I would like to mention that Tru Grit gives a 25 percent discount for law enforcement. I purchased two of them for 3000. At the time they had free shipping also. The belt has a lifetime warranty as well. I love the magnetic resistance. It’s great for breaking up the running with what feels like an uphill walk or low resistance sled push. You won’t be able to run when it’s on full resistance. Their shipping left a little to be desired as far as securely packaging it. But their customer service was great and were very helpful and always answered the phone. Just my two cents. Thanks Coop.
I tried one of these today for the first time. It took a couple of minutes to get used to but, oh man, I'm in love with these. Just walking on one of these got my heart pumping and the sweat going way more than walking on a standard treadmill. Also, after about a half hour, I get some tightness in my IT band just walking on a standard treadmill but felt fine on one of these. I've avoided doing any cardio on treadmills because of my IT band issue but this seems to be my answer. I love these.
I have the assault air runner. it is a quality machine. I love it so much- it adjusts to your speed and feels so natural after a while. I have it in front of a tv and will just zone out on my favorite show and get a few miles in. it is expensive- but with the rising gym prices and gyms being closed these past two years- its value become more apparent
I've had the assault runner pro for about a month now and it was absolutely worth $3k. It's soooo quiet and there's minimal thumping, so it saves me some trouble with the gf trying to sleep and the downstairs neighbors. Also I'm a bodybuilder and therefore not a very proficient runner - the curved surface saves my feet and joints and allows me to pretend like I'm an athlete by running pain free. 10/10 would buy again!
I have limited ceiling height in my basement. Can you please measure your deck and tell me the height on the front, center, and rear. I haven’t bought the Assault Runner Pro yet because I’m 6’3” and don’t know if I’ll have the ceiling height. TrueForm lists their trainer’s deck height at 14 inches in the center and 16 inches in the front. No rear measurement. Thank you.

I just left a comment/question about the AssaultFitness Air Runner. Can you tell me if it is in fact the same machine as the Assault Runner Pro, but just with a different name?
As a runner who started doing crossfit a few years back, I was super excited when our box got one about 4 years back (Assult Runner). The deck was so stiff, it felt like running one something harder than concrete.. Also, it felt like it was constantly on an incline which aggravated by my high hamstring issues . It was more difficult than running outdoors, whereas most treadmills are the opposite. Not neccessarily a bad thing, but I learned pretty earlier on that this was not a machine I was going to be able to log a ton of miles on. It just wasn't comfortable for me. The idea of it forcing you an certain form sounds good in theory, but sometimes that works like trying to force yourself into a pair of shoes that don't fit you quite right, even though they are techically the right size for you. Definitely try out the model you're interested in a few tines minimum before you pull the trigger.
Have the trueform runner thanks in part to your extensive reviews on it. Makes me smile every morning when going to the garage to workout. It's a beautiful machine, zero regrets.
@@GarageGymReviews hey coop, are you getting a noise on your assault runner elite? It sounds like the tread is rubbing against something and it squeaks.

@legionofb00m96 Absolutely. That treadmill is my baby and still works just as well as the day I bought it. My weight goes between 270-295 and I sometimes wear a weight vest or two while walking for probably 10-12 hours a week. Some of the best money I've ever spent in my entire life and I couldn't possibly be more happy.
Nice that you are going to do the motorized and non-motorized comparison down the road...IMO motorized are more practical for a home gym owner, especially when you can fold the bed up when done.
@@beggsjoe Must be nice to live in a neighborhood where the streets aren't full of feral pitbulls and lunatics shooting at each other every few days within audible range of his house.
I have always thought the same thing. Not that I wanted it all the bells and whistles (more stuff to break), but the Bowflex we just got has a 10 inch tablet built in to watch movies, bluetooth to work with applications like Zwift, stream your movies, videos where you can run through different cities, incline/decline, etc. But yeah, all that I mentioned and more- $1699. So I also struggle to understand how something that is 80 percent the same, minus possibly some really high quality bearings on the manual models and a beefy belt- costs almost 2x as much. And the most expensive part of most treadmills- the motor- is not needed.
@@Skygooose I love running outside, but in the midwest it's not always possible. Maybe you technically can, but it can be extremely dangerous certain times of year.
@@kevinmach730 Chiming in from the Canadian Rockies where there’s snow or ice or avalanches on the high alpine mountain trails ten months of the year ... and I run outdoors year round unless the temps dip below -40°F. When it’s bitterly cold I run the logging roads. I keep my truck running with the heat blasting. I run several hundred yards away from the truck, turn around and run back to the truck, jump in and warm up, move my truck down the road a few hundred yards, and repeat. It can be done. Canadian girls are tough. 💪🏻
Lol... Yeah if you don't understand how much stuff costs. The cost goes into the run feel in these. Run feel on treadmills is awful that's why people don't like it. Running on these feels great for a lot of people there hate treadmills. And 3 grand isn't that much especially in today's world lol. And running outside is cool if you're in a nice area...
Coop, just a suggestion. When you say what’s good for most people, I don’t think you are taking most into account. I’m in pretty good shape for a 65 year old and have used both non and motorized treadmills. There is no doubt for us older folks a manual treadmill is very hard to use. Maybe you think your demographic is only young people but I think you may be wrong and should expand your picks to perhaps older age groups also. Also, when you say motorized require more repairs, in general you are right, when in a commercial gym. But if it’s in a home gym, single use as you state, a good quality treadmill electric or not will last forever.
Hey Coop what about running/walking backwards on these as an alternative to backwards sled pulls? Have heard it's bad to do that on motorized treadmills so might be good info for your manual treadmill reviews.
If you time it right Assult fitness offers the Assault runner pro for 3k and they throw in the Assault Airbike pro for free! I ordered it I believe last year for black friday, but the previous year they had offered this for new years. I already had a Echo Bike so I sold the AirBike, so I ended up paying 2200 bucks for a brand new Air runner, which to me was justifyable in my opinion. It's really cool to do short sprints on these, and I certainly feel my hamstrings working while running for longer durations. I'm as average as an average Joe can be, so I'm not some fitness buff...hell I'm like 20% body fat, but I use this thing a lot more than my rower, or echo bike. When I'm feeling lazy AF or tired, I just hop on and start walking, then get warmed up and do a short 30min jog. It's worth it folks, it really is.
The cup holders are great for the remote to the tv your water bottle and your carbohydrates food if your distance running the cup holders are a must , and the elite design looks better than the pro in my opinion ! Paid $3,500 with free shipping tax included and have already put over 2,000 miles on it and absolutely love it ! Lifetime warranty on the Assault Elite treadmill also , I also pay $13 a month for the peloton app and use the assault elite to do pelotons for marathon training and love it ! The digital display is also amazing !!! Coop is the reason I bought mine ! Wait for Black Friday and Assault usually has insane deals , where they throw in a free bike with their treadmill purchase !!!
It's like you're a fly on wall in home gym. Have been researching and heavily debating between AssaultRunner or motorized. Wifey does long distance running and won this year. Picked up the Nordictrack 1750 (fantastic so far) but I refuse to close the 4 tabs with my wants. Will keep them open until next years big purchase! Good informative vid.
I used to have a precor commercial one, Motor died out of warranty…replacement cost was prohibitive. Constantly had to realign the rollers because belt was slipping an drifting. Bought a assault runner pro…never looked back. Just grease it from time to time and change batteries. That’s all. Sure it doesent elevate, display is not fancy…but speed changes are instant. No feature on a motorized tread can beat that. If you do Intervalls, 30 sec on, 15 off for example, can’t do it with a motorized one. No fiddling with speed buttons, just running. Almost like outside.
Glad I'm not the only one put off by the prices on these. I don't doubt that they're quality built machines, but 4 grand for an AR Elite? And it only has a basic console? Half the price gets me a Cadillac, near commercial grade home treadmill with a nice touch screen, controls, and loads of bells and whistles.
My gym has the assault pro runner! It’s the best equipment and thus far best runs I had! It’s 10x harder than your regular treadmill or running outside. Definitely worth buying!
Would love to see reviews for the incline manual treadmills. They're much cheaper ranging from $100 to several $100 for the nicer ones with resistance. These are much more budget friendly and there's hardly any reviews for them so it's almost impossible to see which ones are worth getting.
Can you review the bells of steel blitz manual treadmill, it has magnetic resistance and wondering if you think that is an important feature to have, thanks!
Watching his other videos he seems to about that life, in his video talking about the remote coaching platform he shows his (admittedly modest) physique.
I work at woodway and these machines are built for greatness. Trust me i cant say what we use but trust me the reason they are so expensive is the stuff we put in them trust me your paying for the right price💪🏽🔥💯
Motorized sucks for fixing which costs time and money. Ive helped manage a staff gym for a prison for 10 years. Recently stepped away to concentrate on my home gym. 2nd purchase was a curved treadmill. Love it. Hands down best money I've spent for cardio. It's harder which is great for time restraint workouts. Longevity is so much more efficient for me.
i bought a nice used electric mill for 300 bucks in 2021 and spent 400 for an elliptical machine. Most of the year I run outside, include doing HIIT, on a nice track which feels better than running on a mill. An elliptical machine is much kinder to your legs.
Thanks for doing this video, a very timely post because I’ve been debating which motorized treadmill to get for a couple days now. GET OUT OF MY HEAD COOP.
Signature Fitness looks like they decided to give True Grit a run for budget option. Hope a review comes out before more price increases hit so I can make a decision.
You and your team truly have the best job in the world. If you're ever looking to get rid of stuff I will pay the shipping! Nothing large ships APO...Looking forward to the next video

Because people are dumb enough to spend money on something they don't understand. People also refer to it as being "new money" which are the kind of people who go from $25k a year jobs to $100k+ and run head first into debt
I can see the curvature adding to costs as well as tracks over a belt, BUT that should at most offset the savings of not having a motor. Also non motorized belt treadmills have been around for a long time. They don't cost as much as similar powered treadmills.
I have the assault elite ! Would also recommend it ! For the extra $500 to $1,000 you get the cup holders which are a huge benefit , I’m currently training for a marathon on it and absolutely love it , you can put 10 to 20 miles on it and it’s equivalent to running outside , keep in mind when you first get the assault it takes a couple days to get used to
I’m glad you mentioned this! I was searching the comments for somebody who distance trains on the assault. Has it helped with your cadence? My thought is manual would help over a mechanical tread.
this is exactly the video I have been wanting. Can you maybe do a video comparing cable attachments? There's so many out there and not sure what is worth the money and what isn't
Where can you go to actually try them Out looking to get one but would like to test them out first looking to work on sprinting you know that sled resistance feel
Back in 1990s, my mom bought a similar treadmill (no belt power but not curved) .. I put it together for her and she couldn't seem to get it moving ... so I tried it .. I hiked bluffs with my digs, walked & ran up and down stairs many times daily.. and I could hardly get that track moving. And when I did settle into a rhythm, the shin pain came on fast (again, a flat running board). This questions: is a smaller, lighter weight person going to struggle more than a larger heavier person to push off and move the belt? And: obviously a senior might lose balance or footing on regular treadmill, or get distracted, and be thrown backward. But is a curved kinetic tractoon safer? If it provides better natural movement for feet, knees, hips ans can be used by weaker persons, or smaller and lighter weight, I can see where $2k might be well spent.
Have never used one of these. Are they better for running form or something, for reducing impact? Is it a better stride than a regular treadmill? Just wondering what prompted the development of these in the first place.
I run outdoor and on the track mostly. Tried these manual treadmill couple times and couldn't get use to it, especially if you land on your forefoot. The curve on the belt make me overstride when i pick up the pace.
I am about to purchase a manual treadmill but I can not decide. It's between the Assault Runner Elite at $3499.00 or the Xebex Airplus Runner at $3899.00. The price and size difference are not an issue. My issue is function. I would like one that is good for running for distance but the added resistance features of the Xebex, resistance, sled workout etc is tempting. I also have the added issue that my 80yr old father will probably try to get on it and walk or possibly jog so safety for him is an issue. For this reason it seems the Xebex might be the better option with the added resistance keeping him from loosing control. However the one comparison I've been able to find gives the impression that the assault runner is much better for distance running. Would you have an opinion on this? Any opinions would be appreciated.
Coop (or GGR crew!), any predictions on Torque getting into the non-motorized treadmill game or some magnetic resistance form runner? Anxiously awaiting their fan bike and would be curious to see their interpretation for this treadmill genre.
I did not know there were non motorized ones I was wandering why it could not exist (and in fact they exist) but I am surprised by their prices I would have thought that they would be much cheaper than motorised treadmills but obviously that's not the case for all models. I'll continue running on the spot in my kichen to warm up and then run outside 😅
Coop: Trueform just dropped price on lower model to match the drop in Assault Runner Elite, which now is only $500 more than the pro. A) thoughts? Still sane pic as the video at these prices? B) if I can get a basically new true grit from a friend for half off am I getting a steal or throwing away a grand that should go towards one of the better ones? Kind of bothered it doesn’t switch to meters but can use my brain to calculate. Thanks!
is there much difference in sound between any? Also curious if differences in surface reduce overall sound output like Trueforms options of turf, rubber, track, etc
@garagegymreviews Hey Coop, are you getting a noise when you run on your assault runner elite? It sounds like the tread is rubbing against something and it squeaks.
Hi. Could you share your thoughts on the Sole ST90 slat treadmill? The Peleton Slat treadmills were all recalled for safety... So I am torn between the Sole ST90 and Assault Runner Pro... Yes, I realize one has a motor and the other not.
I was scrolling through the comments for reviews on the SB Fitness CT 400 manual treadmill also. I hope someone posts a review or video about them. Hopefully, Coop can do a detailed review on it too.
Marathon runner here, considering the Assault Runner. Once I get used to it, should I expect to be able to train at the same speeds I'm used to on my motorized treadmill (very similar to outside running effort) or will the Assault Runner always be at a slower pace for the same effort? Thanks.
Also a marathon runner, I didn't care for it. I felt it was harder than running outside on a relatively flat surface and it aggravated my hamstrings. I wanted to love it, but it wasn't for me. To be fair to them, I don't think that's who this product is intended for. I think it's more to incorporate running into HIIT training workouts, rather than catering to runners who tend to spend the majority of their fitness training on it.
I see so many knock offs of these on marketplace but would never pull the trigger not knowing which are good or bad. I feel like I have to stick with names brand here
About how high do these get you off the floor? I’m 6’6” with only 8’ ceilings in my home gym. I like head banging, but not like that. I’m not seeing the tread height in the manufacturer’s websites.
Freaking amazing. They take all the expensive parts out of a treadmill, the motor, the incline, the monitor features. Then they charge twice as much or more for a basic mill as a fully decked out motorized mill would cost and the words 'bargain' and 'value' are even being used in the video? 'Racket' and 'scam' seem more fitting.
I got the tru grit grit runner about two months ago. I have about 175 miles in it. Very disappointed in the build quality. The belt is loud because it is light and bounces. Parts don’t line up well. From a runners perspective curved treadmills are much more comparable to outdoor running because of the hamstring activation. I just wish I spent the extra 1000 bucks for the assault runner…..
Not surprised to hear this, unfortunately. We haven’t had anything break, but the quality is certainly lacking in comparison to the competition, but I think the price reflects that. As I mention in the video, I recommend the AssaultRunner Pro for most people despite it costing more than the TRUGRIT.
