I was going to say the same thing lol. That girls apex was formed wrong and they were too builk with not enough strength where the smile-line meets the acrylic.
Victoria Melisa you have to be not prepping your natural nail well at all my sets would last me atleast 3 weeks with no lifting but I always change them every week bc I do nails on my own
Nataly Ovalle the form isn’t even fitted right 😭this is the biggest pet peeve of mine. Nobodies nail beds are the same so why aren’t the forms cut to fit each client 🤦🏽♀️ that’s why her form is angled down
the dipping powder has "vitamins and calcium" 🤣 that has to be the funniest shit ive ever heard. dipping powder is just ACRYLIC POWDER. it literally doesnt do shit for the health of your nails. + your nail plate can't absorb anything other than specific oils anyways so nothing you put on your nails is gonna effect them negatively or postively 🙅♀️
These are terrible examples of each nail system... The acrylic application looks so bad, the nail forms were placed too far beneath the natural nail and that's why the nails look like eagle's claws. Also, if you see a salon that dips your entire nail into a communal powder jar, run. It is impossible to sanitize the powder after each customer.
I agree. I do both gel extensions and acrylic extensions on forms in my salon and the form placements and product application were about what you would expect from a brand new tech still in school.
@@rosa5178 they barely can. My parents use colors in pans w brushes lookin like some eyeshadow brushes (not the same of course!) To clean the brushes you need to soak them in alcohol, making them clean anyways. Brushes for acrylics can always b cleaned as pleased
I love how she said the gel extensions being straighter is a personal preference. Anyone who knows about nails...knows that nails without a curve will not hold up. Its nothing to do with preference...it's shotty work
as a nail tech i can tell you that the products used have little to no effect on the nail plate. what really damages the nails is how your nail tech preps your nails and how rough they are.
Brendons Forehead that's exactly what she meant, the roughness of the technician while doing your nails plus while removing them matters. acrylics can be soaked off and if they use a soak off gel these can be soaked of as well, but most of the time studios rush through the removal process and this might lead to thin, brittle and sensitive to touch nails that need to grow out to get back to their original strength
That's why I clicked on the video. I was hoping to see the difference in damage to the natural nail between the extensions and acrylics. I got acrylics and my nails are FUCKED
Isabella Alvarez Acrylic nails are made from a monomer and a polymer. Monomer is the liquid, the powder is they polymer. Those two ingredients make acrylic. Dip nails are a resin and a polymer (the powder) When you cure a resin it makes a polymer. So technically Dip nails can never be acrylic nails because they are two polymers. I understand why most people think that because Acrylic Powder is used as a universal term.
I have my nails painted with gel polish and they cost 15 euros cause I live in Europe and they last so long now is my third week and they still look really good they are not chipping at all
Do they ever measure out enough product for the one person at time of use, rather than continually double dipping heaps of different peoples nails? Surely there would be a hygienic method that could be used?
The video was a good idea, unfortunatelly the place where she made her nails is soooooo bad. This nail tachnician is not enough experienced to make anyones nails. The tip gluing was bad, the acrylic forms was in a bad application, the dipping powder is only for home use. The gel was oke, because everyone is capable applying nail polish perfectly. If you want a really good nail go to a self-employed nail technician, they make a best job (because they have to stay their job "alive").
I really wish she had specified what is her dominant hand (I.e.the one she writes with). She's naturally going to use one hand more, causing that hand to have more damage. I love the idea of this video but I wish she had just spent a few extra weeks and done one manicure at a time
This really kind of ridiculous and misleading information. You don’t have to sculpt acrylics you can use tips with acrylics and vice versa sculpt with gels. Also that curve that she doesn’t like is known as an apex and most people who have had nails for long periods know it’s a necessary structure for having strong nails. Smh.
@@loboyorba9920 An apex is on only necessary when your building longer nails. Its a natural stress point so without strength there longer nails will break. Your NATURAL nails stay healthy by your overall health and how you treat them
I think you misunderstood the question asked. They never specified wether using acrylic or gel or natural nails and when asked in general in shorter nails should have an apex yes they should if your applying acrylic or gel no questions about it. Wether I have inch long natural nails or short natural nails I’ve broken both. Short or long natural nails break from time to time without acrylic or gel wether washing your hair or dishes or just regular everyday stuff so regardless of wether your getting a long or short nail you should always have an apex built in even if just the slightest to reinforce that strength. Period. End of story.
I want to add that all building methods are good and will last 3 to 4 weeks. It just depends on how well they are prepped and structured. All really boils down to your nail technician, and how good they are at their craft. If a nail is not structured properly, they will break. If they are not prepped correctly, they will lift.
Thank you so much!! Our daughter is getting married this weekend and I'm getting my nails done for the first time ever!! Because I've always done my own. I'm going for the Gel as well. 💅 That was my first choice and I'm sticking to it! 😉👍👍
I’m sorry but... Go to an asian nail salon it will look SO *MUCH BETTER THAN THAT MONSTROSITY* Oh btw I want to see Nail Career Education watch this she is also a *PRO*
Yes super true! I went to this whole in the wall nail salon and there were these two asian girls doing me and my moms manicure with gell and it was super thick they were nice came out perfect and was only supposed to be 35 each dollars but for how good they hooked us up I gave them a 25 dollar tip and the nails lasted 4-6 months!
I hope that people see this & run from that salon. Those nail applications are a joke. Who ever did those nails needs to take some classes. Im having a hard time believing that this salon really does nails like that but these days you never can tell.
Those acrylics be looking bulkier than trump’s hair, and that lady ripped you off with that gel nail, for my acrylics I get charged $20 those powder dipped were done poorly, you can not dip the whole nail in there that’s a first sign for you to switch
When I saw the press on nails were 55$ I screamed. Like I dont get my nails done out but I can say that it's definitely cheaper to get nail extensions yourself and do them at home
They aren’t press ons they are gel extensions which is better than press ons the tips are made of hard gel I like pressons that are made from ABS plastic and only last a few days where gel extensions last 3+ weeks and they cost more as the products are not cheap and salons that provide that service use top products😊
sculptured nails don’t automatically give a curved look. they can look exactly like or better than the gel tip nails. as many people have noted about the acrylic, the forms were placed incorrectly and the nail tech used a totally wrong consistency for forms.
You can do all of it at home if you watch enough RU-vid videos lmao I do my own sculpted builder gel nails and they always look better than anytime I’ve ever been to the salon. Saves me $60 a month 🤷🏼♀️
My mom is a nail tech and she says you’re supposed to do three coats of the dip powder not two because it will be more pigmented. Also if it feels very thick on the nail they didn’t file it right either.
Must add that the coverage was very sloppy in all four cases, you can see the mater outside of the nail on cuticle and at the sides. My nails would’ve been done twice for this amount of money.
Après Gel x= extended Gel tips With gel polish color added or regular polish used. (So fully gel extensions) Acrylics are polymer with Monomer, while dip are polymer with a rapid curing glue in layers meaning these two use Acrylic polymer just more finely milled for dip style. Breakdown of nails is closely related to how much your nails are in water ie the service industry etc. Hope this helps
@@fartballs9 I think it was 1:26 because if you see beside the nail polish bottle, you can see on the side of the ring finger that she has a cut. Awful right?
omg the way she was putting on the acrylic forms made me cringe. My family has been doing nails like forever and I’ve been to so many nail salons in my life time and I’ve seen so many bad applications but that made me cringe
Angelina NGUYEN if you see this pls help :( i have recently gotten dip on my real nails and they did the dipping into the jar which is said to be very bad. (I was unaware) but what do you recommend for my natural nails for them to still be nicely painted/strong without breaking :(
I live near that nail salon. I drive past it all the time, never went there and never will. My mom went there ONE TIME to get dip powder done because our nail salon was closes for remodeling and when she came back she had the thickest nails ever and her cuticles were so badly cut and made it looked like a 5 year old did it. She came home angry and upset so I soaked them off for her and did dip powder I had at home for her. I felt so bad:( a girls hair and nails matter a lot lmao
The acrylic ratio was off (too much powder) and nail forms weren't sitting properly under the nail. Dipping nails in a salon is dirty, no two ways about it. This is why I do my own nails at home 😂
Tbh for the first set of nails with the gel press-on, I’ve gotten them before one thing I will say is I thinks it’s healthier on the nail because you’re not putting any harsh chemicals on the and nail but they don’t last long their very bendy and easy to take off. But if you’re looking for a quick way to get your nails done or you want your nails clear then I’ll recommend.
At the place I go to they make you wash and sanitize your hands before the start working on you. Dipping the fingers into the powder....made my mouth drop.
Agree 100%. I have my own LED lamp at home. The other options are too heavy and bulky. Plus, the powder is an inhalation hazard, because it's microfine ground up acrylic plastic.
Yeah Aprés is great for home use but I'd be pissed if I went to a salon and they charged me $55 for a set of them. That's literally half the cost of the kit! If I'm paying to get gel extensions in a salon, I'd expect them be polygel or builder's gel...y'know, something that takes literally any amount of skill or training.
Gel nail polish chips off easily for me so now im trying dip powder, but the lady adds extentions, making it look fake. Which i like. She first takes off The old polish, then she files them, then adds the plastic nail to the tip, then uses the dip powder, then files it down really good(along with the inside) lastly she paints them and dries them with the UV light.
as a nail technician i was a little confused with what she was saying because the terms were being used incorrectly. "extension" basically means the extension of your nails so technically the acrylics and the apres gel x nails are both considered "extensions" so it didnt make sense how she said she preferred "extensions" over "forms" when both services were extensions of her nail. also, "forms" are the paper forms she used to extend the nails with the acrylics; which she said is not as good which is untrue as its proven that forms are more sturdy than tips (the tips that are glued onto the edge of your nails for acrylics, gels, etc). this is because over time the glue starts to lose its bond to the nails and eventually snaps off while the forms is one whole structure so its less likely to break. also you cant say one system is worse than the other if you're forcefully pressing down on it because you're purposely releasing its bond from your nails so how is that really fair?
3 weeks? Girl I made my £35 gel nail extensions last 5 almost 6 weeks. No chips, no colour fade, no breakages. My coin went far for the money for sure.
I’m a dip powder nail technicians and my colour usually is pretty pigmented. (Except for a colour or 2) it might just be the product. Usually my dip manicure last a lot longer then gel polish.
From so done who gets my nails done on the regular, acrylic isn’t all that bad. It honestly just depends on how long you get them done. I’ve noticed the longer they are fresh from the salon the more overgrowth there will be which will lead to the nails breaking easier in the two to three weeks before getting a fill. Where as getting them shorter makes the chances of breakage more slim. Either way though it is still possible for them to break regardless depending on how hard they’re used. Like for my use my right hand more then my left so my right hand nails tend to break more often then my left.
The healthiest for your nails is gel polish. The dip powder is very unsanitary because everyone and their mama dips their nails in that little jar and there’s maybe a spec of vitamins in it lol it’s a form of acrylic like the other two. I’ve never heard of the X one but I’m assuming that’s also acrylic. Gel polish and “Real” hard gel are best for ur nails. It doesn’t cause allergies and has no odor . I’m a licensed Cosmetologist 😉
Next time try the dipping powder with gel polish and see if you like that? You use clear gel polish and use a cuticle pusher to sprinkle the dip powder onto the polish then cure.
And it also depends on the nail stylist if they take there time and not doing it fast and doing them thin they last longer I've been getting my nails done since I was 12 I've experimented with lots of different nail salons there are some people that actually take up the time because they love what they do those are the ones that you know that will do a good job. I can say I like the dipping Powder depending on the technique that you're using and the powder isn't cheap gel is one of my favorites but right now GeL X I can say it's way better it last longer and the nail l tips nail salons you its amazing and they last more longer
After many trial and errors. For my nails that last the longest for me is gel and nail extensions (the plastic one). And plus you can be much more creative with your designs with gel manicure. Sns is fast and quick application and supposedly claimed healthier for nails but it breaks during 3 week mark. Meanwhile my gel still lasts.
Dip lasts longer hands down. It shouldn’t be that transparent, they didn’t apply enough coats of color and didn’t file or shape it after which it needs.
Sorry daring that you paid for those nails...YIKES! I do my own nails (acrylic), self taught 15 years ago, but they are absolutely beautiful and I dont have to worry about contamination and no one uses my tools & product except me ❤
