Additives like vitamin c, copper peptides, and Hylauronic acid are great. Obviously, don't have to use in the same routine but they are all great for skincare. Dr. Drat has videos about them all. Skin should also be exfoliated
Yes! I work in a pharmacy and a lady came in asking what she can use to prevent dark spots , I told her sunscreen, and it was almost as is she didn't believe me because she asked my coworker the same question right after 😂 so many more benefits than what people give it
Truth!!! My beautiful wise mother in law whom looked at least 10 yrs younger, told me many years ago when I was mother You want to stay young looking? wear Sunscreen everyday.
You are 100% right. My skin looks better now in my late 30s than it did in my early 30s because of my consistent daily sunscreen use for the past six years.
Dr. Dray, I started watching your videos a few years ago. Since following your recommendations, my skin looks better at 40 than it did in my early/mid 30’s. I can’t thank you enough. ❤❤❤
We live in FL~ and my daughter just graduated college (in FL). She’s just now starting to listen to some elderly (me age 50) words of wisdom. I just said look around when you go out and see people ~ the ones that wear sun protection vs the ones that haven’t and you choose what you want your face to look like in the future. Ofc~ there are expensive in office treatments but the very basic great head start, is to wear sunscreen daily on that beautiful young looking face that she has 😎
You’re lucky! My adult kids just think I’m a 52 year old crazy elderly woman slathering myself in spf and talking nonsense. They’ll learn the hard way unfortunately. I told them to start saving now for the SC surgeries and plastic surgery. 😖🙄💜
Same here. I always like to look around and see which people are taking sun protection measures seriously. If they’re not even wearing sunglasses or a sun hat on a 90 degree day outside odds are they likely aren’t wearing sunscreen either.
I totally agree! Im 58 and have been using sunscreen consistently,EVERY day even when lm at home, rain or shine,it goes on my face and chest area(unfotunantly l tend to forget my hands) . I have been doing this for the past 7 years, and it has actually reversed some sun damage. Even better, my skin has never looked better and people have actually commented on how good it looks. And no , l dont use retinol.
Consistancy is probably more important than actual brand. Use what you like, but stick with it for half a year and see your results. Take a before and after pic to see for yourself. ❤
I was waiting anxiously for the SPF then came at the end, then I felt I could breathe again 😂 indeed you are 1000%right ever since I started watching RU-vid videos I step up my SPF usage and it has been over 7 years, my skin looks so much better than it looked in my 30's I wanted to thank you from the heart every thing you do to share your knowledge with us
Finally someone agrees with me I do not like retinol at all. I tried it for over seven years. I look like a red peeling tomato for years awful. Under my dermatologist for acne, I am a professional. I did a very light I did moisturizer oil. I tried everything. Then I got a facial went monthly is gentle products. My skin is gorgeous. I’m 68. No wrinkles. I definitely prefer Alpha hydroxy for exfoliating once a week.
Long time Dr. Dray devotee here: I just about have come to this same conclusion. I had a very bad experience with Retin A years ago and now have tried several retinol serums over the course of about two years for aging. I have found that, for me, the result is lackluster. I love my active acids, Vit C and Niacinamide make a huge difference in my 69 yo skin tone and texture. AND my Japanese/Korean products/sunscreens.
yes, this is the first time i see her with a filter actually. She was the only one who did not use a filter. Probably the camera she uses does it automatically, I don't think she would do that on purpose, because she is the most honest person out there.
I agree completely. When I can't get a *good* nights sleep (not disturbed by waking up + at least 8 hrs) or if I have a bout of insomnia, I don't even want to look at myself in the mirror!🪞 Sleep is underrated imho.😊
@@veronicaspencelocke2003 Precisely! I have insomnia and I take sleeping pills a few times a week, which help me to sleep more than 12 hours, and I will look fabulous every time. ☺️
Without protecting your skin with sunscreen the rest of your products are a waste! It’s just so easy to use a moisturizer WITH SPF as your daily moisturizer! Every. Day. There, done! Bring that bottle of 50 spf to the Beach or the Pool! That goes on head to toe! Everywhere! Where a Hat! One with a wide brim. Bring a white button up long sleeve oxford shirt to the beach. Protect your skin! Your future Self is counting on you! ❤ I’m a retired licensed Esthetician 😊
@colleenpec121 it's Eucerin lotion plus 10%. I use lrp uv mune hydrating spf 50. European sunscreens are supposed to contain stronger chemical filters. Regards
Been using a high level sunscreen every day since the early 80s. Im now in my 60s. It absolutely works. I have minimal wrinkles & when out shopping I’ve been asked what I use on my face what could I recommend. Always said SUNSCREEN… I’ve banged on about sunscreen way before social media & to who ever listen. lol Australian sun here is very harsh.
In addition to mineral sunscreen, you most definitely should be using an active (or more) on your skin regularly. Vitamin C, peels, Retin-A, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, etc.
I am a new Aesthetician at 60 years old. I had never had a facial until I was a student. Only consistent skincare from the age of 18 and sunscreen sunscreen sunscreen. It really works❤
Someone can go on RU-vid and tell everyone that the newest amazing new find to get rid of wrinkles is putting ketchup on your face ….the price will quadruple and folks will run out and buy a few bottles😂.
I’ve used a face covering with upf for years. Even before the ladies in golfing started making it cool. It has SO paid off! Bring on 50, I’m ready. It covers my face and my neck and I never have to worry about messing up my makeup. I wear it on walks and when driving.
What about addresing the here and now, if one already has them? Then Tretinoin is most likely best option in addition to moisturizers. (assuming we r using sunblock diligently).
I like Banana Boat with Vitamin C & B12 I use that , that’s my new one I like elf with the blur also I like coopertone Glow, I like Hawaiian tropics one with moisturizer in it , and I reapply during my day and my hands and arms and neck ears and behind my ears, I know people who never used it that are my age and the difference is who looks younger, when they tell people we are all the same age people think I’m not even close to this age, I love that ! Sunscreen always❤
Thank You for saying this. Im 40 and try some retinols lately. But nothing works for me 🥲 My skin looks awful. but beauty influencers keep saying, use retinols, bla bla bla. but i can’t 🥲
I just ready an article on the efficacy of spf in sunscreen and was shocked! I live in FL and sunscreen has been my #1. I discovered my spf 30 was only giving me 15!
Somehow I knew she'd say that, I don't think sunscreen can "address" wrinkles tho when they are already there, it's for prevention. Tretinoin on the other hand can do that. (I'm sorry but I'm kind of annoyed at these type of videos)
Organic Rosehip oil! Has been proven to reduce signs of aging along with addressing a multitude of other skin conditions. It is naturally high in Vitamin A. Just double-check to make sure it's acceptable to use while pregnant- even all-natural products can pose a risk to some individuals, so always check before starting a new product.
I'm obsessed with sunscreen. When i finally take time to look at my skin bare, it's come a long way in ten years. I was baseball hat and turn away from the sun being directly in my face for years before discovering sunscreen due to my dermatologist for other issues in my 30s.
I know someone who thinks you only need sunscreen if it's hot and sunny.🙄 She doesn't believe you can get sunburn and sun damage on a cloudy day. 💁🏼♀️
The products that has done the most for my skin texture by far is just using a good sunscreen every day (European or Japanese/Korean with the state of the art filters)
Hey, I really like your videos. I'm looking at getting a new moisturiser and wondered if the following ingredients were good? I will list them: Purified Water, White Soft Paraffin 13.2% w/w, Light Liquid Paraffin 10.5% w/w, Emulsifying Wax (SLS free), Polysorbate 60, Glycerol, Cetostearyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid Monohydrate. Thank you 😊
Dr. Will you address Medicaid facials with dermaplaning! I get light chemicals, derma plane and purging of the pores and I lay off skincare for about a week after just moisturizer, eye cream and SPF. Thank you!
I have tried a few different retinoids, and unfortunately none of them have agreed with my skin. I have quite nice skin actually but during these two years that I have been consistent with retinal/retinol my skin has been terrible. Now I stopped using it and my skin has gone back to normal. So only moisture and sunscreen for me…
Which is why foundations contain craploads of sunscreen. Just don't bake in the sun, ladies have known this for thousands of years, even Egyptians. People laugh and call me a vampire, but I look younger than all of them. 😆
Thank you Dr Dray for your always Truthful advice♥️🙌🌞 Can you share which mascara you’re wearing? & if you use a lash growth serum? I know most can have that dangerous ingredient.
Has anyone else tried Apostrophe skincare sunscreen? I have been using it for about 4 months now and my skin has never looked better. It’s designed for acne prone and sensitive skin, fragrance free and hydrating. Amazing for my 40yo skin. Just throwing it out there bc I think it’s fairly new/I hadn’t heard of it/I like reading comments for reccos
Can you recommend some sunscreens for ezcema prone skin? I literally have tried so many mineral, chemical, and even hybrid sunscreens and they all break my face out in a rash some have even sent me to the ER (the pipette one 😩). Someone please help!!
