Wow you really sum it up exactly how I feel. You do a great job reviewing these games and really make me feel like I know what I'm getting before I get it. I wouldn't have liked the original because I definitely don't have the time to do it. That being said if I did get together with friends more or I had more time to play I would love to.
@@Nawk32 Well Walkabout Mini Golf has courses based on the movie Labyrinth and Jules Verne books. Imagine if Demeo had campaigns using LOTR or Warhammer etc (or realistically more obscure and cheaper licences).
This game is a slap in the face to demeo fans. Never should have been a whole separate game since it's just demeo with new mechanics. This should have been another game mode or DLC for the original Demeo. It doesn't even have any original design. It's just recycled Demeo. Next. This is just going to split the player base even more and make OG Demeo circle the drain.... Wow thanks.
Only people who didn't actually like the original concept much seem to be waxing lyrical about how great Battles is. Almost every comment from regular players of the original is negative.
@@orionishi6737 I've said it a hundred times while playing with randoms...a few extra books, characters and other new features (my idea would be interactive objects at locations on the map, like levers to operate a drawbridge/trap etc) and the game would become S tier. Not only in VR but it'd be an absolute classic in the gaming world. What could have been
not a fan of separate games either but, a slap in the face really? they made the barrier to entry easier, since you don't need to buy Demeo then the DLC
Please Meta, Hasbro, and Parker Brothers… Demeo has shown the future of tabletop boardgames is here *NOW*! Can’t wait for a *slightly* evolved version of all those classic board games we played growing up, using just a few (or even just one) video game mechanics *optionally* available. I’d happily part with my hard earned money for this. Just sayin’…
@@Rammvis I know, right!? I’ve said to the point of being a spammer, but I’ll say it again. Imagine Risk or Axis & Allies, still the same core games, but in MR, and now because everyone has the ability to have a unique view of the common board/map, you can now have Fog of War as a mechanic. Something only games like StarCraft or Civilization had.
I imagined this game a little differently. The map is too small, the fire starts quite early. It was supposed to keep the system from the original demeo game embedded in the world of demeo battle. The game is a great idea, but the execution is a bit disappointing. So is the original demeo game, where a new adventure is waiting for a year. I'm sorry to have to write this because I love the game here
They have explained that the decision to not make a DLC was to increase the number of players. If it was a DLC you had to have Demeo and this could hinder the player base.
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 but with the DLC strategy the entry point would be higher, despite the price being the same. With the new game with a fair price more people can play Demeo spending less.
I just picked up Battles. I finished the tutorial, but can not start a game as ALL levels are locked? Even the first level 'Rat Infestation'. How do I start a single player game?
Hey i know it says 2 v 2. But does it mean me just controlling 2 characters vs another person controlling 2 characters or can i play with another friend vs 2 other friends or randoms ?
I'm very picky with the games I buy but I couldn't pass up demeo battles after I heard you speak so highly of the original. So far I am not great at the game but I played online with my stepson last night and we had fun. It looks amazing on the Quest 3 in MR
If it was a DLC then I would have to own the original game. In my case I own original game on my PC but not on my Quest 3. I am very glad this is a standalone so that I can just purchase the Quest 3 version and not have to buy original + DLC on Quest. Since it is priced as a DLC, it should only be commended for being standalone to give us that flexibility.
Yeah but it's going to make Demeo playerbase get split up. It'll be the hot new thing for a moment and then both will start floundering. Plenty of other games add new game modes for free. Splitting up your player base is never a good idea.
@@orionishi6737 Yes, that's a good point. I think they should eventually make Demeo Battles Free2Play to maintain a healthy player base, and monetize it in a different way (they have to make money!).
@@Gamingwithmatteo311 It's still infinitely more fun playing a full co-op campaign in Demeo. Battles is fun, but it does not give you anywhere near the buzz you get when beating a boss with friends.
my opinion, I have friends that fefund Demeo because was too much as a commitment as you said, they soon understood that they don't have the time or the willingness to stay in VR for this long, Demeo Battles is a middle ground, the best of the two words, amazing gaming style and shorter sessions... right now they can just buy the Battle without the need to pay for the rest of the game, something not possible if it was a DLC
I have the same issue with Quest 3 recordings. It seems like the action is always out of frame. I think I'm mostly looking at the bottom section of the lens which is outside of the recording. They need an option to choose the recording window placement or field of view for the recordings.
When you record in quest at 1920x1080, it actually only captures the top half of your field of view. Which is really stupid. I wish they'd let you adjust it or at least put it in the middle.
I've seen a few vr ambassadors claim it's better than the original.. thing is none of them are regular players, so with respect if you haven't learned to play at a decent level on the original how can you claim Battles is superior? I guarantee the majority of experienced Demeo players would say the original has a far better balance to it.
@@Gamingwithmatteo311They can do whatever they want, it's their game! I'm merely pointing out that the vast majority of people (both regulars and newbies) I speak to while playing Demeo would have preferred expansions to the base game. I hope the company does well with Battles, it's going to be a flash in the pan experience for those that buy it.
@VooDooMaGicMan81 I'm not shilling, this isn't sponsored what you don't understand is you experience is just anecdotal. It doesn't represent reality. They have a huge amount of stats at their disposal. They focused on what people loved about demeo and what turned them away and developed a new title with a larger appeal.
The last thing VR needs is more arcade type experiences. The games are only too long for you personally, it's not a fault with the game. I only play the Rat King level these days since others are super easy. Usually complete that multiple times in a day. An actual board game would take twice as long to set up and complete.
Too bad for you, i play everyday for 2-3 hours and is great. LvL 33 in 3 weeks. You probably do not like ANY board game in general then. Most of the RPG / Board games i played in real like takes 2 hours to finish.
