The Nikon Z 180-600 has been fantastic for me. I have used it for spots and wildlife photography, the images are sharp and bright, I can't say anything negative about it.

Hi I personally think that the big 3 brands Canon, Sony and Nikon alternate in the leading position. With these 3 major players on the world market, you don't have to worry about the quality, it is always good👍

Bugger me, a non-fan boy outlook. Dead right too, and it's pretty much always been like that, even before Sony made cameras, it was Minolta and that's who Sony bought out to get their leg up.

Thanks for doing this comparison, I just recently got into shooting wildlife, birds in flight in particular and purchased the Sony 100-400 GM, love the sharpness, but often use it in apsc mode to get the extra reach to 600 mm. Thanks again for your great videos and work, really appreciate both of your hard work and dedication so us newbie photographers can learn from you.

Thanks so much for the comment. Birds in flight is a very challenging subject, good gear is only part of it, technique and understanding how to get the most out of your choice in equipment is also very important. Cheers

I’ve been shooting some soccer recently with the Canon 200-800mm on a R7. The extra reach from the lens itself and the APS-C sensor in the body come in absolutely clutch. It’s nice that the various brands are coming out with a range of flexible, quality telephoto zooms these days.

These three lenses provide tremendous versatility and excellent image quality at approachable prices. Thank you for reviewing the lenses and highlighting their most important qualities. I agree that the lack of Arca-Swiss compatible lens feet is a weakness for all three.

Fact is, hard as it is to believe, not everyone uses Arca Swiss tripod clamps. That's why lenses don't come with Arca Swiss compliant plates.

I wish Canon would have been able to squeeze one more stop of light out of the 200-800, but rumor says Sigma may get the green light to start making RF lenses this year. I'm going to hold off on my next super zoom until Canon allows 3rd party makers into the game!
@badboyvr4
@badboyvr4 6 месяцев назад
Same for me, if Sigma gets the green light to make RF lenses hopefully they'll come out with something better than an f/9 200-800mm lens.
@kanaheiusagi
@kanaheiusagi 6 месяцев назад
even 1/3 stops would make the lens significantly bigger, the aperture opening would need to be more than >100mm (f8)
@Hodenkat
@Hodenkat 6 месяцев назад
I would opt for the Sigma 150-600 at f/5 to f/6.3 if it were available in RF mount.@@kanaheiusagi

Another stop of light at 800mm would have meant significantly more weight and a lot more money. The 800mm 5.6 (only a stop and a third faster) is a $16,000.00 lens. For a smidge over a stop slower (the patent on the 200-800 actually says it's f 8.5) I'll pocket the extra $14,000.00!

It can be very frustrating when you watch a video about a new lens, like the M43 150-600, when you shoot Canon. Only the 200-800 is a shade longer, 1280mm, on the R7. Very few of us can afford to run two systems, but all the major brands are pretty much on par. I've been a professional for 50 years, people have always asked 'what is the best camera?' the one in your hand obviously. It isn't the brand, it is the nut on the shutter that makes the difference. Neat video, only in the UK, Canon does not know when they will get more stock for the 200-800, and I am wondering if the difference between that and the 100-400Lii with a 2x with be worth the cost.

@@a97b18b I was out with my 100-500 yesterday and my R6ii and 1.4. Missed a great shot due to restricted FL of 300-500 with 1.4 on (420-700) when a family of 7 Mute Swams suddenly took off and flew past if I could have zoomed back to 140 or 200 I could have got them, instead I could only get 3, my EF 100-400Lii doesn't have that problem, that is the one thing I don't like about the 100-500. Have the 200-800 on order and if I like it I will still be keeping the 100-500

The F9 on the Canon isn't an issue as if you put a 1.4x teleconverter on the Nikon or Sony lenses to get them to 840mm they are F9 as well. But Canon including a lens hood and weather sealing on a non L series lens, about time Canon.
@Wildridefilms
@Wildridefilms 6 месяцев назад
Yeah, but at 600mm the canon is already past f/8 whereas the other lenses are at f/6.3. Very few people NEED 800mm. Weird decision on Canon's part. It was not a big problem on the RF100-500 because that was f/5.6 upto 380mm or so, very similar to the conventional 100-400mm lenses.
@RichardoBrit
@RichardoBrit 6 месяцев назад
@@WildridefilmsTotally agree - if it was 6.3 at 600 mm and then you had the option of 800 mm at F9, that would be great and super convenient. But to be at F8 or so at 600mm vs. F6.3, it’s quite a step back.

@Wildridefilms
@Wildridefilms 6 месяцев назад
@@kennethlui2268 Yes, very few people NEED 800mm. Tiny bird photography is a pretty small niche. With modern cameras, you can easily crop a 600mm shot to a 1000mm without a perceivable loss in image quality.

@@Wildridefilms I guess you don’t take tiny bird pictures. I do. I need 800 mm. Actually 800 on full frame is minimum for tiny birds in my opinion. I don’t take photos of birds next to a feeder.
