Crazy seeing this after the RJN video shows the medium size Finalmouse at 46g. You managed to get a bigger plastic mouse with no holes down to within 3g of the Starlight-12.

@@Bollalillo yeah and they’re known and renowned for their standard of build quality, they’re not going to compromise their overall quality just to squeeze 10 less grams. Not to mention ligutech already has the lightest wireless mouse on the market with the superlight..... pretty impressive to me that they made such a sturdy light mouse (with no holes) lmao

Am I weird for not caring about superlight mice? I mean I got a G Pro X Superlight, I put a different battery in, a 1500mAh, yes you read that right, and rubber grips on the sides and buttons... When replacing the battery, after cutting out a few small pieces of plastic the weight went from 63 to 83 grams, with the rubber grips 86 grams. I love it, lasts LONG and it's still light enough, lighter than my G502 Lightspeed (also modded 126 grams with 1000mAh battery)

@@AeseEditsApex in case you're still curious, the two options that come to mind are getting a small batch of gm 8.0 switches and picking out two of the lighter ones (they are 65 +/- 10 grams to actuate, so light ones can be lighter than the stock Omrons), or you could get japanese Omrons d2f-01 that are 55g +/- 10g. The Japanese Omrons are taller than normal switches so you have to sand down the bit of the mouse that pushes on them (and then you can't go back to using regular size switches later). Both are super good switches.

Limited options but some people have used these below. I've not tired them yet and they aren't a normal mouse switch that you would expect to find. I've made a lot of 3D printed mouse shells for the G305 internals, and it's crazy how even with a AAA battery they often come out around 60g. Sure they bend and creak a bit when you actually try to make it bend and creak, but the buttons feel good and when you're gaming and wearing headphones - aka using the mouse as it was intended to - there are no issues with creaking sounds at all. And this is off of an FDM machine. I have been thinking of picking up an SLA machine, both for higher resolution tabletop minis but also to get better finish on my mice. Then, they truly end up with a top notch quality feel. It's absolute insanity that you'd pay 150 bucks for this thing. It literally is a G305 with a charging port and a slightly different shell, not even a very good shell to begin with. It's much more worth to buy a G305 for $30 and print a different shell, it'll probably come out cheaper even if you don't have your own 3D printer and you commission the print from a reputable place. Again, $150 for this mouse? Absolute insanity.

Nice... The G305 though has a difference sensor to the GPW and GPWSL. its an awesome mouse for $40 the G305 and I use them in mods a lot. understated mouse which has been around for well 4 year maybe

Would happily pay you to sort out the side mouse buttons especially the first as the clicking has become mushy, the hold to click you notice when crouching in games as it jitters around when holding it in, only had it 6 months and its breaking! :(

Hi Beardedbob, I just bought a G Pro X SL to replace my regular G Pro and the weight difference is definitely noticeable, can't imagine what an even lighter one would feel like! I also have a Roccat Kain 122 that I really like the shape of but it's just too heavy and from what I've seen of teardowns a lot of the weight is on the top shell. The click tensioning mechanism looks quite complicated but has a lot of excess plastic but I don't know what I can or can't remove like you have shown here. I have a paracord on the way for it so would be convenient to do some serious weight reduction while it's open, still want to keep the stock look though. Have you had the chance to look at the Kain series?

If you are wondering why Logitech themselves dont make thier mice lighter, they dont want to compromise on the build quality of the mouse, so unless they find some other blend of materials to make the mice lighter / or low layers of materials and keep the mice sturdy (i.e. pinching the mice with full force and the mouse not accidently side clicking and not bending and not making any creaking noise, they wont make a new mice.

no doubt a lot of it is so they can get the mice made faster and more consistently. if they push the weight down too far stock you get more QC issues or the cost of production goes up further and will be reflected in the price for the consumer. regardless, the effect will be felt somewhere down the production line. but that means people who mod them will always have something to do at least haha.

Sorry but why do you always cut the connector and leads of the existing battery only to solder them to the leads of the new one, that style of connector is readily available and while it mite take a few more minutes to fiddle with attaching the leads to the tiny contacts it does come out a much more finished product

Its tweaking it to what you prefer. Latenci likes that scroll wheel hence the mod, you could use another or as you prefer keep it stock.

Are the new side buttons noticeably less mushier than the Omrons? I'm considering swapping then out myself and assuming a switch with higher actuation would be less mushy.

Not massively. The swap is more to prevent failure as the Omron sides stop working also. I need to do some more tests through to compare

The white wire is used for some monitoring on some mice on the Logitech it doesn't seem to affect it but on the Model O wireless it doesn't. There is always a risk changing a battery you just have to decided if you want to take that risk.

It can. you can move the battery around to get the right balance for you... this one though its pretty much the same as the stock balance.

Do you happen to know if it’s possible to buy the little wire that holds the scroll wheel down with tension? Mine flew across my room somewhere when I was reassembling lol. It works fine and is held in place by the mounting but makes an unpleasant sound while scrolling sometimes. Thanks!

Yep the 8mm encoder is the direct swap. The cutting into the buttons was for the larger scroll wheel rather than the encoder.
