Ah yes, another guy who hasn't read the series and follows memes. Sasuke is the best father in the series that sacrificed more for his family than any other dad. He didn't leave to go to the "store" he left to track aliens that can destroy the earth and his movements were kept a top secret so he couldn't visit konoha either. After he comes back to konoha he trained sarada 4 times, more than any other father, despite the other dad's living in konoha. And in boruto ch 80, again sacrificed everything to become a rogue ninja again and chose his daughter over the village and the whole world. Which mf dad in the series chose their kid over the whole world? Even a brainwashing jutsu wasn't able to stop sasuke from choosing his daughter.

that’s why I never liked Naruto’s behavior in terms of relationships. He was busy simping for a girl that didn’t give 2 fucks about him. Back in the academy if Naruto ever went missing (which he did but actually ran away in his backstory) sakura wouldn’t even notice he was missing. HAHAHAHAHA This is implied as far back as chapter 3 where Naruto transformed into Sasuke and tried to kiss her, and Sakura says she's desperate for Sasuke's acknowledgement just like Naruto is. Then Naruto heard this and says I realize why I like sakura. Cause they both compete for sasuke's acknowledgement and she's in love with his rival so he sought to beat Sasuke by winning her over. Even subsequent episodes that follow show Naruto dreaming about beating Sasuke in a fight and gaining sakura's affections. It was always because of a rivalry. You just didn't pay attention

I think Kakashi ending up with Shizune would make a lot more sense. Especially since for some reason Kakashi became Hokage. They spent lots of time together offscreen and Tsunade even makes fun of Shizune about how she needs to find a guy or somesuch. Mei can literally end up with anyone. She is just that desperate. So its pretty easy to pair her with someone. Its better to save Mei for someone who lacks many decent possible ships, like Shino. He really doesn't have anything.

I disagree because Sasuke behaved like that when he went batshit crazy after finding out the truth about the Uchiha massacre. Karin herself said that he wasn't being himself. She said his chakra was darker than with the second stage mark and she was terrified of him at that moment. It wasn't that version of Sasuke that she liked, but the normal Sasuke who was cold but not straight up evil.

In Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, as seen in the mailing system in-game, Ao tells a tale of when he saw Mei without her make-up, making suggestions to how horrifying she looked, but breaking off mid-sentence. Also Kirigakure still holds on to their Caste Systems and she is a Mizukage so the Elders on Kiri doesn't allow her to just Marry a Random guy

Also, the former compliments each other. Heck, Naruto fought Neji partly because of Hinata (Yes, the Chunin Exams). Sasuke first Curse Mark fight stopped after Sakura told him to. Early Naruto had WAY MORE potential to make better romance.

Yep. It pretty much just feels as if Naruto is relieved to know one of his friends survived an attempted murder on them. There is absolutely no romantic build on Naruto towards Hinata until "The Last" came out.

Romance is a lot harder to write, so most shonen mangakas just don't bother with it or take a shortcut and get characters together out of nowhere.

I think it has to do with the fact that most mainstream manga are Shonen, and I believe Shonen isn't big on romance. They even have issue with too much death, which is why toriyama basically had to make death lose all meaning in dragon ball.

Number 2, its kinda impossible to not hate Sakura when she despised Naruto just because he didn't have a family and tried to lead him on and lied to his face about loving him. Number 3, Sure Kishimoto may have always planned for Sasuke and Sakura to get together, but they're relationship was poorly developed to say the least. They're relationship is just like Eren and Mikasa's relationship in Attack on Titan. Both Sasuke and Eren never showed any romantic interest in Sakura and Mikasa, but at the end they end up loving them out of nowhere.

Kinda off topic but that last part reminded me of a Fanfiction I read a while back. Can't remember what it was about but one of the plotpoints was that TenTen had developed a hatred For hinata after the war (this was set like a couple years after the end of Naruto). And one of the things she Said while venting her hatred was "that Neji died only so hinata could fuck naruto!"

Every pairing is horrid in this series. I would rather the romance just never existed to begin with than have to see pointless moments pop up that weren't never going to go anywhere because if it had, one crowd would've dropped the series. Had NaruHina be developed, the NaruSaku crowd would've dropped the series and vice versa. This is why moments come and go in the series instead of being bulit upon, because Kishi was shamlessly skirting both crowds to keep them along for the ride

if i remember correctly the byakugan had the ability of focusing on something from extremely far away and tenten is said to have great accuracy, (tho most of the times she's seen basically throwing a ton of kunais in the general direction of the enemy but whatever) so combined they would make for a pretty cool long range fighter, possibly using a bow or something, and then in close combat a combination of gentle fists and short range weapons, in fact something like the thing asuma used would be perfect right? but i guess we'll never really know because neji decided to pursue his ocupation as a pencil holder

They’re the most down to earth couple and natural couple, so it’s a good ship. Their kid has amazing potential for assassinations. The Byakugan has incredible range and Tenten’s accuracy is second to none. Elite close combat is another great skill with the Gentle Fist. Channeling it through melee weapons would be INSANE. In regards to Asuma’s weapon, giving Tenten an arc where she searches for the metal and forges her own weapon makes sense. A chakra chain with Earth Style running through it to cause fissures and shake the enemy violently upon contact would’ve been brilliant

At the end of season 1, I was more interested in how Hinata would have grown thanks to Neji's help and how they tackle their clan. In the filler and a few bits of shippuden it's obvious he really cares about her even if it's just because they're team mates but he also is completely aware of how much she liked Naruto. Shipping in Naruto is weird though because so many characters just never interact so when you see even a few scenes of people like Asuma and Kurenai where theyre a couple and it makes perfect sense they'd be together we still barely see any scenes of them together.

Ino Mind Transfers into Naruto and pretends to have a headache afterwards because he’s stupid. Naruto gets back at her by making a Shadow Clone who transforms into Sasuke post skip. She thinks he’s real and they ask her to pick after pleading their cases. Ino whispers why not both, grabbing their arms forcefully. Naruto truly acknowledges what Hinata did for him while fighting Pain and kisses her on the cheek. He notices how delicate her skin is. Naruto must face the entire Hyuga Clan in a Kumite for Hiashi’s approval. They lose handedly and he has his way with her. Naruto realizes bigger is definitely better (with Jiraiya giving him a thumbs up from heaven). His hookups are getting out of hand, so his male friends use Therapy no Jutsu. Team Guy is a healthy love triangle. They’re all very good people on even better terms with each other. Neji might worry about Hiashi disapproving of Tenten since she doesn’t come from a prestigious bloodline. Tenten could hook up with Lee since Neji is too busy after his promotion to Jonin. Sakura gives Rock Lee a legitimate chance. Sakura training with Team Guy during the time skip makes so much sense. They’re Taijutsu specialists and Neji was promotied to Jonin, so there’s a spot open. She realizes that Lee actually gives her attention and despite being excitable, is far less problematic than her teammates. Raging teenage hormones take over and they begin sparring in other ways. Sasuke definitely bones Karin. She restores his stamina after training sessions. One day she asks if she can try it on his snake. Sasuke doesn’t care, but soon realizes he made the best decision of his life. They break up after Karin says she wants kids. Shizune asks Kakashi how things have been since she left the village, recognizing him as their best ninja. Tsunade nudges her on since she hasn’t really dated and they can make a powerful kid. Kakashi and Anko have the ultimate friends with benefits potential. They bond over wanting to protect Sasuke from Orochimaru, having a new village leader, and past trauma. This all could’ve taken place during The Sasuke Retrieval Arc.

I agree. I actually thought there was a chance NaruSaku was going to happen due to how close they kept getting. It’s a shame Kishimoto didn’t follow through with it. It would have made way more sense than any other ship in the series besides Shikamaru and Temari.

While it makes more sense than NaruHina and SasuSaku, Naruto and Sakura were only developed as friends. By Shippuden it shows that Sakura cares about him deeply to the point she chose his well-being over Sasuke being back but that doesn’t mean it would have been a good romance.

From an anime perspective, it always seemed like she secretly liked Lee. Tenten was not naturally gifted like Neji. She had to struggle to become a great ninja like Lee. Some scenes appeared to show Tenten admire Lee when he was training.

I don't recall Ten Ten showing attraction to anyone except Sasuke, and Neji more closely resembles Sasuke than Rock Lee does, both in appearance and history/personality.

I strongly disagree about Kakashi x Anko. Kakashi has always been a laid back professional while Anko enjoys being impulsive,thrill seeking and passionate. A better fit for Anko is Naruto. Both carry vast amounts of pain from the hate of the village, both have similar personalities,fun loving,, loud, impulsive and both love being the center of attention. For Kakashi a better fit for him is Yugao. Both are professional ninjas,both are strict and both know what it’s like to lose loved ones.

You see, I never said Sakura's love for Sasuke is superficial throughout the series, what I said was that it was born out of superficial reasons. And yes, everyone that liked him in the academy days did so because he was the hot, popular boy, it's as superficial as it gets. Yet, it's a natural and common thing. No problem there. Your argument doesn't work for Ino, and that's because her feelings for Sasuke never were developed beyond the "he's hot and popular/talented" level. Actually, I believe after the Chunin Exams the next time Ino does anything relating to Sasuke is when she cries when the Konoha 11 find out he became an international criminal upon assaulting the 5 Kage Summit, but by that point she was so out of the loop that the image she had of Sasuke probably still was that of the Chunin Exams. I don't see that Ino running after him afterwards had she been in Sakura's place at the Iron Bridge. I might be wrong though, but at least Ino got over her superficial attraction to Sasuke (if you don't count the fact that her attraction towards Sai, only changed/developed further in a novel, was because he was also hot and also looked like Sasuke. That doesn't mean she still had romantic feelings for him, so it's not a big deal). Of course, Sakura wouldn't "get over" Sasuke like Ino kinda did because they were teammates and went through many things together. And it's precisely because of that that Sakura's feelings for Sasuke had the chance to develop into love proper, not just a crush like in Ino's case. My problem with SasuSaku only really starts after Sasuke tries to kill Sakura in cold blood at the end of the 5 Kage Summit arc. I guess you can romanticize it because it's fiction, and Kishimoto certainly does, but there's no way of arguing around the fact that's not a positive form on love if you keep kissing the feet of the guy who tried to kill you. I won't dive much deeper on this topic here because I already have some comments posted under Dygo's video on whether SasuSaku is a toxic relationship or not. You can go there or ask me for a link or copypaste if you want to open that can of worms. Now regarding Karin, her case is even worse than Sakura's because she didn't have a past with Sasuke (and with the "good Sasuke" you could say, before he left the village) like Sakura did. Although I actually like your comparison between her background and Sasuke's. Yeah, that makes sense, it's a thing they have in common and can bound over, too sad it was never actually developed and each and every time Karin's feelings towards Sasuke are brought up/come into play it's because... He's hot and cool, and bc she liked the feeling of his chakra bc it also had a coolness factor to it. I guess she's the type to get attracted to a persons aura/vibe. So, not to stray from the topic, that argument of her "wanting to fight back against the system" is just you reading into her character. No problem with that as art allows for interpretation beyond the author's intentions, but I just wanted to make that distinction clear. In any case the problem starts when Sasuke also tries to kill her in cold blood. Before that act of betrayal they were still teammates. There's also no way to go around the issue here, no excuse for Karin not ditching Sasuke after that. She's putting up that act of not caring about him anymore (even when she's alone, I think, but correct me if I'm wrong), but as soon as she reencounters Sasuke she immediately goes back to drooling for him. It's humiliating. The fact is that there are very few well written female characters in Naruto, and Karin isn't one of them. She's mostly used for comedic relief anyway for crying out loud. Now I believe the only point left to address is regarding Hinata. "Hinata's love for naruto is more superficial than this considering how she only likes him cause he's stubborn and doesn't give up." Well, she started liking/admiring him because he's stubborn and doesn't give up, yes, and also because she had compassion for him because he was ostracized by the whole village, and admiration because he didn't give up in spite of that. Then, because she herself didn't get the support she need from her family, quite the opposite, she developed an inferiority complex, which made her admire Naruto even more because she identified herself with him. She kinda used those feelings to make herself believe she too could follow his footsteps and "become a better person", as she herself has put it. So her feelings towards Naruto also served to motivate her to change, to also not give up. That's pretty deep if you ask me, and all manga canon, but in good faith I'll assume you just said that because you mistakenly thought I was comparing Hinata's case with Sakura's relationship with Sasuke throughout the series and not just their initial reasons for existing. Oh, and regarding Sakura punching Naruto and all that, besides it being used for comedy, I was just saying they would/could work as a couple because they have a good relationship, "chemistry" you could say, although that word is also a pain to define. Anyway, what I mean is that they have a good back and forth, now that I think about it, even the trope of her punching him for saying or doing something stupid is evidence in favor of their relationship judging by how it's used in other shounen works. But I shouldn't need to point that out, it's pretty clear Kishimoto initially paired them as a potential couple. The story easily could have gone in the direction of Sakura realizing Naruto's value as a person, which she used to despise and mock before also for superficial reasons. Kishi went for that but towards friendship, and the love Sakura actually ends up developing for Naruto plays into the motherly love side of the character. Which is fine, as Naruto actually not ending up with the girl he liked/loved is interesting. As I suggested in the original comment, if both did end up together, that would also be the case, but for Sakura. You could say it's better this way because Naruto is the protagonist, not Sakura, and I'd agree with that, the point is made more meaningful. But I was talking ships, not what was best for the story. I was defending the point of our brothers and sisters of the NaruSaku clan, yet I remain a NaruHina at my core.

This actually would've been a really mature ending. The fact NaruSaku never happened literally reverberates and amplifies all of Kishimoto's worst decisions. Fanfiction have literally written better endings w/ more depth and nuance. Half of it came down to money, another part sexism, because of what Kishimoto thought about Sakura moving on from Sasuke to Naruto, and the last part is not allowing the manga to holistically write itself. Kishimoto inputting forced decisions destroyed any cohesive and meaningful narrative. NaruHina is boring as hell, because Hinata has no legs or real story to stand on. She can't exist w/o Naruto and it shows she never grew independent or found real inner strength and self love. And he literally made Naruto a hypocrite. All the While making him give up on the girl he loved, and never even allowing him to confess. Since it would detract from Hinata. While Sasuke is guilted into a relationship that doesn't fit him and feels unnatural. 😮‍💨

I agree on all levels. Both of those couples were clear as day Kakashi and Anko should’ve been the highlight of The Sasuke Retrieval Arc. They become Tsunade’s top 2 ninja and work together a lot. Naruto matures much faster from their combined guidance and the story isn’t about Team 7’s rift as much Neji and Tenten were the most down to earth couple ever. I can imagine Tenten missing Neji after he became a Jonin. Neji feels insecure about dating her since Hiashi might not approve of someone who isn’t from a prestigious clan

Sure, Shikamaru is a way better friend for Naruto than Sasuke, and theirs is a way healthier friendship, but we're talking about Naruto's perspective. One of the main themes of the story is that of empathy, and Pain explains how (in his mind) you can only truly understand someone if you yourself have experienced the same kind of pain, which to some extent holds up pretty well irl. You can go a long way by just being willing to listen and understand a person's issues and their suffering, but you'll always have a different thing, more than a headstart, if you also went through something similar. If we apply that to Naruto and Sasuke's relationship, we can see already in chapter 3 that Sasuke respected Naruto in a fundamental way (despite mocking him and feeling superior to him because of his immature antics and apparent lack of talent) because he also knew the pain of being alone. In mid-late Shippuden we also get that flashback (I believe it's when their chakra connect at the end of the 5 Kage Summit arc) showing how they had a vague notion of eachother's situation, both noticing that they were different from the other kids at the academy and were able to connect kinda in a unconscious way by just making eye contact. There's also the idea that there's no need for words when you have mutual undestanding with someone. Sure, their situation wasn't the same and that's made explicit by Sasuke at the end of Part 1. It's when they have that mental dialogue at the Iron Bridge that they start to truly understand eachother, but Sasuke was too lost in his own darkness at that point and the Itachi situation was still unresolved. True mutual understanding would only come after their final fight at the Valley of the End. So even though Shikamaru is in general a way better friend, Naruto and Sasuke's connection is much deeper. But it's not like Naruto didn't value Shikamaru or this other comrades, it's just that their friendship was more mundane.

I would like to add that Naruto found Haku more beautiful than Sakura. Why is this relevant? Because this shows Naruto's ideal woman. A woman with light skin and long dark hair is Naruto's type. Hinata fits the bill perfectly.
