Suspension and wheels!?

Ive got a standard cooper (soft top in bright yellow, black alloys), and its a nightmare looking for mod recommendations. Cosmetics, i've blacked all the chrome on the outside, carboned interior chrome. Had a custom stainless steel exhaust, rolled end like old old minis! then a Racechip for performance, estimate 25% more power. I've not got a dyno to test, but i know i'm only on 3/4 throttle in places i used to be at full throttle! ;)

From my recent experience purchasing a used mini look out for: 1: timing chain wear: plastic guards can become brittle and break, discarding pieces into the oil and throughout the engine. Repairs can be done yourself but are time consuming. Not to mention pulling the motor apart to "clean up" guard bits. Listen for a slapping/ rattling noise coming from passenger side. Especially with a cold engine. Also called the death rattle. 2. Oil starvation due to turbo charger seals wearing down and brittling. This causing oil to be burned through the charger. 3. HPFP- high pressure fuel pumps are prone to up and dying. Codes read misfire and car runs rough at an idle. Sometimes will turn on and just die. Or run very rough in low gear All the problems are not cheap to fix and need to be addressed ASAP. Watch out for dealers the "band-aid" them. wish I would have known these things sooner, as I am not oblivious with cars, but minis are very different (especially from my 65 Chevy c10).

The car drop a little bit of fuel and the exhaust as it's a larger bore makes a proper epic noise!

Coilovers are a harsh change. Quite firm for everyday. I’d go for a lowering spring from eibach. Super compliant but also drops it and stiffens at the same time 👌🏻 also cheaper!

Not sure the mods are meant to reach boundaries. subtle changes made a big difference in the way that car drove!

I think what hes trying to say, and I second it, is that none of this warrants the fancy new "m240" name you gave it...all you did was just slap some basic mods on it and called it something different....its just a standard modded mini cooper S, and one of those mods is just a super basic plug-in/piggyback "tune".

Kill joys for pointing out that adding a couple of very basic mods doesnt make a mini (or any car for that matter) worthy of being labeled an entirely new version of the car? It's not like it's a brabus Mercedes, dinan BMW, saleen/shelby/roush mustang, etc...its a mini with a couple of mods. So alright. Guess I'm a kill joy then. Because if that's how mods work now then I'll just start calling my mini the "mini countryman JCW m650 edition"....

Mainly that he popped on a couple of the most basic plug & play mods available on the market and called it a day, but not without first giving the car a fancy new name to insinuate that the car was pro-tuned by some sort of, well, pro tuner, or was rebuilt/performed an engine swap or something actually worthy of having its own name to it....if I ever pulled up to this "m240" on the road with my modded mini I'd make 100% sure to blow its doors (and m240 stickers) clean off.

2008 mini, engine problem, ,overheating, replaced parts thermostat, sensors, now check engine, and who know what else is broken? Can't pass inspection now even if everything seems to be okay,, what a nightmare car with only 50000 miles. Real shame for BMW !

Ouch, yeah that sucks...definitely the n14 engine though since its 2008. I've heard nothing but complaints about that engine, that's how I was able to guess haha. I've got the n18 engine and its had no problems at all, it really has been great. Just a bummer that they had to basically put out a total dud engine first in order to manufacture one that is more legit..

Also just bc BMW owns MINI doesnt mean they manufacture them from a BMW plant or something like that...coopers are still made in Oxford, clubman/pacemans in Austria, and JCW's in France...BMW just owns and operates mini's brand..the cars themselves arent entirely manufactured by BMW.

Whoever makes videos about Mini Cooper is paid by someone to do so, the car is nothing but problem, crazy expensive to fix BMW should fix it for free because they purosely made a lemon car to make money out of young people, shamful scam nothing else!

Hmm I fear you may have underestimated the modifications slightly... coilovers would be to harsh for an every day ride. The exhaust is made of the highest quality with 100% better sound. The filter is Pipercross... they kick ass. And it’s got a tone more power! This mini rocks! However everyone is entitled to an opinion. So thanks for commenting! 👍🏼

I'd not be that polite, coilovers on UK roads you'd have to be bleeding crazy or plain stupid... a subtle drop with springs would be a great compromise, good handling & comfort above everything else... a cheap exhaust... erm what exhaust you running on your car & have you any vids for bragging rights???!!??? & a rubbish filter Piper have always had a good reliable reputation.. heat soak pmsl... seriously this isn't much of an issue, 1st not a race car nor in a race, 2nd it's turbo charged & has an intercooler so that warmish air does get cooled down alot... I mean we could talk about the induction units which use the snorkel & the bonnet vent... which unfortunately doesn't utilise a negative pressure breather tube aka for that higher vacuum pressure is created rather then the reduced flow through the vent only...

Coil overs are a lot more stiff than springs hence why most track cars use coil overs, anyone with an ounce of car knowledge knows that, what do you think the car comes without the factory....springs!
