The ASICS Gel Nimbus 25 has been an absolute dream to run in lately and I couldn't help thinking about how much I would have loved this shoe when I was a heavier runner. The FFBlast+ foam + the comfort of the upper and the accommodating nature of the upper makes this shoe such a massive upgrade over the 24! Sit back, relax and lets talk about the nimbus 25.

I weigh 225 and this shoe is amazing for me to run in. Cushioned enough that my legs still feel great after a run and firm enough that it doesn’t bottom out with each landing. Looking forward to more runs in this shoe…btw i have 2 pairs now lol

I’m 220 and I’ve found that the best running shoes for runners in most reviews is being done by people that weigh anywhere from 130lbs to 170lbs 90% of the time and they all speak highly of shoes that can’t handle a larger person. We quite literally will just collapse the foam, but everyone else talks about how it feels like walking on pillows…. And it does inside the shoe store at first, but when you actually start running in them you have none of the support you need and my back and legs would start hurting chronically until I switched to a less recommended shoe due to having stiffer foam. Which turns out to be perfect for heavier people…. It’s just like with vehicle and the suspension that provides a nice comfortable ride for a Honda Civic won’t work for a Cadillac Escalade that’s many times bigger and heavier. It will just bottom out the suspension and ride like hell because the SUV is much heavier…. So it just makes sense that heavier people can’t get the same results out of the same foam smaller people can. We larger people need a more robust heavy duty foam to run on. The shoes you got are on my short list of shoes I enjoyed running in. If you like the Gel Nimbus might I also recommend trying out the brooks glycerin 20(specifically the 20). I’ve fallen in love with it. And I’d considered a direct competitor to the gel Nimbus, kind of like BMW vs Mercedes. It will all boils down to minor differences in preference but you can’t go wrong with either the ASIC Gel nimbus or the Brooks glycerin 20. Brooks knocked it out of the park with the 20. Definitely worth trying on and moving around in next time you replace your running shoes.

@@Dara-ih6jq I did have my eye on the Glycerin as well when I was looking for another shoe to rotate with the Nimbus 25. Ended up catching the Novablast 3 on sale at the time and I really love it as it gives a good bit of energy return in each step while still being very comfortable. I've still got my eye on Brooks though with that Ghost Max coming next month I believe.

I’m 56kg (123 pounds/super light but I am 14 so it’s normal) and this shoe doesn’t feel super soft, the NB 1080v13 is way softer but this shoe feels SUPER bouncy for me even tho soooo many reviewers say this shoe lacks energy return but for me, maybe because I’m very light, this shoe feels amazing, not too soft but soft enough for basically 0 ground feel and 100% protection and it’s very bouncy

I was 320lbs a year ago and I got the Brooks Adrenaline 22 from 2022 and using those shoes I got down to 190 and they are still holding up great after doing 2 to 5 miles of walking daily. As a heavier person definitely don’t want those super soft squishy shoes that everyone talks about because those people worry about 130 pounds and people ourselves we’ll just completely collapse the foam. So you want something with a bit more support it is not so squishy….. think of it kind of like suspension for vehicles what would give a Honda Civic a nice comfortable ride would completely bottom out if you use that same suspension on a truck. Do you need a much more busy and rigid suspension to get that same quality of right out of a much heavier vehicle. So keep that in mind. a pillow on your foot inside the shoe store won’t necessarily give you the support you need when walking and running and could lead to back pain and leg pain because you like the support to keep your walking/running stride in good form. Brooks are rly good for heavier people in the 250+lbs. because a lot of these running shoes are literally made for typical runners who don’t weigh more than 170 pounds most of them are closer to 130 so what is a great she will not be a great year for someone who quite literally more than twice as heavy. I highly suggest Brooks Adrenaline 23. Each year they come out with a new model, but the 23 is the one through 2023 and it’s supposed to have some pretty good improvements over the 22 that I have. But since I’m starting to run now and not walk, I’m looking at the brooks glycerin because those have a bit more foam for high impact but I would be giving up the stability you get with the adrenaline, which is really important for people just getting into exercising. because the most important thing when you first start out is that you keep doing it the last thing you need is something causing you pain that makes you had to stop so you’re number one goal should be getting issue that he’s going to support you and keep you feeling good and getting back out there every day. And for that, I would suggest looking at the Brooks adrenaline line. They make a GTS variant of their shoes also that offers even further support.

Even before I lost a lot of weight I did not like shoes with big stack heights in which you kind of sink into the foam. I used to have Hoka Bondi 7 and I so hated that shoe. Nimbus 25 also looks too bulky for me. Puma Deviate Nitro 2 seems like a better balance of controlled cushion and energy return.

@@BrendonCamm(lol I’m late by 9 months, anyway) I wouldn’t recommend the Nike invincible 3 since it has terrible lockdown issues due to the lack of heel cushioning and it’s also extremely unstable and that wouldn’t be good if a basketball player got his ankle rolled the day before a game, it’s still an amazing super soft and bouncy shoe, but you just have to deal with the heel slippage and have super strong Dwane Johnson ankles

PureGel is different gel from the gel in previous generations. According to ASICS it is softer and lighter material. So, Nimbus 25 is a total redesign of the shoe. You are doing good videos. Keep the videos coming. It doesn't have to be shoe reviews always. You can mix it with your running journey/personal experience content, some race prep, scientific research about running. Maybe just a bit more consistently (once a week, once every two weeks) will help.

I’ve had two pairs. First pair I loved. Second (same size and everything) feels different. No hot spots with the first pair second pair the toes feel tighter and I’m getting holes in my socks and calluses at the tips of my toes after 100 miles in the second pair. I’m also noticing I am bottoming out already when I didn’t until after 300 miles on the first pair.

@@BrendonCamm Nimbus is the best shoe in the market for walking, standing for multiple hours, brisk walk and jogging, and treadmill use. Top tier (not the best in class though) for recovery as well. Great all rounder for daily, lifestyle and gym use as well , although a bit on the cushion-y side for some. Cumulus 25 is a good firmer option but not as comfortable. For above 200lbs~ Nimbus still wins though (even for weights) Not recommended for higher speed running, racing and lifestyle/gym use if you are on the lighter side.

If u r heavy....My reco....Know your wear!!!! Know your stride! I expect that heel to move and for the wear to be uneven. U know what that equals? Risking breaking your ankles! Passing on the 25. I have been wearing Asics since I think the 15s. I think the 18s thru 20s they got it right. It has been downhill ever since. I currently have the 21s, 23s, and a 24....It is time for me to try a new brand. I tried the Hokas and the Altras a while back with the high stack height! Dear Heavy Runners and Big People all over the world, High stack height is not for us! Soooo...u should pass on the Asics 25s... Obviously, just my opinion as the video creator has a different experience. So I will say this....take a look at your heel from your previous shoes and that will tell u if the shoe is for u. I think I do the overpronate where instead of my feet rolling inward, i am on the outside meaning rolling off my little toe instead of my big toe. This leads to not only uneven outter sole wear, but also uneven heel wear. U know what the means in the world of high stack height? That means an uneven heel leads to the possibility of u breaking your ankle due to an unstable roll on that heel. So.....to play nice....I will end where I began.. Know your heel. Know your stride. That should tell u if the Asics 25 could possibly be a good fit for you. For me? I will have to go ahead and pass. I just really wish Asics would just make the older model shoes available for sale. Welp.... That's my experience. I'm out. ❤❤

This is a shoe that I will definitely try. I am 286 lbs and looking for a pair of shoes that I could use for long distance walking that will allow me to walk 18-24 kms daily on the Camino de Santiago. I’m currently using ultraboosts and with a lot of effort I can do 17-20 kms. I wonder if there is a shoe out there that can provide a better experience for me. So far I am interested in the Nimbus 25, ASICS Trabuco Max 2, NB Sc Trainer, asics Kayano and Brooks Caldera. If it was you, which one do you think is suitable for someone who has flat feet?
