So I picked up a bottle of Ocho blanco and made a margarita with it and completely blown away by it ! I appreciate you explaining all your choices and why. Thank you for upping my tequila game. I now feel more confident going down the tequila isle and picking out something good that most people will walk past. Cheers !
I don’t know what the deal is but Cimarron is doing wonders on me. Can’t believe this thing is sooooo good. The flavors are so weirdly good is ridiculous already. Got the repo and it is sweet, I like sweet in tequila. Made a margarita today and my wife looked at my like I went somewhere. I guess it is a taste I like. Can’t wait to try the añejo.
Been making Margaritas with Lalo… it’s such a versatile tequila… good for sipping… and definitely shines in any drink I’ve made, and I’m not even a good bartender 😅
-1 for Lalo, I was definitely underwhelmed...esp for the price. May I kindly suggest Arette, Real Del Valle, El Bandido Yankee and Tapatio regular and HP blancos. All excellent additive free blanco😊 mixers also a great price points. Salud!
I really wished we in Europe had that many choices. I'd like to try Cimarron, Arette & 3 agaves to compare best blanco for Margarita & Paloma. Thank you for the recommandations
I know that’s the classic recipe but man Cointreau is so sweet you don’t need the extra sugar. I prefer pierre ferrand dry curaçao in my marg because it is less sweet and has a much more natural rich tasting orange flavor and I still don’t find the need to add simple P.S. I just tried the arette fuerte artesanal 101 blanco as my current margarita pour and it slaps!
My wife an eye really enjoy Codigo Blanco for margaritas. Not exactly budget friendly. 54.99 at total wine.saw it 10 bucks less somewhere else. Also bought the anejo of tres agaves. Not really a fan. Im about to pour one right now and give it another go. I didn’t like tequila ocho at first. The flavor grew on me. It is smooth af.
Thank you for upping my margarita game! Your videos are very informative and well done. I don't like adding a lot of agave because of the health concerns in the recent news. So it's more of a skinny margarita.
I made a Margarita with the Arette blanco ... and it was an epiphany! Sipped on its own, the Arette has a subtle caramel note that shines through even more beautifully in a Margarita (forget the Reposado) ... Cheers!
I find that Grand Marnier works really well with Arette. It smooths and rounds it out better than Cointreau.. for me. I like Clémont Créole Shrubb in general for Tiki Drinks but not with Arette.
Just discovered your channel / instagram and I have to admit; I did not know about your game so big respect / big ups. I feel like I have discovered Tequila all over again while admitting that I've been doing it ALL WRONG by drinking Costo/Kirkland tequila. Thank you for setting me on the right path. I will be buying some of these Tequilas in my near future. Thank you, a new subscriber.
I generally wouldn't use expensive spirits in a cocktail but good quality and no additives. I like 1. Arette 2. Tapatio, 3. Tres Agaves as inexpensive mixers. I'm sure there are many more good options. You have to mix the right orange liquor with the right tequila too.
you swallowed each shot... lol waiting to see if youre slurring towards the end. lol. Thanks so much for sharing. ive only heard of two of these and tried one. loved learning about these new options. Thanks again.
El Tequlieno should of been the honorable mention than Tres Agaves. Compared to it Tres Agaves really lacked in a classic margarita and flavored margarita compared to El Tequileno. It didn’t have that kick blanco tequila usually have when it came to Tres agaves.
I finally got my first bottles of Fortaleza blanco and repo. Of course I was blowing away for the quality and craftsmanship ofthis amazing brand. And I did the unthinkable. I made a margarita with the blanco and things happen in my brain. Just saying. I am in trouble now, cause Fortaleza is very difficult to get and pricey 😢
I share your sentiments, man. I wouldn't want to put a whole bottle of really nice booze into cocktails, but I will absolutely make one or two. If you really enjoy cocktails, make it with great ingredients! The purists can go keep pretending to be sommeliers and get made fun of by normal people who just, you know, enjoy their drinks!
Right now my favorite tequila for margaritas is Tapatio. It’s a little more expensive than Cimarron but it has a wonderful crisp rich cooked agave flavor with just the right amount of citrus flavor to it, and it’s additive free. It’s made at La Alteña where Tequila Ocho was started and also where El Tesoro is still made.
Tres Agaves and Cimarron punch WAY out of their price range, really confirms that price means nothing when it comes to tequila quality. I prefer them to offerings more than double their price. Not the best I've ever had, but I can actually afford to keep them on my shelf at all times, and do so happily!
Lalo tequila blanco 750ml is $26.99 in L.A. I just bought 8 bottles. Also, I can confirm tequila Ocho in a margarita is BOMB! Probably the best to have in a margarita then other tequilas. Casa dragones blanco was close to tequila Ocho in a margarita but casa dragones is more expensive.
Just picked up a bottle of lalo blanco. Making margaritas at family beach trip. Do you have any batch recipes so I’m not mixing drinks one after another? Thanks! Great video btw
Hmmmmmm that's a great question. It depends. I really enjoy both brands and think they do things incredibly well. El Tequileño is slightly cheaper so it would depend on my budget at the time but it's hard to separate the two tbh.
I didn't realize you should have simple syrup in a Margarita. I'll have to give it a try, since the only Margarita I ever made only had tequila, triple sec and lime and that wasn't too much of enjoyment for me. I can't get my hands on your tequilas over here in Finland but it sure would be nice to know if they tase very much different from Patron for example. I'm still trying to find the part in me that enjoys tequila, but I do enjoy your videos and your attitude (agave comment)!
I’m hoping one of these days you get to review the Santo tequila. It’s Guy Fieri and Sammy Hagar’s brand and one, if not the only, celebrity tequilas to be additive free
Don't Hate Me... I am just asking. What about those, ummm.... Margaritas mixes? like the Jose Cuervo or others, then just add tequila? AWESOME VIDEO!!!
If you want to see how drastically different a fresh margarita really is. Buy one of those mixes. And then make an actual fresh margarita and taste them side by side. You'll never buy one of those pre mixes again haha
Not sure if youve ever reviewed it or talked about it but whats your opinion on herradura. Ive used it for margaritas in the past but wasnt sure if it was actually a viable option. Ive been using tequila ocho for margatritas as of late tho
Olmeca Altos reposado is my favorite mixer tequila. Cheap. Still made the traditional way in stone ovens. The result is a robust agave flavor, yet smooth. Literally everything else worthwhile under $40 is made by diffuser or autoclave (not that autoclave is necessarily a bad method). Diffuser tequila like Cazadores just isn't even worth it... When I'm feeling fancy, Tequila Ocho reposado and Tromba reposado are my go-to's.
