Some leather experts (like Rose Anvil) say using oils that expire relatively quickly (i.e. tend to be high in unsaturated fats) is bad for leather and expire/rot in the leather causing damage. Sweet almond oil definitely fits this bill. Should we be concerned? Is there anything you do to prevent this? Thank You!
Very close to my conditioner (just learning) stearic acid (2%) emulsifier also lowers pH to come closer to tanned leather pH. I add a sm % of pure orange oil (softens/nourishes, inhibits any bacterial or microbial growth & smells nice) 1%. I just wanted to make a simple shoe polish & now have about 10 pgs of notes & all kinds of ingredients. There is a great paper written on this subject - google Oliver Rothenberger patent 2012 patent. I learned a ton from this.
