For all the things wrong with the F1 games, the night lighting is actually really good and accurate to real life...not sure what you're talking about. If your complaint is it's too bright, your complaint should be directed at the real life tracks, not the game mimicking them.
I was referring to F1 in general and their night races that are only run at night to give better TV times in Europe. I never said the game got it wrong, just that the night races are often brighter than daylight.
Would have been curious to hear how NFS Shift 2 compared to some of these games. Yes, it's old, yes it's a marriage of arcade with a driving simulator style that isn't for everyone but I do remember how much emphasis the game put on night driving and for the time visually it was quite the experience.
GT7 has to be the best, is the only game that takes account of how your eyes addapt to the darkness, also the "textured" projection on the headlights is something i havent seen in years other than in Hot Pursuit 1
You're wrong about GT7, if you turn the lights in the car off, it looks exactly like the 'Le mans light attack'. Go into the settings & assign headlights to the buttons. You'll soon realize why GT7 can't be matched. Watch 'Le mans light attack' side by side your pov replay.
@@FormulaDigital i stopped watching after gt7 as you said something like there is no perfect night racer or something like that and assumed it was the end. Didnt notice it
@@FormulaDigital I tried to fix those things you mentioned by tinkering with CSP settings and I mostly succeded, even though results can get a bit glitchy.
I was surprised not to see Driveclub honestly, and while it's old, Project Gotham Racing 4 does night driving, as well as snow and other weather really well.
Me too, but I only had fm7 on game pass, when MS removed the game from sale I didn't realise I would lose my access to it. Now it's gone forever unless I buy an Xbox just for that game:(.
20:14 not sure if that sarcasm is a complain to the game or to the actual cars having colored cockpit lights commonly in blue. just so you know, the real life cars have them, and these games are mimicking those found in the actual cars.
You missed the most important one, that’s Forza Motorsports 7. The night lighting is one of the most detailed and headlights hitting pylons/poles actually project an active shadow. I switched from GT7 to FM7 because the night racing is garbage in GT7. Plus the shadows are a pixelated mess that jump in one frame than gone the next. Forza Horizon doesn’t even compare to Forza Motorsports.
*also* , most games even today, have the cameras in broadcast view are 'connected' with an imaginary line to the *center of the car in focus no humanization to the cameras motion on broadcast views makes ie EXTREMELY synthetic and unrealistic
There is no game that renders night lighting accurately for a reason: it's because you'll 100% complain if a game will render night lighting accurately. Mainly because racing at night isn't really spectacular to look at IRL, and secondly, because performance and gameplay practicality will have to be considered in implementing night lighting in games. The best you could have is Dirt Rally and Dirt Rally 2.0. because those are the only rawest racing simulators these past few years; simulators that not only simulates track conditions and cars itself (such as AAC, Automobilista, iRacing, etc) but most of all, *_simulates the driving experience itself_*
