I love the idea of this deck! I've been gathering the cards i need ever since i saw the decklist. I literally finished putting it together last night. I can't wait to win or die lol 😂

Hmm. This will be interesting to see how it does in tournaments in the near future. My all-time favorite, K'rrik, is absolutely devastating with potential T1-2 wins; however, it is still quite the glass cannon. I might be interested in adopting this if it shows potential.
@cedhtv
@cedhtv 5 месяцев назад
I personally think this has glass cannon problmes to. Like 45 lands! But I guess it can fall back on opposition agent control. But I personaly think the winrate will drop over time.

I enjoy your deck techs. They actually work unlike the majority of these mtg channels that have a concept but fizzle the second a counter spell happens

Well this will fizzle the second a counterspel hits ad naus. Or well you can find bosewho who shelters all and you can find opposition agent. But still. This can be kinda all in.

Braids is as fast as varragoth, but with a game plan if the turn 3 win fails, which makes mulligan for interaction bad, but can compete with fast decks.
@raedien
@raedien 5 месяцев назад
Yeah. I was tuning Sidisi roughly a year and a half ago, eventually moved to Braids got to the same list. I didn't play during Kaldheim so I had no clue about Varragoth as an options. Braids is much less telegraphed.
@anywhereroam9698
@anywhereroam9698 5 месяцев назад
He just needs to attack. You can declare attackers and activate before moving to blockers. So even if they block and kill him you can have already got the tutor off.
@anywhereroam9698
@anywhereroam9698 5 месяцев назад
You can wait for blockers to be announced so you can see if he’ll live or die, before activating. If you have attacked and they go to remove him you can tutor in response.

In casual settings where I play, Varragoth makes the game much more interesting, for better or for worse ngl lol He becomes an amazing politics card with the group and always has a pressence on the board even if you don't use his tutor ability. While I do agree Varragoth is very telegraphed, especially in a cedh setting, I think just having that threat to vamp tutor anything is enough to warrent players to potentially waste 1 interaction against him.

I haven't had the chance to play against this deck but it definitely feels like it will do way better against people who don't know what they are playing against. I would assume that a lot of the time losing to it ends up feeling like when you accidentally guess wrong what deck the opponent is bringing in Legacy and you get killed by storm turn 1 because you keep a hand without FoW x) Total mana value under 40 is so nuts x)
@cedhtv
@cedhtv 5 месяцев назад
I will agree to this.
@xSkye629x
@xSkye629x 5 месяцев назад
It does, even in casual. I've been playing the version with mono Sidisi at the helm (the jank version with like 70+ lands) since she came out like a decade ago. Fun jank deck, but folds to interaction once the table knows what's coming/when to interact with it

This is the closest someone has gotten on understanding the deck even though your still a bit wrong on the sickening dreams combo. You use March bc you always want to ad nuas your deck. ATM Aetherflux is the main win with Battlethopter bc once Aaetherflux is resolved you can flash in all the zero drops.
@cedhtv

Not all decks has Aetherflux and or the Battlethopter. It was more of an overview of the varragoth decks on EDH TOP 16.

Outside of the opposition agent line i wonder if sidisi would just be better? You don't have to wait a round to attack, the card goes into your hand instead if top of library, and turns any 1 or 2 mana reanimation spell into a demonic tutor. I know it was popular a long time ago, i wonder if anyone has tried it out with the newer cedh cards
@cedhtv

Yeah sidisi would do the same more or less.

As someone who hasn’t done these kinds of statistics in years, what would be considered a “statistically significant” amount for these videos? Like how many tournaments as I see the result and p value a lot but moreso what is typically the floor in “magic tournament entry” terms?
@cedhtv
@cedhtv 5 месяцев назад
the Null Hypothesis (H0) states that there's no significant difference in average winrates between two player groups: 'WINS' (players who won games) and 'LOSS_DRAW' (players who lost or drew) in tournaments. H0 assumes that any winrate differences are likely due to random chance, not a real advantage. TWe try to statistical test checks if the data supports rejecting H0 and concluding a meaningful difference in winrates between these groups.
@Lazydino59
@Lazydino59 5 месяцев назад
@@cedhtv thank you. Maybe to better clarify my question: what is the threshold (be that wins, entries, etc), which you reject h0? Like “at approximately X tournament entries/games played, cedh tv determines this to be a representative sample”. What would X be?

Varragoth _is_ the best mono 🅱️. I really don't think K'rrik is good. Enthusiasts may object, but the deck requires a a lot of resources and moving parts/spells to get going. Too much, if you ask me. Varragoth on the other hand is almost guaranteed to present a win after resolving Ad Nauseam, no exaggeration. Practically every Naus is the same; you're getting the game-winning spells in your hand. Incredibly consistent and far less mentally taxing than K'rrik. Could say it's boring, but something that can always run at 60mph > something that can hit 100mph for 3 seconds but sputters at 25 most of the time.
