I almost went with the 4100 after your review but I really wanted decline for sit-ups and benching but I ended up going with this one and I love it. The decline is perfect for me and I didn’t like the leg roller pin at first either but it works just fine once you get use to it. For the money I think this is by far the best bench available
Bought this exact bench within the week of their release. Didn’t even know it was a new release. Couple months later it’s been an absolute beast of an bench for the home gym
does the thing to hold your feet in while doing decline bench get in the way when your doing normal flat or shoulder press and can you take it off or no?
I picked this up around Black Friday, I’m really enjoying it and really enjoy the grip of the vinyl. The pins in the seat are actually pretty nice when you get used to them, they give a weird amount of variety to how you set up the roller.
Fair and in-depth review. I wanted decline which is why I chose it over their other options. I got zero issues with the pins. They stay in the bench no reason to leave them out. Overall with build quality, decline option and price this is fantastic value. I got the matte black version. The vinyl does look like smudges and marks show so won't look as clean after a few uses but long as it doesn't rip easy I'm good
Just ordered mine. Happy to have found you guys. I really appreciate the pros and cons being reviewed. And anything that allows me to not buy cheap Amazon knock-offs is a plus. New fan!
Great review, as always. I will mention, while I don't put my bench away often, when I do have guests and need to tuck the bench in a closet / garage, I'll pin the leg roller in a way that is parallel to the ground once flipped with the roller side up. This is very secure due to the weight you mentioned (@ 21:30) at the seat / leg roller area. As for the backrest, I just strap it down using a bungee. Just my trick for anyone looking to store it vertically. Cheers.
That's my main issue going back and forth with getting this bench, I feel def like there is a way I could set it up to store away when I'm trying to move around and do other movements in my small area l. Thanks for the idea! Wish someone made something to help store this one but I haven't found anything yet searching forums, just always am seeing reviews about it, not much else. Maybe one day
Hey coop, I just stumbled upon your site, and am now a subscriber. I like the way you took the time to really review the AB-3000. It looks like a great bench, but is there any bench you recommend or reviewed with a leg extension? If so let me know, thanks.
I just realized yall flat bench differently than me and that's why I've never cared about the "gap" My butt is always on the seat...so when flat benching my arch skips over the gap and I literally never feel it no matter what bench I use.
The reason for two pins on the leg piece is you can place one above the extension and one at an area below it to make it easier to find with your feet, if you have bigger calves, it makes easier to lock your legs under the pads without having to reach too far back to hook your legs. Then as you decline it will then stop at the top pin.
Hey Coop! Any chance you guys could start reviewing other types of equipment ? Things like home machines, like titan legpress/hacksquat combo, powertec lever gym, ect?
I wish REP would work out cheaper shipping options for us Canadian citizens. Sure, a $450 bench isn't bad, but then they tack on $220 shipping, and it quickly becomes a no-go.
I feel you...but Im afraid they cant do much...customs fee are a pain and inevitable...also our taxes are insane...im in Quebec province...its even worst. I ordered a bench from Irwin Fitness...500$ for taxes and shipping...within Canada!
I've been thinking about the standup feature, I'd like to see Rep give us a fitting to add a standup feature, something that attached to the two top bolt holes of the back pad. If not Rep, someone should
I got this bench as my 1st in home bench and I've really been enjoying it I was able to save even more as I live near their wear house in PA and could just go pick it up - it's high quality - me being in the metal fabrication business the welds are good quality which was nice to see - as a beginner in weight lifting the things you mentioned about the pad gap I didn't even notice to be honest- I also don't know what the 2 extra pin holes are for I just assumed pin storage? But who knows - great review!
I bought the version one years ago after your video. I want you upgrade to the AB4000, but still can't justify spending money on something that I already have. It's still a great bench, and does everything I needed to accept, stand up and be regulation height.
Just pulled the trigger on this guy. Decline is important to me since my trainer always puts it in my second push day of the week. No brainer at the price.
I have the version 2 of the FID and my complaints of that one is there is no rubber on the foot plates. So it is slippery when i place that in my rack as my rack has a platform on it. So I have to plant DBS behind it so it doesn’t shift. I think i bought the bench for $180. Really nice bench otherwise. I use the decline for leg raises and decline sit-up options. Vinyl is awesome. A little shaky and big butt pad is awkward doing incline db bench getting on there. I use a dedicated flat bench for bench press. I love that they made an adjustable feature for the leg rollers. That’s smart. The old one i had to add a lever bolt to make it easier to adjust. The old bench has a contoured narrowing at the very top of the bench so for chest supported rows or spider curls it gives a bit more room. Compared to the rogue adjustable and Sorinex adjustable its a bit lighter.
Having the number for the degrees engraved on is a cool addition. It would be great to stop bringing my protractor into my home gym! Haha great review!
Just got mine delivered today in red. Dang, this thing is a tank. A little lower to the ground than I thought it would be, but it should work great since the seat pad is adjustable.
One thing that would help Coop with the leg roller is use the pin as a limiter. Don't insert it in line with the leg roller hole, just set it where you want the leg roller to stop. Then when you're not using it it swings out of the way, and when you use it or pick up the bench it goes to a good angle.
I just received mine today. This is an incredible bench. The details are well thought out with great craftsmanship. I had to install the seat pad bench so the narrower end is in the front or I couldn’t comfortably use the rollers. The texture of the vinyl is very nice. Gotta think this will stay pretty pristine. The pad gap doesn’t affect me as I’m 5’-5”. It could be reduced by about 1/2” though and it would still go up and down perfectly. I really like the 85 degree at the top. Just right. A little more decline would be nice but at least it has decline. I like that. It’s heavy for sure but I don’t think it’s too heavy to move around easily. The tolerances on the bench pads is crazy. You have to keep the bolts loose until you get them all in place before tightening. Only two dings for me. I think the top is just a little too stiff. Especially for home use. Maybe in a gym with tons of use this would be more important for long term durability. And if there were some steel bits on top of the upper bench pad at at the wheels it could be stored vertically without scuffing up the pad or marking up your floor. I got the white version. It is gorgeous. Great job #REPfitness
Is it normal to have some amount of play on the bench when doing decline sit ups ? I feel like because of the pop pin system there is slight play with the seat pad when doing sit-ups
I was looking for this review from you before I pulled the trigger and bought this bench a couple weeks ago. Glad I took the chance even though there weren’t many reviews out. I’ve since set it up and started using it and the bench is high quality and an awesome value for the price. I got the red to match my Omni rack and it’s a beautiful set up in my home gym
I think i just found my new bench. I like the fact that the back pad is shorter. I like to do incline tricep extensions and the pad on taller benches gets in the way. As far as the pins go, just don't pull them out and set them somewhere. They should always be in the holes except to adjust. I love the channel and your reviews
Good day, I just started to recently watch your videos and they are fantastic!!! Love all the reviews and everything. Just had a quick question, with all the gym equipment you get for reviews do you ever do giveaways for subscribers? Thanks and keep killing it
Thank you so much for your reviews I fought the urge to buy a bench on Amazon and just purchased this. I made the decision after watching this review and then seeing people selling their used benches that look like ass and worn down after two years. Buy once cry once!!
I got this exact bench in red for Christmas and i was so pumped. Its so solid and the grip of the bench padding is the best part because it locks me in so well on bench. My only issue is its big and annoying to move around cuz my home gym is small. Its basically like wheeling a dolly with a giant grandfather clock on it. Otherwise it does everything i need and does it better than my old bench and i was hyped to see a review talking about how awesome it is cuz i train with it daily.
Looks like it's been about two months now since you ordered the Griffin FID bench. How do you like the Griffin? I've been thinking about it or the Griffin adjustable bench.
So, when does the AB-3000 3.0 come out that includes a "stand up feature," doesn't have a gaping gap pad or a very losable loose pin, and isn't ugly? lol
Do you know if the 3000 2.0 has as much support as the 3100? I noticed that the 3100 had that post in the back to support the pad but I like what the 3000 2.0 offers more than the 3100 so wanted to know if you knew anything as far as which one had better support or if they’re the same.
I use this bench every day and your cons are generic and misguided. If you’re just doing a review for content (which you are) it’s easy to point out the weight and maneuverability. However, if you actually used the bench you would know that’s not a valid complaint. I move this bench around multiple times during my workout. There is no issue with the weight or the handle. Often times I use the rollers as handle for easier maneuverability. I think this was a review for reviews sake and it’s a little disappointing. This bench is great.
I currently have the FB-5000 and love it, but have no adjustable bench. Want the ability to do incline workand am considering picking this up and selling the FB-5000 (for both space reasons, as well as money), but can't decvide if I'll regret it. Thoughts?
I tend to throw a 45lb bumper plate under the footer when doing decline if the decline isn’t steep enough. It’s solid enough if you use a full size plate and a rubberized plate so it doesn’t slip much
Costa so damn much, are there any other good benches that aren't an arm and leg? I understand you wanna buy good quality for safety but damn this ain't cheap lol
Hey coop what's you opinion on the Bowflex 5.1s if I can get it for $200. I want a bench that can easily stand up and not sure if I want to spend the $200 extra for the ab4100 since I'm on a budget. This seems like the only other bench that can be stood vertical.
Really debating between this dude and the 4100. Don't do much decline, so it might be worthwhile to go up to the 4100 as $80 isn't a huge difference all things considered.
`Actually, the leg feature is what sold me on this bench. I almost bought the version before it, but I'm glad I waited. My pet peeve was the leg piece, because it just flopped up and down. Homerun with this new design, along with all the other upgrades. I bought it a week ago in the red. Good video - her name will be Christine :)
I have a similar style bench, mostly the front pad is the same shape. The way mine is made because of the rounded cushion underneath the steel frame can't go to the end. The company put a piece of wood inside for support. On my bench that piece of wood snapped, now the front of the bench just bends so much it is useless. I was looking at this as a replacement, will it have the same problem?
I just got this bench not only for decline movements and incline sit-ups but also to keep my feet secured along with the leg rollers while doing lat pull downs.
Hey Coop. What's the watch you're wearing. Looks good! Great bench review too. I got myself one of these and am very pleased with its solid construction.
Hey Coop, have you come across any home gym friendly stair steppers/ stairmasters? My job requires a ton of hiking, so it's my preferred conditioning tool.
Thanks for your honest opinions and reviews on home gym equipment. Just picked up the mx select dumbbells set and AB-3000 2.0 per your recommendation. I used your links hope that $ help support your channel❗ I appreciate your efforts 👌 💪
I got that bench. Only thing I don't like is the foot pads. They get in the way for me. I removed that part. Now that I know that. Next bench won't include that but good solid bench.
Don't need decline but was looking at this because the 3100 starts the decline at 30 degrees rather than 15. But don't need those leg rollers. May need to get the 4100, even though it is $400.
I hate wide seat pads. I much prefer using a leg attachment with knee rollers for decline like some other benches. And you can see this bench puts his butt right in the crack during decline. I don't think this is a great design.
What if you could replace the bolt on the rollers with the extra pin and then if you want to completely remove the rollers to get it out of the way you just have to pull the pin and when you want to use it you just put the pin back in.
2 years ago I bought an ajustable bench from Walmart, it claims it can hold 1000 lbs. You should do a review of it! "BalanceFrom FID Heavy Duty Adjustable and Foldable Utility Weight Bench" the monster edition is what I have, $285. I'm curious on what you think about it.
I like the gap! I have an irregular tail bone so the gap is prefect for me! Also don't sit behind the gap sit in front of the gap and you will never feel it!!
I picked up the AB 3000 1.0. For about 260. I like the chrome look and I didn't really care about the pin that the 2.0 has for the legs The gap is not a problem because I have the rep Flat bench already.
Bought this bench in the red. Not crazy about the feel of the foot/leg pads when extended, but it is a good solid bench. Because of the build quality I won’t need to buy another bench, but I am eyeing that AB-5200 💪🏼 I also just bought the rogue Ohio power bar in full stainless steel. It arrives Tuesday and I can’t wait to start using it.
