True story... someone told me when I was a film student that they'd met Alan Rickman and gave him a copy of a short film that I'd made. About a month later I got a handwritten letter in the mail from Mr. Rickman telling me that he enjoyed my film. I was blown away that he did that.
@@TheBigMclargehuge When it's from Alan Rickman? I would say so, yeah. But I understand where your coming from. People hold so many things over there own doings because it's what an actor likes, which I don't agree with. But some of us have actors we look up to, or like! (Alan Rickman in my case) So you get the point lmao.
@@TheBigMclargehuge apparently you must feel that, based on your willingness to write a comment, that your opinion is worth a shit. My point was not that Mr. Rickman's opinion was particularly relevant... but rather to highlight the gesture he made of writing words of encouragement to someone he'd never met. It was quite altruistic and telling of what kind of person he was. If you want to shit on that, then be my guest.
Hmm - really? I could make this happen. So long as the accent is appropriate, the question of the sonorific engagement is a simple one to adjust. Would either you Alivia or Stacy be prepared to help?
I always wished we could have seen him play Sherlock Holmes. Think of it - sharp profile, penetrating gaze, commanding-yet-understated voice, disdainful, superior attitude - what else could you ask for from any Holmes?
If there ever was an actor recognizable by voice it was he. That creaking, deep tone which spoke every word with amazing clarity and nuance. He spoke poetry.
@@windwoman3549 His voice is quite plain. It is Walken's peculiar tempo that makes his speaking so recognizable. He speaks English like foreign language.
I adore that you can really sense that his parting words of good luck in this aren't sardonic or disdainful but truly well-meaning and valiant. An actor, a noble and truly a massive loss.
Okay, actually almost got teary eyed after hearing the one man say that Rickman was the only actor who ever wanted to be his friend. You just sometimes assume the worst because so many people seem to think they're better than others once 'they've made it', but that is so sweet.
We'll not see his equal again, I assure you. Alan was brilliant in every role he portrayed, and made that character unforgettable. A genuinely beautiful soul.
@@harleen4649 you can still have a crush on someone whos dead. Just like how Snape still loves/has a crush on Lilly. She's dead but he still has a crush on her. (This only counts for when snape was alive tho)
I miss him truly, madly, deeply. What a wonderful voice he had. Such a great loss to the acting community, and to all his admirers, like myself. RIP Alan. 🇬🇧🙋💙💙
You can always tell an actor who evolved off the stage and masterful work versus a movie star who evolved off of photographs and casting couches. Rickman was a legend, lost before he was ever truly recognized as having begun. He touched many lives.
He’s not an aggressive guy,. He’s calm and enjoying what he does. He very reserved, but he’s so amazingly ENglish. We see things and humor in a very different way. Truly Miss this guy. And yes, the Sheriff of Nottingham as so funny... ! Really miss him! Bless you!
He was born for the craft. Wow, look how young! And his baritone voice really made him stand out. Brilliant actor...with comedy, being devilish, drama, whatever his role, he owned it.
In a film about Robin Hood it's a given you're meant to be cheering on Robin Hood as the hero; Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves is the only film about same where I ended up wanting to cheer on the Sheriff of Nottingham but not because of that character being a good person/hero but because Alan Rickman was playing him with some wonderful dark humour in his performance which outshone Kevin Kostner (playing the main character) by miles. RIP Alan Rickman
Alan's so good at chewing the scenery. He could take any role & make it his. I adore everything about him. He's the perfect man. He put everything into the work. No matter what he did, it was a thing of beauty. I hope he's in heaven thanking God for his talents bc he had lots of them. I pray that he's at peace. He will be missed.
Today, 5 years ago, the world became poorer, lonelier, darker ... because we lost a wonderful shining star. I still love and miss him, just as much as I've done every day since January 14th, 2016 ... and tears are already running ... 💔 After all this time ... Always💔
The fact that I'm brawling my eyes out for a man I haven't even met in real life and just is a big fan of his work is how much of a great actor and influencer he was... We will miss you Mister Alan Rickman
"What are you?" "I'm PISSED OFF THAT'S WHAT I AM." When I heard that I practically shit out my lung it was so hilarious I legit never expected to hear that coming out of his mouth EVER in my life😂 (Now let me remind you, people, that this man played so many serious characters like Severus Snape but to hear THAT from him, it makes me love him even more😭)
@@DameAlys Barchester Chronicles is easily found on You Tube. Rickman's character doesn't appear until the 3rd (I think) episode, but is a key character thereafter. Enjoy!
Humble, funny, poignant, caustic, a darling, a voice like black velvet, deep , the most excellent of characters, what to say? RiP Alan Rickman, we would have loved to see more formidable films you could have made... miss your all forever.
It was always so easy to fall in love with his characters. He was easily recognized in each of them and yet none of them were the same. There are some I could name who always play themselves regardless of the role. It was fun the first time or two but soon becomes impossibly stale.
Did you read too? Dont worry, cos you haven't read the books that doesn't mean you are bit a true fan, I haven't even read any books yet but I do own a book (Harry Potter and the philosopher stone)
Glad we have a perfect venue like RU-vid to display the righteous & fantastic works of a true genius thespian like Alan Rickman. Future generations can experience the gloriousness of the melodious Alan Rickman! Also Alan Rickman needed to play a vampire soooo badly!
I didn't watch any Harry Potter movies but I know Alan was a major character. Seeing his contributions to theater I add he was the wizard/sorcerer of film acting. He had us under his spell
At the Barbican Theatre gift shop in London, many years ago, i heard That Voice behind me, politely saying “ ‘Scuse me please” as he gently patted my shoulder. It was really crowded-“a frightful crush,” and he sauntered to the cashier. My friends were whispering What’s he buying ? I peered over and saw he was buying a handful of postcards-featuring himself! So i always thought he must be conceited ….only later I discovered that he was a genuine gentleman. Friends told me to never wash the jacket where he patted my shoulder.
I always adored Alan Rickman. He was one of the most accomplished British actors ever in my opinion. Underrated though and I believe, even by himself. Such a loss.
Although this is an excellent piece on Alan Rickman, I am very disappointed that nothing from the movie "Something the Lord made" was not included. It is an outstanding movie and deserved recognition.
Rickman turned a receding jaw, huge nose, small eyes, and a childhood speech impediment into a career, with thr help of a stylist and voice coach. He lived with, then finally married a laid back 70s gal. Maybe he didn't cheat on Rima, but got to "experience" lots of other women while making himself a multimillioaire. Alan, you dog! He was a good actor, and wonder what other great roles he could have done. ❤️
he killed that scene in Love Actually where he tells his employee played by Laura Linney to get together with this co worker she's been in love with for years (and the whole office knows) and tell the guy she wants to have lots of babies with him 😂😂😂 his gift for comedy is exquisite and I do not believe there is a person alive who could deliver that better than he did 😂😂 i have seen that scene many times and it never loses its charm due to him
I fell love with Alan Rickman in 1990. I've loved everything I've seen him in since. He was astounding in 'Prince of Thieves', the best thing in the film, wiped the floor probably unintentionally with Costner.
I believe I hated Alan in the Die Hard Movie. He was so evil. Then I watched Truly, Madly, Deeply and fell head over heals in love with him. His acting skills were gentle, strong, velvet, and personable. He was a truly great actor and I love him still.
