The G502 might not be the best gaming mouse, but for productivity it's a charm. Horizontal scrolling and a free spinning mouse wheel add to the weight (and make the noise while shaking).
Yep, for me it's the best all rounder. It had enough amount of buttons for quick actions/macros and can even add more if using G-Shift feature. The free spinning scroll wheel is awesome, I never thought that I will need it but since I used MX Anywhere, I can't get use any other mice anymore without one. And this is why I'm basically stuck at G502. It would be nice if they can weight shed it, but it doesn't bother me much even playing FPS. The weight actually added control for me and eliminate unwanted shake that can ruin the aim.
But when you "lock" the scroll wheel (at least personally) most of the clicking noise stops. Plus you can change the weights in it for more or less weight... making it one pretty great gaming mouse. Best mouse I've used... plus the 25K Hero sensor is kinda great
@James Stubbs This feature (horizontal scrolling) + Free-spinning mouse wheel makes the G502 impossible to replace. Free-spinning is perfect at work when scrolling through lots of code, and gaming without the horizontal scrolling... I just dont know how I side-stepped before in games.
For those that like the shape but do not want/need the features of g502 and like light mouses, this seems good, but I will never give up hyperscroll, buttons next to left button and even the g-shift functionality.
I got a g602 wireless mouse which is the king imo works absolutely perfect for me. It's Light with interchange battery, 1ms wireless, infinity scroll, extra side buttons, not over the top design, and Bluetooth with easy switch and permanent dpi buttons.
@@Bendoughver I use a 602 for work (CAD drafter) and it’s amazing. The side buttons being programmable are AWESOME for shortcuts and the battery life is insane. Idk about the infinite scroll tho cause mine doesn’t have that
I swear it's like every reviewer forgets that the 502 has those two buttons on the side, which is a huge deal a(for me at least) when playing more casual FPS games, slow-paced FPS (like Squad, that don't need to flick as much), and RPGs. The amount of buttons is the reason I went for the Proteus in the first place and still using a 502 Lightspeed.
The 502 is just the perfect combo of gamer and productivity centric design without looking too gamery or too professional, they really hit the perfect balance and removing even one feature from it really fucks up the whole vibe, if you were to remove a feature from the 502 the absolute last one to remove is hyperscroll
honestly ive switched from a g502 and dont miss the hyperscroll at all, i thought it was useful when i was still using the mouse but in most cases just middle clicking is fine enough
@@TheMonkeyButte If you want a productivity mouse without the gamer look, get the MX Master 3. If you want a heavier gamer mouse with better looks and the same scroll wheel functionality, get the G604. If the scroll is unimportant, get what you want :)
Holes are such a dealbreaker for me - I sweat a lot and it looks disgusting after a month of use and cleaning is a such a chore. Wired G502 is $45 and Wireless $85 where I live and we usually get all electronics more expensive than the US.
The cracks and crevices in my 502 get filled with grossness so quickly I cringed the first time I saw that honeycomb design thinking what a bitch to clean.
@@sorimasn yes, you are suppose to remove the blue stickers on mouse feet as they are just for protecting the relatively soft ptfe feet during transport
yep, i'll get a wireless version, not a wired version. but for those who like wired or want this and don't wanna wait. a neat little thing I use so i don't have to have a cable bungie is use a 'small 3M clip' put that in amazon's search bar. and stick that little dude to the bottom right of my monitor. boom cable bungie without needing a brick on my desk.
@@PallavBhardwaj-dry_ice_cool That's not true, the wireless performance is on par with anyone else. I've seen people complain about the software not being the best but I've never seen anyone imply that the software hinders the wireless performance lol.
This review skips over the best part of the G502, which is the scroll wheel and its infinite scroll mode. I’ve been using a Glorious Model O Wireless and can say that the Logitech G502 is worth the extra money if you ever use the scroll wheel. I frequently find myself wishing more mice had that Logitech scroll tech.
@@thunderarch5951 I agree to an extent. It doesn't do much more in most cases, but makes for a neat fidget toy whenever you want. More practically, I found it very useful for certain sites where page up and down breaks the page instead of loading continuously. Some games and programs it came in handy with indiscriminate zooming or resizing. It's just a novel nice to have that I can't think of how you could substitute or one-up by other methods. It's like RGB, it either has it or it doesn't. Use and love it if you want, turn it off if you don't. I enjoy the simplicity of the feature.
I have a G502 Proteus Core and have had that crusty old thing forever. I used to think someone would have to cut it off my arm. Lately I'm intrigued by the Glorious model D. I really want to try one out. The one thing no other mouse touches is the 502's wheel, it's just perfect. I still don't know why people like lightweight mice. Every mouse is lightweight. All of them. Grow a few muscles.
I can't give up the buttons on the G502 for productivity. Like the mouse wheel moving left and right. Mouse wheel right for Alt+Tab. Dear lord. It's life-changing. So hard to go back to without.
Absolutely love all the buttons. Makes one handed use so much more convenient. The amount of utility you can squeeze out of this mouse is insane. I personally have it set up this way: Front button left of LMB: Middle click because the actual middle click broke (G-Shift: Volume Up) Back button left of LMB: Alt+Tab (G-Shift: Volume down) Middle button behind scroll wheel: Switch DPI Big thumb button for G-Shift LMB + G-Shift: Enter RMB + G-Shift: Mute Sound (This has saved me so many times) Front Thumb Button + G-Shift: Screenshot (Win + Shift + S) also incredibly useful Button behind scroll wheel + G-Shift: Mute Mic Wheel Left + G-Shift: Ctrl + C Wheel Right + G-Shift: Ctrl + V The copy paste one is especially great, because not only is it extremely convenient, is also let's you do zoom if you hold G-Shift, tilt the wheel sideways and scroll, because it's holding Ctrl
Do you use the Model D for productivity ever? I use the scroll wheel a ton in my workflow and find the Model O scroll wheel to be a bit abrasive when used repeatedly over a work day. I understand the Model D uses the same wheel, so I was wondering if my understanding is wrong, or if you have a different use case with less use of the wheel.
@@flipninja55 I personally have kept my old G502 with the hyperscroll for productivity. The Model D still has that same jelly scroll wheel. One of the few flaws of the mouse.
I know fits the "but I like like big mice and I cannot lie" category I do feel we are under represented in reviews here. I want to see reviews for alternatives for my Roccat Tyon which is almost 400 grams and I love it. I got big hands and man the thumb button on that mouse is so great I would never switch to a mouse without it. Anyways, enough rambling from me. More non "pro-gaming" mice reviews please :3
Interesting mouse. The host did a good job of destroying my ability to trust him to competently review things though so I'm going to have to go elsewhere to see if it's actually something I should look into.
Your first mistake was to come here looking for a review. This channel literally hasn't done a review since its inception. This is purely first impressions, nothing else.
The 502 Hero isn’t $89 it’s $40-$50, and the wireless is $120. Idk where you guys got your numbers or if that was Canadian, still kinda weird since you normally use USD
G502 Hero is $80 USD (not on sale) ONLY if you buy directly from Logitech. You're not wrong though, you can buy the same mouse from Best Buy, Walmart, Staples, Gamestop, Ebay etc. from anywhere between $40-$50. It is odd to not go further than the Logitech website for pricing. LTT is usually pretty good about "If you look around, you can find this for $XX USD. So while they're not wrong in the review, it feels a little rushed in the research.
@@bittertriumph2045 yeah totally not a review when they look over it, compare it, test it and then tell you if you should get it or not…totally couldn’t be a review lmao
7:24 I wonder how the weight will match up between the wireless ones, seeing how the G502 Lightspeed is lighter than the wired version, and the Glorious is likely to be heavier. Might even out the gap a fair bit.
looks like it lacks most of the features that make the wireless 502 pretty much ideal for my use case. Looks like a decent mouse, but it's unlikely to be a 502 killer.
Well i would guess that in about 6 months or so there will be a wireless version. Then it becomes a matter of if you want a lighter mouse or infinity scroll
I play competitively and use a heavy mouse. I'm 6'3 with hands the size of dinner plates and my job involves lifting 120kg all day. A 200g mouse literally feels like there's nothing in my palm. Although for the average person with average size hands I can understand how a smaller lighter mouse is preferred. I'm just glad not all companies are going down this ultra lightweight route.
I am the same but also after nearly 30 years of playing shooters muscle memory is used to heavy mouse. I tried a light mouse once and kept overshooting
Every single mouse is lightweight. ALL of them are lightweight objects. I don't understand this "light weight mouse" nonsense. There must be lots of streamers and pros with twig arms like toddlers
@@rossharper1983 what are you talking about? if you want an example look at BlameF in CSGO. this dude lifts like crazy and still uses a superlight. Lighter mice takes time to get used to. just like going from a light mouse to heavy one. If you wanna get good with a new mouse then you have to get used to it.
I think this comparison is pretty unfair considering you skipped over a few very cool things about the G502. There’s a reason the 502 has been the most popular mouse for the last 5-10 years or however long it is
Bought this yesterday and couldn’t be happier. One of few mice my 21x11 cm hands can pull into a full palm grip and still reach at least three side buttons. Usually I have to either pull back into a cramped/uncomfortable palm/fingertip hybrid (most of fingers and top palm resting on mouse, with a void between the mouse hump and lower palm), or my thumb is too far forward in a full, proper palm grip to reach the side buttons. This is perfect for both situations.
I'd like wireless, but honestly, the bigger issue for me is I like 6 buttons on the side, and with out another 2 on top like the Logitech G604, the issues really start to stack up for use for me.
@@iambear.6526 nope, but it has a ~240 hour life from a AA, so even at the 20% warning, you still have ~24 hours of use to swap out? 2 rechargeable AA's have served me well. YMMV
I would love to try this, but my G502 is just too reliable and fits my hand perfectly. As someone who broke their hand badly ( 4th and 5th metacarpals more than 2 months in multiple casts with aluminum splints to boot), it's hard to find a mouse that doesn't make my hand ache. I also love the weight, it's comforting. The holes on the Glorious for someone who sweats, like me, might be an issue too. Side note: For anyone interested the G502 is on sale at amazon for $39.83 as of today 4/22/22.
yeah g502 is pretty fantastic for comfort. I recently got the Hero version though, and the sensor keeps going crazy. I think it doesn't deal well with the cat hairs on my desk, whereas the older proteus core version seems to have no issues. I ended up getting a razer basilisk v3 to replace it, and that is very similar in shape/functionality but without the sensor issues.
I loved my 502, upgraded to the wireless version and loved that as well. But I knew it was a heavy mouse and wanted to try something lighter and just switched to the g pro wireless. Overall the g pro is a great mouse but I miss the utility of the extra buttons on the 502. If they made an ultralight 502 wireless I would buy it without a doubt
The thing is, these mice aren't supposed to be light, that's the whole point of getting a 502. Personally, light mice just feel cheap, But to each their own
Of course each their own. But back in the day I had a Logitech G5, and my roommate a G7. That g7 was heavier because of the wireless and such... And I never liked it compared next to each other. Since then, i prefer lighter mice (never understood the weights you sometimes get, i always left out the entire cartridge ). The g305 lightspeed with a smaller battery has been my go to for work and gaming for a few years now. For the price , awesome. But they seem to die on me. In a whim, bought the glorious o (i believe it is). And from within minutes of unboxing and using it , i ordered two more for my other computers. It just felt soooo good instantly , the (charging) cable is just so nice and drapes around without any resistance... I was just in love instantly . _if_ you like light mice , go for anything glorious makes that seems good to you.
G502 Wired feels great in my hand. Been using it since 2019 and no clicking issues so far. I use it for RTS and Open World games and the Pro X Wireless for FPS and work. Amazing mice! Not sure yet with the Glorious ones but I might try.
if you have the pro x superlight then a glorious mouse isn't exactly an upgrade. they are pretty on par with each other. There are however a pro version of the model O wireless coming out at 55 grams the 24th of may and will end in 2 weeks time. The pro version of the mouse wont have holes and comes in 3 different colors. They look stunning and also uses better clicks than the old model O wireless. might be a contender for best mouse if the quality is great on them
I'm a huge fan of the G502 personally, however, having to trade in using warranty every time the buttons flake out on me is annoying. I'm so used to the wireless G502 so can't really bite the bullet for this but the moment there's a wireless version I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
The rattling of the scroll wheel on the 502 bothered me a little, but it's a fair trade for the amazing infinite scroll mode. And 502 has a wireless version so 👌
I've been using Glorious' Model D for a long time and I've enjoyed it a lot. I personally like the White with black buttons on it but its good to see they made a competitor for the G502!
had a D, got a D-. I don't have linus hands but my fingers aren't very long. my thumb is oddly long, and my palm is rather chunky from working on farms and tinkering with cars for all my days. it's like 1 big callus hammer and some phalanges hanging off of it.
Ive had my D for well over a year, its held up well and i love the look. The g502 looks quite a bit too gamery for me. Ihave been thinking about getting an I, i think if like the thumb rest and could use the extra thumb buttons.
I keep my 502 for productivity. The left and right buttons on the scroll wheel is something I value a lot. Being able to switch between tabs using the left and right buttons on the scroll wheel is something I've been using for years and I can't go back
Is there a benefit to having the cord be hardwired to the mouse? Why not just have a USB-C port that’s detachable for easy replacement? This has annoyed me about arcade sticks as well.
For productivity I'll never go back to a mouse with less programmable buttons than the G600. It saves so much time having any macro you want at the tip of your thumb!
I use a mx vertical mouse for work. the ONLY thing I really didn't like at first was when i'd click, sometimes i'd push the mouse slightly. so instead of 'CLICKING' buttons in various programs, i'd just 'HIGHLIGHT' the damn thing. getting better. I do which it had some more programmable buttons. I'd love a [copy] and [paste] button on the mouse, but I added that to the keeb so I don't have to move my hands to hit CTRL+C/V. yes I cpy and pst that much. I do revenue cycle management with 3 programs that don't play well in the sandbox and have to use PDF, crystal reports, excel, notepad text files depending on the task. sometimes I really want to learn programming. now i'm rambling, sorry, ADHD. I hope you have a good day Lord JBP of JBP's Creativatorium. Imma click on ur channel now cause ur name. bye bye. EDIT. YOU HAVE 69 SUBS TO YOUR CHANNEL!! very nice.
@@Meatsweats_o_O Hahahahaha, thanks! I know right!? I've been thinking "Nice" every time I get on RU-vid these days. But I just went to 70 today, at least now you can subscribe without breaking the "Nice" streak if want to. Hahaha Have a great day!
I like the heavier mouse. Even for flicks, I can't stand a light mouse, I'm constantly moving past my target and I feel like I'm working harder to keep the mouse from going past my target. It's easier to control a heavier mouse with a bit more static friction to me. That said, my hands measure 8 1/2 inches from palm to the top of my middle finger and 10 inches from pinky to thumb. So yeah, I've got an above average hand size.
@@troyvzwky if only Razer made the latest version in Mercury White. I'm trying to go for an all-white prepherial setup and the black G502 is ruining it, but there's no suitable replacement with all the features I use
The g502 is incredible, especially for the sometimes 30 dollar price tag. Above the GPro, Model O, death adder, viper, and g303, it's been my absolute go to, despite the weight, despite the wire. It's lasted for what is basically my entire time gaming (8ish years) and had had no issues at all. Realistically, the mouse buttons will fall off before you go out of rated spec, and the mouse is plenty strong enough to withstand more than a little gamer rage
Tip: If you have a wireless mouse, want it as light as possible and it takes AA or AAA batteries, use li-Ion ones. The are a few grams lighter than alkeline ones and also last longer 😉
Video suggestion: Best gamers at LTT vs worst gamers at LTT but the best gamers have to use 15-year old peripherals and the worst gamers get the best peripherals purchasable today!
Man, I would love if someone could pull me away from my G502, but I love my left index buttons, I regularly use the freewheel scrolling. The fact that those don't exist in this model is a real bummer.
I have had super mixed experiences with Glorious. I want to love their products but there is always at least one thing that goes wrong. I've had much better experiences with Razor/Logitech in terms of longevity, consistency, and reliability. I really want Glorious to come up because more competition is always better. But I feel like they're still ironing out the kinks in a lot of their products.
Experience is different for every one. I don't own my glorious mice long enough to give a remark about reliability. But from the old mx518 of which I had multiple , the G5 of which I had 2, the steelseries ikari , to the Logitech g305 of which I owned 4.... They all have issues within 2 years. Cable issues , switches going bad and clicks not registering or registering multiple times , connectivity suddenly dropping (g305 turning off while in use )... I've never had mice live long I'd i use them daily . I have a Roccat wireless that lives good and some older Logitech non gaming travel mice... But I hardly ever use them , so it doesn't count that they still live :)
I've had two model os and they both broke within 3 months. Some of my friends broke theirs within 2 weeks. I just used it normally, the plastic became slippy and glossy from being used within 2 months, I hate the honeycomb shells, I just don't like it. I don't trust Glorious after these experiences. The mouse was great at first but then it just all fell apart, twice in a row. I buy a Viper Mini for just 30 dollars and it lasts me over a year still going strong with no problems. Razer's Viper line up was perfect for me.
Love to see the competition and the customizable buttons but a universal software would be nice to Programm all the different brands hotkeys and extra keys. Over time I got my setup from logitech and gHub just runs nice and fine on the background
I just bought the Model I wired version at New York Comic Con after trying it out on the show floor, and i can say, it is really quite good...very light, it just feel premium...this does not feel like something cheap from a small company, and the software that comes with it for controlling it is very well put together...first time i launched it, it immediately told me my mouse has a firmware update, installed it in seconds with a single click...overall, an exceptionally good experience
G502 sucks, I don't know why people recommend it. Broke instantly for me, tons of people report the automatic double clicking issue all over the internet, and the GHub software is the worst software I've ever installed.
Mine broke after 3 months (double click issue). Which was super annoying, since it replaced my previous logitech mouse, that had the same issue, albeit after several years. I read then, that this was a common issue with that mouse, but still went with logitech g502. Sadly the support was so terribly unhelpful, that I gave up and bought another mouse (Asus Gladius II Wireless). I still miss the perfect shape and scroll wheel, but I will never recommend logitech to anyone because of the abysmal customer support
I ended up buying a Pwnage mouse over Glorious because they have non honeycomb options. Also lots of interesting color options. Been using it for a few months now and I've liked it quite well.
The thing that the G502 has which no other mice seem to have is the third side button, and the buttons beside the left click that are usually used for dpi shift. These alone contribute to me not replacing my G502.
Same, it doesn't really make sense to me to compare mice to the G502 when they're just copying the overall shape but not the features, especially those two left click adjacent buttons I use constantly in game.
Had a G502 Hero for 6 months. Used it for about a month as my main mouse. Left mouse button started going out… Went back to a year-old Naga Trinity. Honestly going to be hard to go back to a Logitech mouse unless I get one for free. Sample size of 1, I know…but I’m not hard on my tech products at all. I thought I’d miss the flywheel more than I have.
Really annoying that most companies are going for the trendy honeycomb design and not finding other ways to reduce the weight while having a solid shell. To my knowledge, only Razer, Logitech, Cooler Master, Roccat & Ninjutso are innovating on ways to reduce weight without having holes while others are basically copying the same design and add holes to the shell
Fun thing about the glorious website is that they have a cancel order button that is commented out in the HTML, if you inspect the html is possible to re-enable the button and cancel the order.
From the view of someone that does not need any of the extra buttons and the scroll wheel on the G502 (I use a Model O Wireless) I definitely think that the model I is a good option if you want the buttons and shape that it has that other mice don't (except the G502 and some more). But, if you do need the extra buttons and scroll wheel, the G502 is still an option.
If you're having trouble with cable drag, you don't have to get a bungie. Just cable tie your mouse cable to your DP or HDMI cable and give it like 2 inches of slack, you'll never notice the cable again
I genuinely am a fan of heavier mice. But that's just because it's what I'm used to. Willing to bet it's a detriment to me in games, but light mice just don't feel right in my hand.
It's easy to be put off by plastic that feels "cheap" out of the box but often, they're the ones that resist finger oils the best. The ones that go for the premium textured finishes often just feel nice when it's new but hardly as good a year later of everyday use. Also, on the subject of fatigue on heavy mice, you're mistaken. People who use heavy mice go with higher DPI and therefore most of the movement is done with just small wrist movements whereas, with light mice, you go low DPI with much more arm movement from either elbow or shoulders. You can get fatigued with both, just in different ways. It's not that heavy mice will get you more fatigued.
I put all of the weights in my 502 wireless. The software and hyper scroll wheel are things I need in a mouse now. This move to super ultra light mice has saved me a lot of money.
