CODE CHANGED MARCH 2024 - Hi all. If you are interested in any Mudhugger gear the code Streetpigeon10 will get you a 10% discount on one order. I do not make money from this discount - it is not an affiliate link. I am supported by Mudhugger who help make it possible for me to produce all my vids. And in case you think i'm biased - I used Mudhugger products way before I had any links with them 👍
@@streetpigeonmtb to be honest, it’s only going to get used for the next 2/3 months. Went to Dalby Forest today and got sooooooo muddy at the back. Thanks again for the review.
Excellent post, would've put this on a retro build but then realised it's disc only. I have subscribed as it looks like a cracking channel now we're getting back into MTB.
Great video, I never thought about having mudguards before, I think I will buy one for my fork definitely, and I will wait on a rear one as I'm switching frames soon so don't want a compatibility issue.
Deffo try them out. I haven't ridden without a front for years now. In fact, I forgot to take it to Spain this year and it freaked me out seeing the front tyre again 🤣
Mudhugger front large works amazing and looks great on the rear you just need a mtb bendy gaurd at the front to extend it to barings on on emtb forms for pics but its best bet or a neogaurd i know you have to give good reviews being a sponsor but yeh front large on the rear cant go wrong
It wasn't mentioned in the video but as well as being easier to remove before you get to the pub I expect the velcro and rubber inserts will make it kinder to your paint, will save you adding helicopter tape under the zip ties.
Yeah. I didn't mention the helitape either as I have a wrap on the frame already. The guys at Mudhugger still send the helitape with the Mk2 kit 👍I'd agree that it will deffo be less damaging with those rubber inserts.
Hello Sandy, you'll still need to use the helitape, as tiny amounts of grit etc will get under the rubber inserts over time and eat through the frame paint if not protected by the helitape. Not sure the life of the helitape will be extended by the rubber inserts yet either, only time will tell once we hit 9-12 months continuous use.
been looking for something like this to go on a specialize levo carbon they said it cant be done but yes it is done. whats the front fender are you using same company does it come with front and rare? I only want to use this when I ride in the rain and when its wet on the streets. Thanks allot for showing how this works.
Hey mate. Yeah, the same company. They do a front one as well. I made a brief video in it also ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NvIxyXG-Y4o.htmlsi=GvqrbAXLMyeARg9a
Hey mate. It's to do with the angle of your seat stays. The large is for seat stays from 22 degrees to 28 degrees. The medium is for 27 degrees up to 34 degrees. A frame geometry chart should help you 👍
Not sure how it could be clearer: The MEDIUM version is designed for bikes with a seat stay angle from 34 degrees down to 27 degrees. Can be fitted to 'most' mountain bikes with disc brakes, even with external cables and hoses. Length - 690mm. Width - 105mm. BB Extension - 230mm long x 80mm wide Weight - 280g excluding fittings. The LARGE version is designed for bikes with a seat stay angle of below 28 degrees down to 22 degrees. Can be fitted to 'most' mountain bikes with disc brakes, even with external cables and hoses. Length - 775mm. Width - 105mm. BB Extension - 230mm long x 80mm wide Weight - 300g excluding fittings
After 10 months how has it held up? Im do alot of very quick tech but its very muddy and I am looking at a mudguard. I am looking at several and was wondering if this stayed together and if its fits 2.25" tires.
Good to hear. I love tech and I'm tired of coming home with my hoodie and hair covered in mud. Also does the front mudguard stop most of the mud from the bottom of the bike frame? @@streetpigeonmtb
@void.less. hi there. The front mudguard stops the spray hitting your face and protects the fork stanchions. It protects some of the downtube but not the middle to lower parts 👍
Well. It does looks incredibly ugly, but what counts is that it helps eh? (ofc "ugly" is subjective, perhaps a better way to put it is: it looks... unusual 😁) Really well edited video once again! ✌
What they've done there is more or less copied the SKS Mudrocker. I switched to that from the Mk1 Mudhugger because it has the rubber mounts, velcro straps and the front flap AND a clip-on rear extension too. Trouble is it still looks terrible, but there's no denying they work, as I found out earlier riding without it and I have a brown stripe right up my jacket and the back of my helmet 🤣🤦♂️
That might of looked not bad if they stopped like in-line with the end of the saddle but the coo's tounge thing damb hell no look at that wheel slap and shit flicker
@@streetpigeonmtb yes absolutely. Ice been tempted many a time to get one but I can't justify it. It would be like putting a basket on the front to carry my accessories 😁
I’ve ran front mudhugger for yrs now , can’t fault them but rear mudguards are horrific, if staying clean is a riders priority, their needing to find another hobby
I think that's overly harsh. You don't need to run a rear mudguard and you don't need to like them either. However, if someone wants to use a mudguard through winter to save on washing and prolong their bearings then they should absolutely be able to do their hobby in that way. Also, you don't like mud in your eyes? Does that mean you should get a new hobby? I respect your choices mate, I run the same setup as you. I just don't think there is any need to be dismissive of others. At the end of the day, we are all mountain biking.
