In this video I breakdown QB THROWING MECHANICS I hope you enjoy! HOW TO READ DEFENSES ⬇️⬇️ www.firstdowntraining.com/exa... WE ARE TRAVELING TO 4 MORE STATES FOR QB/WR CAMPS! ⬇️⬇️⬇️ www.firstdowntraining.com/boo...
hey Coach. I've been involved in coaching football for more than 35 yrs concentrating on QB for the last 13. I've attended numerous training clinics and seminars with guys recognized as the best in the field. Your videos are absolutely the best I've come across. Your techniques, demonstrations, and advice are spot on and depict the SCIENCE of rotational sports training. Thank you.
I'm from Barcelona, Spain, and I'm very interested in a QB mechanics, and I think this videos are the best I found in the whole internet. Thanks a lot!
Its me again pushing for Massachusetts football @firstdowntraining. The difference between coach grant and other places ive been is the complete breakdown and understanding he provides to where the players aka student athletes "get it". again coach Massachusetts.
Coach remember when a couple of days ago u said that your making a vid on qb competition is this it. Also Tysm for always responding on time your the only RU-vidr I know that will respond I appreciate it 🏈🏈🏈
Of course bro, I’ll always respond. Unless it’s some idiot talking crap 😂 but the QB competition post will be a YT short and it will be posted at 4pm PST today
@@firstdowntraining Yep, my 9 year old took my phone and put up this initial comment. He wants to now play QB, which he seems to have “mastered” WR and RB from his natural abilities. I tell him QB is more mental than physical. I’m glad he’s watching you.
Thanks Coach Grant! Is there ever a situation where the plan should be to hitch on a three step drop? I think things could change and have to hitch up but seems you should always throw when that back foot plants.
Yeah absolutely- digs, comebacks etc. when they are the first read. The hitch would just need to shift your weight back and get you to the same base we mentioned in the first part of this video
I’m 12 and just starting JV/Varsity football. I’m on the shorter side so it’s much harder for me to throw it farther with using my legs. I just wanted to ask you is there any tips you can give me to throw a good distance while throwing a good spiral?
Many QBs throw from the backswing with the top of the ball pointing directly backwards, is this correct? Isn't the shoulder joint extraversion too large, putting more stress on the shoulder? I also think that a large backswing is a target for forced fumbles because it takes more time to throw and moves the ball away from the body.
It’s not correct to lift the ball straight to 90 degrees if that’s what you are asking. It has to do with the timing of your foot strike and hip rotation in your kinetic sequence- so while in theory it seems like it would be quicker- the ball will actually be less efficient, accurate and lose velocity due to the kinetic Chain. It’s hard to explain without showing you- so if you search up “first down training perfect throwing motion” we have a video there explaining this exact topic. Thank you for the question
I hope this guy makes a good amount of money because he would be such an amazing coach for so many QBs and more! Love copying your methods for my U16s, thanks for making me look good 😂
@@firstdowntraining no worries man, I appreciate you giving everyone a wealth of knowledge in a digestible way. Honestly really hard not to copy you verbatim because of how well you communicate the how and why. Kids love a ton of the drills too so I can’t say thank you enough
If you search up “first down training how QBs can stop missing high” we have a few videos/drills there that you can do!. Will explain it much better than I can via text. I appreciate you watching the videos man
hey coach, im currently a junior, i turn 17 in 5 days and im trying to get into football as a quarterback, everyone constantly doubts me and tells me it wont happen, but the truth is, when im slinging that ball around, i feel the most comfortable that ive ever felt anywhere, and i feel like with hardwork, football is in my future. do you think if i work hard enough, i can go juco as a qb and work my way up to d1 ball?
Yeah absolutely man, it’s all about what you do with your opportunities and being consistent with your work ethic. The unfortunate thing is that thousands of people have the exact same goal as you- but not a lot of people are willing to do what it takes. So if you stay consistent and keep grinding, you will see a lot of results
Honestly man it just comes down to your work ethic, doing your job and being consistent. You need to show up everyday and consistently outwork your competition. If you’re not consistent it will be hard to stand out
If you search up “first down training how to stop throwing sidearm” we have a few videos there that can help you a ton! Thank you for watching this video and the feedback
Hey coach, Im 13 years old in 7th grade I'm getting my hip and shoulder dissociation but I'm leaning to my left sometimes I can't throw a good spiral and my distance feels so weak
Hello. My son is a 11 year old quarterback. We love your videos and have signed up for your March 2024 Dallas stop. It's a surprise Christmas gift. Do you give feedback on videos sent to you? Wanted to send you a video with possible feedback on his mechanics.
Closest spot will be in Miami Florida! Here is the info below www.firstdowntraining.com/service-page/miami-florida-qb-wr-camp?referral=service_list_widget
Same principles apply. For the 6yr old I would avoid throwing past 10yds- even with my 9yr old kids I don’t throw deep. It’s only going to develop bad habits
Hey Coach, im from Germany and I got a Problem with the angle of my wrist. When I am holding the Ball my wrist is „angled“ to the outside rather then being an extension of my arm. Do you have an idea How I can fix this? Its very difficult for me to not angle my wrist. Thanks!
Yessir if you checkout one of our most recent RU-vid shorts titled “how to adjust to a bigger football” we have a drill there that can help with your grip
If you are wanting to play QB I think the most important aspects of your game to focus on would be arm strength, accuracy, mobility and reading defenses!.
Hey coach. So I have good sized hands, about 9 and a half inches, and im 14. I can whip around a youth ball so hard and so fast, but when i try throwing a high school sized ball which im going to be using next season, its getting zero power and just feels very wrong. Its like 2 different people throwing. Is there anything I can do to get used to it faster?
Work on your grip strength. Hand size does not matter if you have a weak grip because the ball ultimately gets heavier. So I recommend doing anything for your grip like finger tip push ups, farmers carry(look this one up) or even pull ups/hanging from a pull up bar. Anything to get your hands stronger. If you search up “first down training grip strength” we have some videos there- mainly for WRs but can also apply to QBs
@@firstdowntraining I already do those on the regular and have a strong grip strength, I feel myself doing something different in the motion that i can’t figure out it’s really weird
How do I practice throwing without someone that can catch because I don’t have anyone available and think it’s crazy to throw and run after the ball to pick it up every time I do a practice throw
I don’t really want to be a qb I want to be a receiver but whenever I throw around the football with my brother my throws are horrible and I can never get the spiral right.
Honestly your hand doesn’t really change the “shoulder to hand” method is to keep your shoulders parallel to the target. A lot of guys “eat the sandwich” but their front shoulder still rotated way open. So you want to eat the sandwich still but this is just to keep your upper body “square”
I really love you videos but would love it if I felt included in the conversation like you were talking to girls and women as well as the “fellas”. Great content for me as a training qb for a women’s contact flag football team.
