KUMPIR TURKISH FOOD
Kumpir is a Turkish fast food specialty. It is widely distributed in the Balkans (in Turkish: kumpir; in Serbian: krompir; in Croatian: krumpir; in Macedonian: kompir).
This dish consists of a rather large potato, wrapped in aluminum foil and baked, then stuffed with various ingredients.
The potato is cut in half and its flesh is mixed with butter and cheese (Kasseri cheese, originally made from sheep's milk, but mozzarella is also used). Various ingredients are also added: carrots, corn, olives, peas, mushrooms, pickles, tzatzíki, red cabbage, as well as mayonnaise, ketchup and hot pepper sauce.
