Surviving the Game recently came out from Shout Factory 🏭. I picked it up. Classic flick...Ice-t action. Gleaming the Cube upgrade would be amazing. My DVD is plain and boring 😴. Need special edition goodness.
Kimberly Beck from the final chapter is in Massacre At Central High and she's full frontal in it. I saw it on VHS for the first time in 2000 need that Blu Ray
TOTALLY agree with massacre at central high....i was in AWE when i saw the picture quality on that release and on top of it, its an awesome movie, clinically underrated! great list man!
I love their 4k transfer and slip of Susperia, which is amazingly beautiful (its $35 right now at Amazon, but I don't know if you still get the awesome), and yiu have to get it CHH. Their Blu-ray of Curtains is great, and I can't remember what my third movie from Synapse that I own is. I'm getting Bidenmentia 😂😂😂😂 ... I think Synapse should do that weird classic slasher/telekinesis film with Chuck Conners from 1980, I believe: Tourist Trap. I'm doing what CHH does great and put a movie with boutique label.....
Synapse should definitely re-release suspira and give it the boutique Limited edition big box treatment like they did for tenebre & Phenomena. I wasn't feeling what they did for a big movie like suspira when they released it on 4k compared to the blu-ray. I think all of argento's films all the way up to Opera should get the limited big box treatment that haven't yet. Same for inferno but I can't remember if that's a synapse or another company released the blu-ray. I don't have many synapse movies just suspira, tenebre, phenomena & the recent demons 1 & 2 release. I may get the kinderd now since keep hearing about it.
Love Tenebrae. For a while I've considered it my favorite Dario Argento giallo movie, but the more I watch it...the less I believe that. I still love it, but BETTER then phenomena? Better then Four flies on Grey velvet? Not even close. One of the reasons is the fact it's Dario doing a "modern" take on the giallo in terms of the look and lighting. I prefer that gritty dark 70's lighting and overall 70's aesthetic. I watched Tenebrae in October as usual, and while I still had a blast watching it, absolutely loved the directing...still wasn't as fetishistic as his other films. I'll always say Deep red is overrated, because it is, but I greatly missed the fetishistic camera shots - like in Deep red, as I watched Tenebrae. Love Demons, although I still wish those 80's punks would of played more of a role in the film. Can't overlook Demons 2 being a total remake of the original film with the same cast of characters. I can forgive Return of the living dead 2 for that, but not Demons 2. Never seen Massacre at central high, but it's on my watch list for next year. Can't wait! I love Heathers. I love Class of 1984. I love slasher movies and Massacre at central high looks like a mix of all of that. So I can't wait. I watched Silent night deadly night 5 three nights ago. I had seen it before back in like 2012. Some of the directing and stuff was pretty damn good. The special effects were pretty damn good too. The end when he takes the face off, etc. Really really good effect. Still, while I enjoyed it, a fairly decent popcorn flick. Also gave Black Christmas the 2006 remake another rewatch. Hadn't seen that since like 2015. Again, nothing special. No where near as good as the original, but not bad either. LOVE LOVE Suspiria. Like the overwhelming majority of giallo/Italian horror fans Suspiria was my entry into the genre and Dario Argento. "it's dubbed" Well, sadly, but also fortunately, I guess? For the masses anyway, that is gonna be a thing of the past because AI is going to make the lips match. That still aint gonna fix TERRIBLE, AWFUL audio dubs, but it will fix the lips at least. "'Dude, it's dubbed.' Ya, well get over it." Exactly, and in some sense and I aint the only fan who feels this way. An Italian horror fan talked about this in In search of darkness part 2 "Those are the rough edges that I love, because it's not completely polished" So there is kind of a charm when it comes to the dubbing. So in a way, it's like "AI lip matching for dubbed films? Great for the masses...but for me as a long time Italian cinema fan it kind of takes away the edges." Love Satan's little helper. The 3 films I watch every Devil's night; October 30th are The crow, Satan's little helper, and Halloween 3: Season of the witch. Last year it was The crow and Halloween 3. This year it was Satan's little helper and Halloween 3. I always bust up laughing to the point of being in pain [like this year] during the shopping scene. The employees fill his shopping cart with the grocery bags and Satan just nonchalantly walks off and the little boy Dougie is like "...but we didn't pay....HAHAHAHA!" and it gets even funnier. "Don't you know anything? Satan doesn't have to pay." Hilarious. Always makes me laugh, my favorite scene. The second bust out laughing scene in the film is the "Satan will come and cut your guts out!" "I didn't mean it!" death of the father. Frankenhooker. Ya, great film. Only film of his I actually watch and like. I've seen Basket case and Brain damage. I didn't like either of them. Love Popcorn. When ever i watch a really bad pure style over substance movie I always reference Popcorn; quoting the professor who talks about Yates "they'd drop acid and make these weird avant-garde movies of them selves looking into the camera, picking their noses. Stuff like that." I say that as someone who is a fan of those types of movies! I love avant-garde experimental, very stylish movies, but then there are movies that are NOTHING BUT that which to me is just egotism, narcissism, and arrogance. The director basically self indulging and going "I'm a film maker! LOOK AT ME." thinking it's "high art" when it isn't. Sergio Martino, a brilliant film maker and one of my all time favorite directors, he literally compared his movies to SODA. He isn't full of him self swinging the camera around and going "I'm SO BRILLIANT!" Love Intruder and Curtains. The fact that Curtains has two directors i think actually works for the film. Towards the end of the film you can definitely notice the change in directors but instead of making it uneven it totally works. Never liked Street trash. The chicken store scene is the only scene in the entire film that I actually really like. Every other scene in the film, the plot, the characters, etc I am totally uninterested in. I love Prom night. Unfortunately the last time I watched it I couldn't help but think of Jamie Lee Curtis in the film and her downfall in the Green franchise. I kept thinking "What a has-been. WHY CURTIS, WHY?! I LOVED YOU!" "YOUR TEARING ME APART LIS- JAMIE LEE!" Thank god that abomination of a trilogy is finally over with and I never have to look at Jamie Lee Curtis like that again. I can watch her films now and enjoy them again and ya. Part 2 is really good. Love part 2. I gave Stepfather 2 a watch this year...and damn was it BAD. First off, it LOOKED BAD. You could tell it was super low budget and straight to video. It had this made for TV look and I found it to be incredibly boring in terms of a sequel. The first film is great. Really really good, but I did not like the sequel. Have not seen Black roses. But I did give Trick or treat a watch. I also gave Hack o lantern a watch. Trick or treat was a let down. Hack o lantern was a blast and I thought I was gonna hate it. I prefer the metal soundtrack in Hack o lantern. Merry Xmas. I am gonna be watching Christmas evil tonight. Unfortunately my Xmas this year is all screwed up. My family I celebrate in person with are all sick and I don't want to get sick. Was going to send chocolate to family I don't celebrate in person, but they are all off here and there in other states. So basically the chocolate xmas gift won't be open till after Christmas and of course no short facetime this year. I really been meaning to call my grandmother and aunt, but my sleeping hasn't been convenient enough. I'm very much a "I hate to bother you." type of person.
I love your choices. A lot I haven't seen. I'm very happy that you pointed out the ridiculous prices. Thirty to forty bucks for a Blu-ray 📀. Yeah I'll either pass or wait for a price drop.
