THE BEST method of applying Laser Toner Resist I have EVER come across!

I came across a channel called “The CrafsMan SteadCraftin” here on RU-vid when I was looking for information on making a silicon putty mould and in the process came across the following video of his as well. • How To Etch Stainless ... . I was super skeptical that his method of applying a resist using a heat gun would work, I mean I am doing everything according to the recommended instructional methods I have thus far come across and they produce mediocre results and certainly with the laser glossy photo paper which were very hard (and frustrating) to get the toner to adhere. A heat gun is THE BEST method and I find that by heating the silver for 2 minutes makes it hot enough to bond the toner to it as tenaciously as a rat terrier to a rat. Be sure to check out Crafsman’s channel, he has an extremely useful library of crafting techniques that translate into jewelry making! Thank you Crafsman for taking the pain out of applying laser toner resists!

Thank you Sonne For the ones that have Cricut machines, (or have a friend with one) the resist made with Vinyl is also a good choice. The silicone mat can be purchased at the Dollar store.

@lightandcolour Thank you! Yes, I purchased a Silhouette cutter last year and the stickers work exceptionally well. I find fine lines and more intricate designs a little more challenging with the stickers (primarily weeding them) but for bolder designs the stickers are 100% the best.

Thank you for the shout-out, my friend! :D I really like your approach to laying the design down onto the metal (less chance of burns). ALSO - I'm gonna have to get me some of those silicone pads! Your transfer came out very clean! Definitely a good method.

It’s been a long, long time since I’ve been excited about applying Laser Toner Resists, your video has made a huge difference! Yes, the silicon cookie sheets are great, I use a bigger one for layout when applying the Tuck tape to the silver. Also parchment paper is amazing with managing the sticky tape. Thanks again!

kiff frankham It is seriously the most fail safe method of adhering the laser photo paper toner, something that is VERY hit and miss using the iron. The heat gun heats the metal to the right bonding temperature which the iron can’t and it’s fast.

@@SonneCreations Thanks soooo much. I do try and keep things simple and educational esp for the kids. The channel and what I do are a really good thing to help me stay busy and productive.
