Absolutely, my friend had a hard decision, either hit a van full frontal or put it down and slide under it. He chose the slide and grated a half inch of his right hip, even with long leg jeans and boots, after that he would only ride in full leathers!!
I remember people giving Tony Hawk shit about wearing all that gear. Turns out he can still ride while a lot of dudes are now busted up. Prevention is a good thing.
You’re unusually lucky if you don’t ever have an accident on a bike. Every single person I know whose had a bike, including my dad - had “minor” accidents - but because they were on a bike it was major. My dad lost his entire left arm and has permanent nerve damage throughout the entire left side of his body, my friend skidded out and broke multiple bones and fucked his spine and has permanent excruciating nerve damage in his entire body (and is now overweight and has a cane as a young man). The LEAST any biker can do is to wear protective gear.
@NBT Clothing hey yo solid style like your fit there but you still should be wearing gloves or you could easily loose a finger in a slide also wear motorcycle ce approved boots or atleast boots in general anything that covers your ankle is a Necessity
This reminds me of a story I once read on the internet. This girl was in the backseat while her dad was driving, a motorcyclist going very fast sped passed them that it made the dad say “ dead idiot “ A couple minutes later her dad says “ girls close your eyes “ well the girl telling this story didn’t close her eyes and looked. The motorcyclist they saw a couple minutes ago was splattered all over the road literally . The scene was too gruesome. This is why you need slow down because you never know when is yoir last moment on earth.
When you realise you’re riding on top of the longest piece of max grit sandpaper in the world, on two wheels, at speed, it’s protective gear every time.
@@MrGabriel12gpeople here don’t give a shit either. It’s mostly due to police not being occupied with fighting cartels, that they actually pay attention if a biker isnt wearing gear according to law.
Unfortunately that is how most folks learn. Get that road rash tattoo and you will see the light. Keep that rubbber on the road fellow rider and watch those caged drivers.
I was unfortunate, my foot peg was dragging as I was going around a turn. Grabbed a hole in the ground where a reflector use to me. Pushed me into a wall. Coulda been worse. I was lucky
This only makes sense when you’re in Florida and it’s 100° outside and 90% humidity and sweat is stinging in your eyes and you show up wherever you’re going fully drenched, it’s only at this moment we fully understand
Every time im on the road or outside and I see someone on a motorcycle without gear, I can't stop myself from physically cringing. Why would anyone wear flip-flops and basketball shorts on a bike without a helmet. You can never be too safe
@@Asimo44he says he uses gear. Gear will still not save you from breaking bones or getting injured but is a safety to use to avoid the one that can be avoided.
@Austin Logan proper motorcycle gear is designed to protect your elbows shoulders spine head knees hips heels toes palms and knuckles when wearing all proper gear you can save alot of bones most at risk bones would be your ribs shins feemers hardest bones In your body btw and certain bones in your arms now you can save your ribs by wearing a motorcycle airbag and your internal organs but the thing is about the bones I mentioned is unless it's a feemer break it's more then likely not gonna be deadly and even with feemer breaks they aren't as deadly as they used to be with modern medicine and quick responses from an ambulance point is there's alot you can do to protect yourself incase of an accident
At bike class (mandatory in the U.K.), the instructor bought a cheese grater with him. He said “anyone who doesn’t want to wear gear, imagine rubbing this up and down your legs at 100mph. Total silence as everyone stared at the grater.
That’s a good teacher. Mine told me to rub my hand on the wall then imagine it at 50 mph and said that’s why u wear gear then proceeded to show me his scars from road rash on his legs. The mc teachers in the uk don’t mess about with it they will tell you the truth.
I think in most Countries outside the US of A it's mandatory to take serious classes for cars, motorcycle etc... Or at least in Europe i know we're pretty serious about those things, and the exams aren't a complete joke either, both theory and practical. I'm from Belgium, had motorcycle classes all week but unfortunately ended up in the ER yesterday towards the end of my last riding lesson. I've got two splints and most likely a torn ligament in the knee, but i was wearing full protective gear. It could've been so much worse if i hadn't. On the surface except a few bruises i've got nothing at all. Edit : Got a completely torn anterior cruciate ligament and a fractured wrist 😂 FML ! Wear protection y'all ! If just to spare you the nasty road rashes !
I doubt thin cotton is gonna make that much of a difference. also if you lay it down those shoes are flying off letting your feet grind down to your ankles. "rebel" riding gear might look cooler but won't really do much when you're sliding on the road at 70.
@@PeeFunk2008 it's still beter than t shirt, I crash waring my sweater got a bit scratch on elbow and knee, but broke my chin and some theet lucky enough to tell story
@PeeFunk2008 gear does alot you can put sandpaper machine for like 10 seconds on fiber gear to sand it down leather longer than that just view to road as sand paper good for tires to get optimum grip but bad for you're skin that why we wear shoes on the road to protect our feet from grinding to the bone.
And same is it in this life. The world runs from GOD, but hear this, “I will save you in a acceptable time” just as GOD said in The Scriptures. Now is that time as Paul said.. now is the time of salvation. And again just as the Bible says “put on the Armor of GOD, so that having done everything, you may resist evil” and sin and that which comes to “kill, steal, and destroy.” In JESUS MIGHTY NAME Amen
Ride safe yall, it may not just be you. Its the other cars not paying attention. Ive seen friends hurt and killed. Wear your gear, and make it home safe. Your loved ones will thank you.
This is why I clear this up, when folks say "motorcycles are dangerous" No sir - cars, deer, dogs, armadillos, etc are "dangerous" bikes are "vulnerable". I'm not saying ride around scared BUT always remember - you are surrounded by things that can KILL you on ACCIDENT. That is seriously vulnerable. For real, imagine how low mtc fatalities would be if that all there were on the road. I've been on countries where bikes are the rule, cars are the exception. Riding is a whole different experience.

Luckily i was raised around bikes so know to wear proper gear. I also know that the more your gear looks like clothes, the less protective it will usually be.
that's why I always wear a helmet when taking a shower. it's not if you'll fall in the shower it's when. Everyone will fall in the shower eventually. I also only showed once a week for risk prevention
I too learned the hard way. I had to lay it down to avoid dying, the road rash I received was epic. When I got to the ER, the nurses took those short, black bristled scrubbers and began to scrape out the asphalt imbedded in my leg. It was horrible. From that moment on I never rode bare legged. And in Indiana, we don't have helmet laws. Once you take a June bug to the forehead at 70 mph, you learn the laws of physics the HARD way...
@@brinkipinki I am a good rider. I am very careful, thoughtful, considerate and conscience of others. But that means nothing when others do things to you that you have zero control over. Like when you approach a stoplight and the truck behind you doesn't stop in time, crunching you. Or a bird flies in front of you and hits your headlight, then into your jacket that's halfway unzipped and you can feel it thrashing around inside because it's injured and panicked and you're going 60 mph. Happened to me a few years ago. THAT'S where the gear comes into play. Yes, I have avoided many accidents with skill and the natural agility and unobstructed view that a motorcycle provides. But when you're 100% correct and still get into a wreck, those long pants, gloves, helmet and boots will be the difference between a trip to the ER or the morgue. Happens every single day.
@@brinkipinkiStupid statement. Extremely so. You could be the greatest rider in the world.. Doesn’t stop someone else from ramming into you. Doesn’t stop a deer from ramming into you. Doesn’t stop one single thing outside of your control, or one single lapse in judgment from sending you into a coma or worse.

I used to ride a ninja h2r and I wore the top of the line everything and one day the breaks failed at 120 and I went flying off the bike without a scratch on me point is if I wasn’t wearing any gear I wouldn’t be here

agak lain emang ger masyarakat indo ini, padahal diajarinnya dari nabi makan kurma 3 biji dan/ minum air putih untuk takjil. ini malah pada beli gorengan goblok emang😂
Jesus Christ is returning soon everyone! He died for our sins and was buried and then rose from the dead because He love us so much. Whoever believe in Him as Lord and Savior will be saved. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
unfortunate spill? More like the best thing to happen to you. Because someday it might happen again and be more serious, and guess who is going to be there? Your gear 😁
What, put on a long sleeve shirt and think it's riding gear? Bruvs going to have that thing melted into his skin or torn off before he realises his back skin is stretched 400 meters across the interstate.
I know yall will ride regardless, but I'd still like to tell you the story of my 25 year old cousin who got sideswiped by a truck who blew a red light, landed in a ditch, lost his entire left arm and a year later still cant use his left leg. He was wearing full gear, didn't matter. It doesn't matter how safe you try to be when you're on a motorcycle when careless drivers can ruin your life in an instant. So please, for your mothers or significant others, just drive a car.
"Here bro, record me driving without gear so I can show them later what happened driving without gear. Let's just hope while in filming it doesn't happen again comprendo?"
Motorcycles can teach you a lot about life but its best for someone else to teach you from there mistakes on them. hurts lot less. father still has gravel in his leg from when he crashed 40 years ago. when I wanted to ride, he went out and bought one also and showed me how to ride and went riding with me for awhile to he new I was going to be safe on the road. thanks dad.
I’ll be honest there’s too many wild crazy riders on RU-vid showcasing all their bad habits and dangerous stunts without gear, so I appreciate this, after losing a few friends to motorcycle crashes I still never decided to ride. Ride safe and remember life ain’t worth one good ride of adrenaline.
I will never stop riding but you are right about the adrenaline part. I used to love seeing how fast I could take mountain curves. One low side and a bunch of nasty road rash changed my outlook. I still love the curves but am a lot more cautious. It could have been so much worse.
no matter what wear africking helmet as a kid i see so many people cycling or skateboarding or scootering without helmets or driving without seatbelts saying its manly. It isnt, not having your brains splattered everywhere is more cool. I always wear a helmet. That thing saved me from getting my brains splattered when i got into a car accident while biking. I was able to get off fine because i wore a helmet
NBT sells armored flannel jackets specially for riding. They also have armored hoodies and all with the same stuff as the riding jackets. Not sure about the sneakers tho.
My brother rode very recklessly. Personally I hate bikes now but I'll never tell people not to ride, what I will tell them is to ride safe and use common sense. Rest In Peace Big Bro 💔 8/29/2001 - 4/29/2022
