A friend wants me to make of these for her. I've never used cardamom before. Since I probably won't be tasting it, how did it taste to you with that spice in it? I've always used cloves but I want to take a chance with this recipe.
I used cardamom before in Indian dessert recipes but in this one the taste was not strong at all and you won't notice it that much. Since the creams is with vanilla and the cinnamon in the cake is much more than the cardamom. I think you'll like the overall taste though.

You're recipe is most like what I made in the 1970's, I was a young girl. Still living at home with my parents and siblings, carrot cake was something I made often. With lots of thick cream cheese frosting.

Made it this weekend. Didn't have cardamon and used tow 9-inch pans. Was absolutely delicious - fluffy and light, not too sweet - perfect. Everyone loved it! (my obviously didn't look as pretty:))

You're videos are always great! I just wanna ask you one thing; when you are baking cakes , have you ever tried using cake strips around the baking pan? It is like magic, always flat tops and you won't get that darker slightly hard crust on the side that has been closest to the pan. It will remain soft and moist all around.

I made ot today but sadly the grams are not correct. My batter was very runny and the cake was fragile but very tasty. So next time I will decrease some sugar, increase the flour and all should be well. Re the cream frosting, if I had used 500 g of butter and as much mascarpone, it would have been a huge amount of frosting. I used 200 g of butter and it worked out well. What I produced reminded me Nando's carrot cake, only better! Thank you for the recipe.
Hi Maria! I'm so sorry the cake didn't work out well for you. I just doubled checked the gram measurements and they are the correct conversions. Perhaps there was something you added or maybe didn't add enough flour? Hope you were still able to enjoy it! :)
Thank you! I don;t really do anything special to it - just use a deep conditioner on the ends to keep them healthy. I also don't use heat tools, only for work.

Hi Mina! I'm sorry the recipe isn't working out for you. Have you tried baking it for longer? Also, make sure to use fresh baking powder. It goes bad quickly and can cause the batter to stay flat and thick.

Hi! :) Thanks! No, you don't really taste it but if you really don't like pineapple, you can use other fruit. It does add a lot of moisture to the cake though so i would replace it with applesauce.
Hi! I bake a lot and have asked this question in the past - there's nothing thats quite like cardamom but the closest thing would be allspice. Did you check Amazon? I was able to get real cardamom pods from them that i grind in a pestle and mortar, but your local grocery store might have it already in powder form. It's worth ordering it online if you can't find it locally. It's a staple in certain desserts like baklava and some versions of pumpkin pie. I hope this helps!

You can make your own buttermilk, too. Just measure out the same amount of milk and add 1 tablespoon table vinegar or apple cider vinegar, stir and let it stand for 5 minutes. Home-made buttermilk :)
Hi! I'm so sorry to hear that! Try placing the cream cheese frosting into the refrigerator for a few hours. It's runny because the cheese is too soft/warm. I like to make mine the night before, refrigerate it overnight and then take it out of the fridge a few hours before using it.
Just let me say first that you are the cleanest looking woman I've ever seen. My question is, what did you do with the cake you cut off the top? I was hoping you'd crumble it up and sprinkle it on the finished cake, but I didn't see that. I'm sure that I'd do that instead of throwing it away.
