spending a year trying and failing to break in the leather, I gave up and started shopping the designer options.

Love the banter and the unnecessary moving with purpose to different locations for no purpose lol. Weejuns are beaters 1st and foremost and are a joy to wear as such. I’m not into the 2 tones but they are a statement piece. The out fit you have on ( very simple) works perfectly. Another would be jeans or shorts and a camp collar shirt, w/ or w/o prints. The point is just wear ‘em. The whole point of Weejuns are the affordability and fun in the moment and perhaps dipping one’s toe in the loafer style. If after a yr of wear one realizes they love loafers then they should definitely look into makers that offer full grain, or exotic leathers that one would resole or the luxury throw away loafers if they bring you joy. There is very little buyer’s regret when it comes to Weejuns if you buy them for the right reasons.

Yes this is the lovable loafer lowdown i needed. I am curious about the choice of $200. Mostly because i have been recently courted by the beckett simonon loafer ($209) as well as their shoes in general. Would love to hear your thoughts on the deliciousness of this particular loaf. If, that is, that this was not a deliberate choice to avoid discussion of beckett simonon then I will respect your wishes and crawl back to the denny's from which i came.

I have several pairs of Beckett Simonons, including the Cohen loafers. In fact, I just ordered two more pair of the Cohens because I got a 25% off discount code and because they're amazing (they're more traditional/formal than what Michael is showing here though). Their shoes are a phenomenal value IMO....if you're willing to wait the three months to get them. They punch way above their weight and I think they're as good as shoes costing much more. You can almost always get discount codes too. The Cohens are delicious and would really make you stand out while on a date at Denny's.

The denim jacket..? Oh no no N&f isn't good denim they use exported Japanese denim (maybe some Indian) not fit for use by domestic brands This is evident in their price gouging.. with insane markups! Across their entire collection! From the cheapest ones to the mijs SSENSE stocks a lot of n&f along with hing end luxury labels and they have sales 4 time a year where all the n&f stuff (jeans, jackets, shirts, everything) goes 50% off! Even the mij line lolol can you imagine having a 200% markup on a 'made in Japan' jean they're selling people garbage The production they do in Japan is unethical and sometimes even slave labour, it's usually done by Chinese or Korean workers being exploited in Japan so they can call em 'mij' and make them as cheap as possible! That's how ssense can sell those same mij jeans at -50% make money for themselves and n&f...

The problem is these shoes are no longer made in the STATES, most of them are made in China, Vietnan and others. The QUALITY IS NOT THE SAME. Im 73 years old and I WORE weejuns since I was sixteen.
