The BEST sounding F-18 demo EVER! 

1:00 - that gorgeous howl she makes.

I've been a pilot (not in the military) ever since I turned 18 and that sound just gives me goosebumps at 1:03-1:08

It's awesome how the pilot flew the machine and showed its awesome capabilities. The extreme low speed and high alphas it can do, it's incredibly fast turn rate and ability to speed up and slow down using the air, I just love the hornet.

I must admit, It is hard to capture the rumble with the noise of a jet engine. You captured the rumble excellently, and I'm not sure what part I like more with this video, the video, or the sound! ........probably, the sound! Awesome stereo-fect. And the video is great too......good job man!

Jesus, that compressor fan howl at the one minute mark made the hair on my arms stand straight up... what an incredible aircraft!

I took my Son & his friend to Selfridge Air National Guard ANG about 3 times in 1988-1990 to see Blues Angels & an F-14 Tom Cat. The announcer said after the Angels took off they turned around and grouped up at Port Huron 30 miles away. But when the Tom Cat did his routine he took off and flew straight up, then straight back down, then made low level passes over the crowd at just under the speed of sound and NEVER LEFT THE PERIMETER OF THE BASE. It was ausome!

The probable cause of that high pitch howling sound is either the jet might have holes or vents that which supersonic air is rushing over it much like you blowing air onto the bottle which high speed air is quite compressed unlike subsonic air which the speed is lower than the speed of sound. The Doppler effect also plays a role by the compressed air at supersonic speeds creates higher frequencies leading to that beautiful howl you are listening. Or that the jet itself is approaching the sound barrier and that the immense wave drag forming on the aircraft creates drag and again Doppler effect also causes the frequency to change and the outflow velocity of the air is proportional to the Doppler effect so that means that the pilot will be hearing a constant frequency because he or she is in the vicinity of the supersonic shockwave in the aircraft the observer will hear the changes in frequency because the observer is stationary but the plane is flying

That is one of the best "blue notes" I have ever heard on the internet....

VF 101 Grim Reaper pilots always put on great shows ! I once saw an F 14 from VF 101 at the Reno air races in Nevada. He flew around the cones on the course!@

F-18 compared to F-14 is extremely agile, thanks the lightweight body and powerful engines that allow the Hornet make wonderful tricks even above the G-limits!

That’s the inlets howling. Resonant frequency between the inlet and the first stage compressor at low throttle. It’s actually very common, most jets do it to some degree.

F-18 is loud but not the loudest. When it comes to loud, it's the Thunderscreech FTW!! The only airplane to create so much sonic booms that it rendered a man incapacitated!
