Sure, making a plugin signal chain of a preamp, eq, compressor can get you good results. Digital emulation is pretty impressive these days but have you ever been curious about creating your own signal chain with real analog gear?
A 500 Series Rack is a great cost effective way to start incorporating analog gear into your workflow and I’m taking a look at one of my favorites: The Radial Workhorse Six Pack.
In this video I’m going over all of my favorite functions of the Radial Six Pack, how analog gear is tactile and feels real, and the feeling of creating your first lunchbox.

So rad, it’s nice to see a company so focused on creating well designed products. I don’t have a lot of other Radial Gear but they make some other awesome pieces of gear like the EXTC500 which is a guitar pedal reamper that fits in a lunchbox. They’re really creative with their products!

Wishing I got this instead of the API. I just had experience with the API so I got was I was familiar with…the xlr only kind of kills me lol

I feel like most people get the API because they’ve heard of it and not to mention API invented the 500 series format. But when you compare the features, design, and the cost of their rack vs radial and other manufacturers they‘be been a bit behind on the times in terms of innovating their 500 series rack. They’re for sure the original and i respect that but there’s a lot of alternatives out there that are really improving upon what API has created. Never too late to sell that sucker on Reverb 😂

@@_philchoi you’re not wrong, but honestly the API gets the job done enough for me as I integrated it with a patch bay via DB25 connectors. watching your video inspired me to mess around with inputs 7/8 and I just made a big breakthrough in my studio so thanks for that :)

As long as gear gives you a good workflow that you’re comfortable and happy with that’s all that matters! That’s also so awesome to hear that you were able to mess around with the 7&8 Channel and find a good breakthrough that’s always a good day in the studio. I definitely haven’t utilized the 7&8 Channels and now i gotta try for myself too!
