Gotta go with Terra - Something about defending humanities homeworld is just extremely compelling in all Sci-Fi settings. Really looking forward to seeing your upcoming Horus Heresy campaign!
My favorite battle field in the Heresy has got to be Tallarn, reading that omnibus full of massive armor battles through the virus bombed ruins of a once mighty imperial world was what got me interested in making a guard army.
Holy Terra is of course the best location, specifically the throne room where Malcador gave his everything so the emperor could survive on the Golden Throne.
I have to say Macragge. I just love fortresses on top of mountains, it’s just such a medieval thing so it fits super well into the grim darkness of the far future. Plus, the idea of pushing some traitor space marines up a mountain path to invade a huge castle sounds epic.
Favourite battlefield is definitely Istvaan III. Managed to convince all my 9th friends to make HH armies, so I am excited to never have to think about secondary objectives again.
I think we can all agree that secondaries and stratagems can die a long a painful death. Excellent choice Istvaan III easily makes my top five! FOR THE LUNA WOLVES!
Could use tempest of war cards so you do t actually select secondaries, that is what I am going to do, or open war cards so secondaries aren’t even a thing :-)
@@Zorpazorp Personally, I don't think Secondaries are a bad idea. Just, you know, there should probably only ever be one of them per player per game. Not juggling three of them, plus whatever mission-specific "Tertiary" objective you have with the latest rules supplement. Between that and Stratagems, 9th edition is just too damn complicated.
See now this is a really difficult question for me! On one hand I really love Signus Prime, the whole idea of this entire Hive City turned abandoned, with demonic forces manipulating the actual infrastructure to its whims really got me excited! On the other hand however, I've recently been listening to Pharos, and the idea of the assault on the mountain, leading into tight tunnel fighting between legions, a mix between the Shattered Legions & Ultramar's finest mortal troops facing off against the might of the 8th really spoke to me!
My favorite heresy location is Prospero just because I’m a massive Thousand Sons fan and can’t wait to finally get the chance to paint some nice shiny red armor.
I must say, the Mega Display is... something else. It's incredible, and it takes my breath away every time I see it. On the foam flock smoke, I think I saw it featured in a White Dwarf or something, many years ago or maybe from my dad and his railway model group. It's certainly something that's been in my toolbox for some time now. My intent was to make some exhaust plumes for my knights and admech vehicles, and to do some oil drum fires for scatter
At this point I am convinced that you have some epic dirt on your “friends”. You must have some pretty damning evidence against them where a name drop means it’s their time to serve. Keep it up, I am so pump for these builds!
Can't wait for the future of your Lotr scenic tables: I love all your projects, and the last one you introduced, the Mines of Moria, promises to be epic! As for my favourite Horus Heresy location, I should probably go for Istvaan V as it symbolizes the tragic magnitude of the betrayal by Horus, but I also love Pluto, theatre of the battle between the Alpha Legion and the Imperial Fists that culminated in the death of Alpharius (was it him 'tho!) by the hand of Rogal Dorn
I was there when it all began...part of the first generation.. I remember Rogue Trader...Back then the Heresy was little more than a myth, a legend. I was but 12 years old. 1987 and the aeons stretched out before us. I love me some Warhammer and 30K has me dribbling, raving as I was back then, times of yore, It seemed like magic to me, I remember I went weak at the knees...that fateful day when I first discovered the Emperors finest...His angels of death...the Space Marines! I tremble at the thought of your 30K content...Thank you brother...His light be upon you!
I live in the UK, and I've had the fortune to make the pilgrimage to Warhammer World a few times, and I still take time to go through the exhibition. That massive Angelus Prime diorama still takes my breath away each time I see it - there's so many little details, from duels, to standoffs, to small vignettes, and of course the Great Assassin Hunt! Still haven't found the sneaky bastard xD Can't wait to see your boards in their full glory!
Mars is definitely the best world battle-wise and history-wise. I loved the schism of mars and the huge battle that transpired during it. also home to the lovely martian mechanicum and dark mechanicum. as for why I'm excited about the new boxset and edition, I love me some beakies. I always loved their helmets and armors' clean-cut looks.
Favourite location has got to be Terra, mostly due to the "holy sh*t" feeling I get when I imagine the pure scale of the Siege, and the intense city fighting and siege warfare gameplay that can be done with the planet as a setting for a gaming table.
My favourite Heresy location is Mars, the war between the Imperial Fists and the Heretic Mechanicum. Mars is a cool location anyway, but just imagine Space Marines fighting the strangest and most terrifying cyborgs and robots the Dark Mechanicum can devise! What I'm most excited about with a new edition of the Horus Heresy is all the new players it's going to bring in. What I REALLY LOVE about the Horus Heresy as a hobby is the uniqueness and individuality of everyone's armies and collections. The more people who collect, paint and play in the Heresy setting, the more cool models, conversions, kit-bashes and paint jobs we're going to see.
Istvaan and the dropsite massacre that ensued, it was where the first huge act of Heresy began and brought legions to their knees, primarchs fell. The point of no return, and in the future had an absolutely legendary encounter between a Dreadnought Rylanor and his Primarch Fulgrim. Lots of history for the heresy there especially Istvaan V where the massacre took place.
Hydra Cordatus - Storm of Iron iis my favourite 40k novel and the fact that they went back to it in the Horus Heresy novels and fleshed out even more of the history of the characters (many the same character) featuring in both makes it something special!
Terra. As many others have said here, there's just something special about humanity defending their home. Additionally, it lets you recreate Magnus breaking the Emperor's warp gate project and allowing untold numbers of daemons loose in the imperial palace. XD
Having recently been researching my Adeptus Titanicus legion - the Legio Vulturum. The Defence of Ryza has to be some of the coolest sounding battles in the whole of the Heresy
The Stategium of the Vengeful Spirit. To see such a richly details environment in miniature would be amazing. Capturing the spirit and heart of the Great Crusade before the onset of the Heresy. A dream lost to ambition.
Istvaan III where the heresy officially started is without a doubt my favorit location. The beautiful city in ruins, brothers versus brothers, fathers against sons, the sting of betrayal and the desperat last stand of the loyalist, perfect. Plastic 30k tanks... I WANT YOU!
ok have to agree with terra as it is the place where the war was decided with heavy losses on both sides that affected the setting to this day (it was also where some of my favorite characters met there end
As a Dark Angels player, my favourite heresy location has to be Caliban where the Dark Angels really sealed their own fate for the next 10,000 years. Honestly the most exciting thing about the new heresy edition is all the cool new plastic kits for things like Dreadnoughts and vehicles. That new leviathan revealed yesterday especially!
My favorite battlefield has to be Prospero (Tizca specifically, since the rest of the planet is literally uninhabitable). The shining city on a hill being laid low by the uncivilized barbarian horde is a tale as old as civilization, and the added layers of hypocrisy from Russ's Legion's blatant violation of the Edict of Nikaea while pillaging the home of the Thousand Sons for the same is just *chef's kiss*.
I've just started up a slow grow campaign with my mates so it's a bit cheezy but gotta say the custom forgeworld of Iander. Sides were 2 x Dark Angels and Ultramarines vs. Death Guard, Night Lords and Dark Mechanicum so themed it as a Forge World bordering Ultramar with a hidden webway gate through the Malestrom. Used your tutorials on how to make a Martian/Geonosian like board to build the main board and theme the other ones with scatter.
Prospero, I just love the idea of The Emperor's Wolves being manipulated into destroying The Thousand Sons home world and the whole last defense organized by the marines, then the dual between Magnus and Leman... just....*perfection* I'm looking forward to battling space marines on space marines in giant armies and battfields(and probably spending WAY too much money on them.)
Not an often talked about location or battle, but the simply named Battle of Pluto holds special fascination to me. Of course, image of the battle are dominated by the duel between Rogal Dorn and Alpharius. However, what captures my imagination are the beautiful contrasts in the scene. You have the normal 40K play between gothic cathedral like architecture and sci-fi industrial, but then you have these enormous panoramic windows that open up onto the worlds icy crags, all backdropped against deep space and the planets of our solar system. There is a cold, clean sterility to it all.
Prospero is up there in favorite heresy locations. Magnus, Russ, Khan, and Mortarion all touched this world, and sometimes a conversation is just as good as a battle
The archtraitors flagship has got to be the most epic place of the whole heresy. The death of Sanguinius, the clash between Horus and the Emperor. That is the place where history was made.
Probably the Istvan Drop Site Massacre, it was such a big turning point in the heresy and was one of my favorite moments to hear about. It could be an awesome setting for a campaign, as most of the Legions were there, so there's a lot of leeway for creativity.
As a Wordbearers collector, Calth is my favourite setting (got to enjoy seeing some revenge for monarchia!), Beta-garmin also gets a strong mention because of the titan insanity! Your campaign looks super exciting, can't wait!
Favourite Heresy location has got to be Pluto. Primarchs fighting on everyones favourite little planet? Yes please. Excited for better faster dreadnoughts!
Love the vid! My favorite location of the heresy is definitely the war in the webway where the custodes stand. Theirs is the vigil that must never end!
Being someone who started with Rogue Trader back in the late 80s, I am amazed at the talent displayed by so many. GW has improved exponentially, and yet even the average player/builder has improved with them. So much talent out there
The INSANE Horus Heresy campaign is now LIVE: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4ApTYZYX97Y.html If you want to see more of the trip to Warhammer World click here for SHENANIGANS: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-14fIk41zvi0.html Who is #HARDFORHERESY?
My favorite battlefield is such a toss up between Terra itself and Istvaan V. Both iconic scenes, where the Heresy began and where the final blow was struck against both the Imperium and the traitors.
Segmentum Tempestus. If it was not for the ultramarines being sent out there, Horus would of had so much trouble with his conquest. I'm looking forward to the new boxes. a 2k army or so that I can teach to others and begin a new chapter with.
I think I have to mirror a lot of other votes and put my favourite down as Istvaan V. So much story, so much raw emotions and so much begins and ends on that blood soaked planet that it echoes back onto the earliest moments of the heresy and long after its end. Reason #3 for being excited for HH is that myself and others are already eagerly setting down plans for running our own series of campaigns and narrative stories in the Age of Darkness.
My god, what a wonder! I'm going to watch this video again and again (and I'm now 100% convinced I must visit Warhammer World in the near future). As for my favorite location: the obvious answer would be Tallarn, but I loved Prospero Burns by Dan Abnett and I always thought Prospero is one of the most interesting places in 40k. The diorama you've shown in this vid further reinforce my idea!
Oh man! Quality Terrain sets all around, I can’t wait to see the campaign start in the coming weeks and see the full reveal of each battlefield. Keep up the incredible work!!! So excited! Also: “of course, it’s a Zorpazorp board, what did you expect” - catch phrase for the next video? 😆
Perturabo's maze is one of my favorite horus heresy locations. The play between someone who can never die and someone who desperately wants to break and kill him using an impossible maze is just really really good.
The burning of prospero is my all time favourite battle in Warhammer. I'm looking forward to the new edition so my dad and I can spend a weekend building, painting and playing the box set together
I don't know if it counts as a battlefield on its own or if it's an extension of the battle for Terra, but the final attack aboard the Vengeful Spirit is probably my favorites. Locations from the various versions of Space Hulk, from cramped hallways to massive control rooms, have always been great and the idea of playing through a similar environment, just with Chaos instead of genestealers, is really appealing.
Gotta love the siege of terra Earths last stand type things always get me hype. I'm super excited to see the campaign you guys have put together and the heresy has always been a favorite setting of mine so this should be awesome.
I love how the exhibition does Prospero so I have to chose there as my location and I am so excited for the new models that will come out in a slightly different style to general 40k
Mine is terra as it is where the greatest sorrow occurs with the interment of the emperor and many other amazing moments, as well as the many factions which call it home. Also the fact that it holds so many lost and forgotten secrets hidden under its scard surface that could lead to either humanity's salvation or its destruction...
The Planet known Murder (featured in the Fulgrim novel) is probably my favourite, it's an evocative name, weird alien plants and gribbly beasts and would be a fun gameboard to make complete with classic spiky fungal plant things!
One of my favourite battlegrounds of the Heresy has to be the Pharos Beacon in Ultramar, something pretty cool about an ancient teleportation device that no one understands being the central point of a battle. As for why I'm looking forwards to the new rule set, it's gotta be the new kits and finally, pickable Warlord Traits, something I've wanted for a long time!
Calth is my favourite location in the heresy, it is where the true nature of chaos is revealed to the unsuspecting imperium. Word Bearers are my favourite faction so that helps!
My favorite location within the heresy would be Holy Terra, for a multitude of things happend but most of all the first templar was reborn. Another reason why I love this is becuase it is a great way to get into HH without needing to sell an organ.
Favorite Horus Heresy location has to be Prospero. A glittering beacon of enlightenment in Tizca hiding terrible secrets just at the edge of perception, much like the Thousand Sons themselves.
My favourite Battlefield has to be Istvaan III, where it all began. The stand in the palace, the scramble to eliminate the loyalists, most tense read ever! I am most excited for the new edition, because it gives me an excuse to start an army in a new system (it's all about tricking your own brain is it not? ;) )!
My favourite battle is the drop site massacre on istvaan v, battle was absolutely brutal and ma boi Ferris got game ended, I just love the fact that the loyalists all thought to be on the same team to be literally butt $#%# by everywhere and the other chapters, one of the coolest in my opinion, loved the video to man super hyped.
Hah... I don't want to be rude but, that white alabaster one GW did was uh... like... that one crushed your guys' board, that baord is INSANITY. GW nailed it... it looked amazing.
My favorite battlefield is the Battle of the Perfect fortress on the planet of Narsis Built by Fulgrim and the Emperors children(My favorite chapter) It was meant yo withstand any assault with the population acting as a militia should the fort be attacked. The imperial Army took heavy casualities in their Assault, However it was just a bait. When the Self-reliant Emperor’s children left the fortress to wipe out the retreating attackers, they were wiped out themselves by a surprise attack from the Raven guard. The loyalist forces took the fortess without any civilian loses after that. Edit: I have subscribed and liked the Video, If i win i get a force to fight my massive Space wolf army. Thats Why i am excited
My favorite location in the Heresy is Ark Reach Secundus. The silver archetecture in the mountain peaks made for some really beautiful descriptions from Graham McNeill. I liked the visual of the Avenian hawk riders so much that I almost made a small army using Craftworld rules and wood elf eagle riders a few years ago. Sadly didn't go through with it.
My favourite location in hh is Prospero because of the architecture, and I am excited for the new edition because it means that this hobby won't be neglected as much.
Great content! This Campaign series will be ace if the teases are anything to go by! My favourite Battleground is Istvaan 3 - the stories of heartbreak as your Father and Brothers virus bomb you and the duel between Loken and Abaddon!
The best battle location is of course Terra. The betrayal leading up to it makes it even more dire and the fight all the way into the emperor’s palace is awesome. Looking forward to this 2nd edition of the Horus Heresy as the minis look great and the rules and game play look balanced and streamlined, can’t wait!
My favorite location in heresy has to be the Palace at Terra. It hosts the most tragic events as the imperial cult starts to assert itself while demigods duel around the mortal survivors. It's cool to see the birth of an idea in the novels. And as the local narrative campaign guy, I can't wait to see what you made for Calth! I'm so going to steal some ideas.
Nice video! The best battle of the heresy was surely the siege of Terra, there was so much stuff going and also I love Sigismund, and on Terra he gave all of himself!
Still reading up on the Horus heresy but my favorite has probably got to be prospero where the space wolves and thousand sons battled it out. Can’t wait to see this new campaign, so far it looks like it’s gonna be great!
I've only ever been in the Assassin hunt room while hungover, and even though all I wanted to do was crawl under the table and sleep, I still took the time for a serious look, both times.
Favourite location during the heresy, I think, has to be the Vengeful Spirit. So much happens there, far from the least of which is the death of Sanguinius and the final showdown between the Emperor and Horus. I think it also in some way reflects the changes of the Luna Wolves and their fall alongside their beloved Lupercal. Where once we saw noble warship, one of the greatest in the galaxy and home to Garviel Loken and his brothers, we now see a terrible, corrupted spear, aimed at the heart of the Imperium
Tallarn is a cool place in the heresy, I love the fact that the Iron Warriors absolutely annihilated it and we see the effects of that in Tallarn's 40k appearance! It's always so fun to see things like that in games.
Istvaan III is too good. The fighting across the city, the titan battening down the hatches for virus bombs, followed by the defence and eventual betrayal. So many iconic scenes with some of the greatest characters of the Heresy books
