“That laptop that I didn’t use to study” definitely relate to this, but to playing on Friv as well! I loved how you tried to put this in prospective and focus on the transferable skills aspects. I used to do something similar as a 13-15 year old where I would just spend a lot of time on youtube watching videos of American youtube girls, talk to english speaking people in Stardoll and do that for hours and not study at all. That allowed me to then later teach myself science through finding RU-vidrs teaching science like Khan Acadamy, Eddie Woo and even use English Textbooks to learn things. Learning english allowed me then to get back on track to the point that I even got a scholarship in a slightly competitive high school. But had it not been for having learned english and discover youtube, i guess i would still be in my hometown. However me now would see that as what a procrastinator was&still am I and how i had to learn it in the ‘’unconventional’’ way unlike my friends and cousins who would go to language school, because I wasn’t smart enough but this inspired me to actually think of it in a more positive way. Thank you for that Tanzeer.

Thanks for sharing this!! Glad I didn’t grow up some weird way, and that there were many other kids who had similar childhoods. Super super cool how you used RU-vid to learn English, very similar to how I used games to learn the language of 3D art and game development. I’m glad this made you think about your childhood and upbringing in a positive way. Crazy how these small things can have such a huge influence on who we grow to become.
