The beautiful crumbling Farum Azula was once the resting place of the Ancient Dragons. It’s said to be crumbling due to a meteorite that struck it. In the prehistoric era before the age of the Erdtree, the world was ruled by the Ancient Dragons. Above them all was Placidusax, a many-headed Ancient Dragon who ruled as Elden Lord from the royal city of Farum Azula. When Placidusax's god fled, the Dragonlord resolved to await its return, withdrawing to his seat at the heart of the storm beyond time. Farum Azula became a mausoleum enshrining Placidusax, guarded by chosen Beastmen. In his absence, the age of the Erdtree began under the rule of Queen Marika the Eternal, and the descendants of the Ancient Dragons became enfeebled, weak to the primeval lightning wielded by their forebears. Placidusax's Gravel Stone Scales were disseminated throughout the world, used as smithing stones said to allow for the creation of god-slaying weapons by lightly twisting time. for an easy mode all the ywould really have to do is increase rune amounts from enemies killed or really it just speed things upp instead of you having to grind or just [rpgressivly get better, some people dont have time to get better like your surgeon or are to young ot have skill like children or gamers who suffer from some type of mental disablity

playing souls games blind on launch is magical, its like your dropped into this world, discovering everything for yourself and figuring it all out for yourself as well. equally great is going online into the community as you all work the uncover everything in the game. the process of going from surviving the game, to all working together to deconstruct in and master it is an amazing one.

@@Nebulisreconx thats true i suppose, i think because the souls games have way more little details to find and are harder they make the collaboration even more fun to me, you can do it on every game but for me personally i dont every enjoy it as much as i do for fromsoft games

@@C-OBrien the souls style games are just action rpg games that play mental warfare against its players. Enemies and levels are designed to make you hesitate and fearful of any and every encounter. Soon as you get over that, the games are not nearly as hard as most make them out to be. All that difficulty comes from players thinking conventionally, one tactic will never get you through the entire game, it forces you to adjust, that is it’s true genius in my experience. There are harder games on the PS2 and Genisis than anything Fromsoft has ever put out. They just aren’t half as popular. AC: Origins has so many small amazing details as well but because it is an Ubisoft Game and not Fromsoft, so most people just crap on it. But it is such an amazing journey, in a superbly detailed, bustling and living open world that warrants and encourages exploration. But difference is it plays into conventional thinking/gaming not against it.

@@Nebulisreconx absolutely agree, i think the thing that's good about them is 1. they are not mechanically difficult at all, its all mental. I'm to young to have played anything pre-ps3 era but I've played lots of games that have a similar difficulty in terms of decision making being the challenge over mechanical skill. honestly once you stop panic rolling the game becomes like 2-3x easier. things i love about games are well designed combat systems, god level and enemy design, art direction, the ability to explore, character progression and good loot, atmosphere, music. theres lots of games that do some of those things really well but im not sure anyone makes games that do all of them as well as fromsoft, but agreed theres much harder games out there.

Real Talk!! I did the whooole game Blind. I was incredibly satisfied with my experience. So I look at my Trophy list to see what I’m missing…. And dude… the absolute jaw-dropping moment I had when I found out I was missing a boss called “Dragonlord Placidusax”😭😭 Incredibly memorable moment of shock. I went and fought the boss and I was thinking “how could they hide such an incredible boss behind an extremely well kept secret like that? Like, this boss would be the final boss of other games” lmao

it's crazy to think developers would put so much time & energy into optional areas, I hope other developers take note, the whole frost covered/haligtree area is massive if I remember, and takes a bit of exploring and quest following just to unlock, one of the most infuriating but beautiful and thematically important areas in the game, with the best boss in the game, hands down, all hidden behind optional side quests......beautiful game design

Placidusax is easily my favorite dragon in all of FromSoft, especially after all the dragons I have encountered in the game. Always thought it was cool how ancient dragons in general throws lightning spears with their hands to denote intelligence, to which Placidusax goes the next level by throwing a NUKE. The fact he resembles King Ghidorah to Midir's Godzilla made me like him even more.

I'll be honest: I don't play souls games because they're not my idea of rewarding difficulty. I've tried them all, yet not for me. I can totally understand those comments for wanting a 'easy mode', yet those same commenters don't understand that the game isn't for them, and the game shouldn't cater to them. I'm fine with knowing Souls games are beyond me. Horses for courses!

There are easier ways to beat these games but you basically have to follow a guide, or solve the strategy puzzle that makes the game easier before the fights. I see these games as puzzle games more than fighting games and I play them with magic and cheese that others say is bad, but if you figure it out yourself it is rewarding

Thing is, the games are always accessible, just not forgiving. They lose the level of respect for the bosses if there is an easy mode, but from has always left ways to make the game easier through spirit summons and other ways to help

@@EvanExplains It's more that the difficulty isn't what I find enjoyable. I really enjoy hardcore stealth games; no kill, no detection runs. That sort of stuff. I do like watching your content though lol

So like, I'm gonna tell you something that'll blow your mind. Use more than just sight for dodge timing, a lot of bosses have audio cues as part of their wind-ups and just knowing that fact makes the game a lot easier

It has taken me up until now, after seeing Placidusax, beating ER multiple times, getting the platinum, achieving 300hrs+, playing dark souls 3, and getting the platinum for that too (weird flex, Ik I'm sorry) to realize that ER has the same primordial world as Dark Souls did, their ancient worlds were both ruled by dragons. Woah, mind blown, amirite?

The only difference is that Dragons are the rulers, but others exist together with them, while in the world of dark souls only Dragons and tree existed before the fire

Seeing Pacidusax for the first time, Immediately I wanted to see what he was like in his heyday. All his heads and tails him being more feral perhaps a shield and armor to go with his blade. Boss name Prime Placidusax man that’d be dope

The fact that he has the laser beams and can teleport makes him pretty OP and unfair. He was so tough that I beat malekith the black blade before I bested the former Elden Lord

I love how mysterious he is as well, like he was elden lord? does that mean he was elden lord before godfrey? godfrey is called the first. was placidusax a vessel of the great will? was there something before the golden order that rules the lands between and had its own primordial elden lords?

Souls games are pretty hard for me but after struggling for a while and finally getting past that boss or through a certain area that kinda feeling can't be replaced and for that reason alone is why I'll continue playing it even if I'm not that good. I've almost beat DS3 (Im at the Twin Princes) and am currently playing Elden Ring.

7:30 - I think the Fingerslayer blade was made from the remains of Godwyn in order to slay the Two Fingers who inhabit The Lands Between. Which was the plan all along by killing Godwyn in the first place in order to create such a weapon capable of doing so.

Way I got a freind though the Elden ring. Just showed him where night comet and the moonvein were. Had him the the big screeming dragon for the levels. Smooth sailing from there.

first soulslike I ever played I must admit was elden ring, I'm an old gamer, I've witnessed first hand most of the great moments in gaming........but stumbling upon dragonlord placidusax without using any sort of guide is right up there with anything I've ever experienced, then after that incredible fight....you walk upstairs to fight the beast clergyman.....only fromsoft would put the 2 most dramatic fights within a flight of stairs of each other.......not even going to mention the 2 pillows you fight in the dragon temple before that.....

Placidusax's god was probably not an Outer God but was likely an Empyrean turned god chosen by the Two Fingers (or, as it probably would have been in his day, the Celestial Hand). Placidusax was not merely a Lord, but was Elden Lord, meaning that he was a parallel to Godfrey and Radagon, who were lords by right of being the consort to Marika, an Empyrean turned god chosen by the Two Fingers. Also, the dragons who inhabit Farum Azula are imbued with gold, as is the lightning they wield, which is the given reason for why the Dragon Cult was deemed to be not heretical by the Golden Order. As such, the Outer God who is the source of the godhood of Placidusax's mate may be the Greater Will. It could also be the Outer God of the Twin Bird, since there are Twin Bird statues in Farum Azula, and there are humans depicted there but no human graves other than cremation urns, indicating that ghostflame was used there.

Wait... I didn't know Fire Giant was generally annoying. He just felt like other Giants in past souls game but with pyromancy. With Torrent allowed in the fight makes him very easy to dodge.

I think the annoying part was his massive hp, you can fight him for a really long time and if you die you have to start the process all over again. I was overleveled when I fought him so his hp wasnt really a problem for me but I can see where others can find it annoying

Evan I agree with you, those who tell it should have been an easy mode to Software game, as Illidan's would say THEY WERE NOT PREPARED. They thought that they could easy win the first boss, they never took their time to explore, find equipment, weapons, skills ashew of war etc AND THEN GO TO TO THE FIRST BOSS AND IF THEY DID ALL THAT BOOOM OBJECTIVE UNLOCKED, BUT NO THEY WERE NOT PREPARED

I bet he has way more than 13 attacks. For example radahn has 11 attacks in game, but if you control radahn he has roughly 35-40 attacks. All with Unique animations, 25+ unused attacks that he never uses in the game when you fight vs him.

placidusax actually might not be a dragon at all, since dragon weapons do no bonus damage to him. I theorize that he is actually a beast, if you look closely he has wolf like features just like the beast men as well as beast incantation-like abilities, albeit using red lightning infused claws instead. There's definitely big pieces of the story missing, but I think that placidusax and the ancient dragons and beast men have a lot to do with grafting, but until dlc confirms that its really anyones guess.

personally my favorite secret boss is a toss up between Sans and The Nameless King. i LOVE the fight with Nameless King. the lightning strikes, the fact that you also have to worry about A FUCKING DRAGON, and the fact that this man is dripping so hard. as for Sans well.... DOODOO DOOT DOOT! DOOT DOO DODODO DOOT!

depends what you count as secret. the whole of archdragon peak is a secret area so by that logic id say nameless king is comfortably the best secret boss in the series. If he doesn't count it might well be Placi, the intro, the area, the way you find him, his design, the art direction. I find the actual fight to be not that great due to the teleporting but its undeniably cool as fuck.

hey man im not sure if youll see this because the video is 11 days old, just wanted to offer my opinion real quick, not that you asked for it. i think its great that you wanna have your face on camera, but the angle throws me off a bit hahah. i feel like having the camera at more eye level instead of being a few inches above your head would be a more appealing frame for you
