I think, having not too much cash and rather investing it, saves the most money long-term. First, you can't buy as much, second you are save of inflation and third you gain money from investing.

Money is energy. When we use it we share energy with others. Let say that you go to farmer market and buy fruits. You just share energy with the farmer who is selling the fruits. He will use the money to take care of his family and do something that will make him happy. So we just share energy with someone.

My favorite tip is the one on partnership! Being married to an individual with the same growth mindset and values will most certainly have the most powerful impact on the finances. I am lucky to be married to a great one too! I love that you want to take care of your parents, we don't have to, they are good on their own. However we do live by the rule of giving away 10 percent of all of our income that comes in to our treasured charities and church. I think giving 10 percent sounds counterproductive to saving money, but because it is a spiritual law for us, I feel that our finances have really prospered and have be protected over the years. Ultimately having that spirit of giving to something greater than ourselves, example parents as you do, church, or charities is really powerful because it taps into something deeper than just ourselves!

But that could be with friends or any relationship. In Japan, is normal Im some communities to do an alliance between 5 friends of the same age, no family, and look after the others including financials. They give a money to the group montlhy, and invest money any month in one of the group, plus the needs or emergencies they have. A lot of old people in Okinawa live like that.

Like always, I appreciate that you share your ideas and wisdom here on RU-vid. I'm a 21-year-old working college student here in the Philippines, and many would say that I'm "kuripot", which is the Tagalog term for "stingy." Many people, especially those who are the same age as me, say I'm not living my life the way I'm supposed to just because I don't want to buy new stuff or eat out every single weekend, not thinking that I only want to be responsible with where I spend my hard-earned money on. Besides, I learn to appreciate what I have and find joy outside of material things because of this lifestyle that I follow. So thank you for your words. You make me more confident that I am doing what's best for myself. :)

When I first watched minimalism videos, it made even more frugal than I already am. I started spending less and even scrimped on food that I wanted to eat if it were too "expensive" in my category. Suffice it to say, I deprived myself of many things. Then, one day, I realized that is wrong. Why then was I working two jobs if I couldn't even buy cinnamon buns every now and then? (good quality cinnamon buns are expensive here). So after listening to minimalist gurus for 4months straight, I slowly transitioned to becoming an essentialist. We should still find the balance in everything. :)

I do believe that saving money is to enrich ourself mentally and psychologically. One's satisfaction is built upon our mental state. If a person is happy about their life, money is just something they use when necessary. That's why you have made a point that money is just a tool and we need to invest outselves. Let's spend our money on skills or whatever useful to use, then we can feel more satisfied.

My husband and I met in Hawaii 36 years ago. We visit often and our dream is to one day have our own home there. Your happiness level there is much more than it would be some place else because it is likely where you belong and find joy. For me being near the ocean fills my spirit. I think dreaming is so important and spending money to improve our lives, our wellbeing or to get the money flowing is so important. When we were young my husband offered to paint the house we were renting for money off our rent every month and it worked. I also try to only buy what I can pay cash for. In fact I make sure with my products I give enough to clients to last 4-5 months. It is my way to help others find joy and save money. I think we can all do this and push greed to the back. Love your channel! 🙌🏻🧡🍑Lisa

I completely agree with you about investing as well as bargaining. I saved enough to pursue a Post-Graduate program in Canada and it is truly an investment. And money is just a tool totally. Also, I usually see people who have debts often have many pets. Pets are expensive and may be sometimes this expense also requires rethinking.
@MalamaLife
@MalamaLife 2 года назад
Yes! I learned that the hard way. I LOVE my dogs, but I underestimated how expensive it would be to have pets. Of course, it's worth it to have them around, but I think I would've prepared more.
@thenopedetective
@thenopedetective 2 года назад
People really should be more careful about buying pets! I know too many students who got a cat thinking it was low commitment only for the cat to have special dietary needs or required surgery or medications. Pet owners really should be (financially) prepared for these common issues before taking on animals they can't properly care for :/

One rule I like to impose when buying for the business is, "Will it make us money?", which normally makes it a simple yes or no decision. To a certain extent, this can also be applied to personal purchases. Great video! The way you present the subject, it almost feels spiritual.

I see people own big pieces of land everywhere in the country,so much that they don't need,while others suffer in the slums,and I am talking about leaders who could help those suffering,I mean won't they die and leave it all? I am not a minimalist but,I disagree with the excessive material accumulation,where people say they are saving for idk,great grandkids, that's reasoning is devoid of human decency! I am glad that I was always able to understand what do I need vs what do I want! And I still follow that mentally now more than ever! I understand the value of the money (that is how hard it is to get them) so I spend carefully! But as you said Sophie, I do spend some money on something that really makes me happy, such as a holiday somewhere sometimes as in my case living my life without traveling would kill me! So traveling it’s a need for me as I see myself as a bird who needs to fly once in a while! Loved a lot the part where you insisted on the importance of helping each other grow! Enough with this individualistic and highly competitive society! Let’s share more and focus on others as well as life it’s a lot about mutual love and quality relationships!! Was great to see you again dearest Sophie!! 💖🥂

Traveling is so important for me too! As you said, free birds need to fly once in a while :) I like that so much. I think going into my 30's I'm really learning the value of quality relationships and how it can take us really far in life. Thanks so much Miahela

@@MalamaLife I'm exactly the same! I do value relationships much more now and I am proud of that! I am working now on my unconditional presence and love towards others, not easy but I try my best! 💞

Sophie, So truthful in your video.The different synario's you have described on how to save money 💰 are brilliant. I was going to invest in Big coin several years ago. Big mistake on my judgement, anyhow Great video!.

For example: smartphone *is this vital for my well-being? - Not very much. That can cause addiction.. * is this something I need for my day-to-day routine? - Unfortunately, it is. Modern life forces life with smartphone.. * Is this purchase out of my own insecurity or something the media is pushing me to buy? - Media breeds another media actually.. * If I didn't buy this, what's the worst that could happen? - It won't happen very often, but in emergency, smartphone is necessary. Contacting is emergent!
