Good video. Ms Lori I’m so excited. I loved that you reached out to me about pollinator flowers. I went to Walmart today and they had a whole slew of perennials in the trash in the back of the flower section. Several pollinators I went to customer service and asked if I could have them for free. The a day was sure, take what you want. They were not dead. Just needed water and a little love. I got 23 different plants. All planted and doing great. The Lord provides in a mighty way.
I love okra, my favorite way to freeze it is fry, lay on paper Towels to drain and vacuum seal.. I just cut the bag open and reheat, so far it's been great...
I live in Wisconsin. My only experience with okra was 60 years ago, Mom bought a can of it and warmed it up for supper. I remember her pulling a piece and remarking something about the slime. We never saw it again! I've always wanted to figure out how to do it right--starting with not buying it in a can! Thanks for getting me there. Now to find some...❤ Thanks Lady!
My mom love jalapeno poppers. I make jalapeno poppers for parties and my mom. But, I use sausage, cream cheese and other ingredients then wrap in bacon and sprinkle a bit of brown sugar. I can't eat jalapenos much so I also use this mix to stuff mini sweet bell peppers. The recipe is going in my cookbook.
I usually pickle my okra. I would have to plant our entire garden in okra & I doubt it would still be enough to pickle enough okra for my family. They can go through a pint jar each in one sitting.
I love breaded fried okra. I also throw a handful of plain sliced okra in the pot when cooking spaghetti. It will never stick together. Yummy. Blessings from Texas. 🙏🏻💖🙏🏻
I love okra and have been trying to grow it for the last two years, and I've gotten two pods. I ain't done trying yet. I've got a few plants in the ground this year. If I can't grow them here in N. Idaho I can still buy them.
I love okra! I fry it for dinner, but I also munch it raw when I'm harvesting it from the garden. Thank You for giving us the tip of not thawing the okra before frying it, Miss Lori. That's a tip that I will remember, God Bless You Always.🛐❤️✝️❤️🤗 I hope that you all have a Happy and Safe Independence Day, too! ❤️🤗
I've never eat it I can't get passed the wetness 😂 I found a family on utube true grit Appalachian Ways they are a young family that raises hogs, chicken's , milk cows, the mom reminds me of how i think you all lived back in the day. I hope you'll give them a look. I just love watching anyone living a simple life. 🥰😍
LOVE FRIED OKRA...DON'T EAT IT BOILED BUT DO LIKE THE FLAVOR IT ADDS BOILING IT IN PEAS OR BUTTER BEANS ....THANKS MS LORI AND HAPPY 4TH TO YOU AND MR BROWN
💜💜💜💜💜💜 okra!!!!! I love it any way it comes but my favorite way is to boil it, (my mom called it snotty okra 🤣😂) and put that on top of a baked potato for dinner….. sometimes I mix it with squash or green beans over a baked potato…… oh man! I’m gettin hungry just thinking about it 💜😋💜😋. Thanks for this video and recipe! Looks like I’ll be frying some okra soon 😋😋😋
Happy Wednesday to you and Mr. Brown! Shout out from pastor Brian and Nancy from Easley SC! Our church is celebrating the 4th tonight! Thank you for the video! We are having food and fireworks so I’m excited to see your dessert video! We love y’all and tell everyone to join in watching y’all! We love y’all!
i just needed to say thank you so much for your simple okra mixture. I feel so confident that when I DO fry it, it will be great .... thank you from a beginner cook at the age of...........67....( not kidding)
Love fried okra!!! But I am with Mr Brown-- do not like the woody pieces. And it's disappointing when you buy because I don't grow any- and 1/2 of the bag is tough!!
I'm looking forward to your gumbo recipe! My okra is coming along in the garden. Hopefully, I get a lot this year! My husband's grandmother and I used to eat a whole quart of pickled okra ❤ She was from Arkansas.
Thank you for the video! We are growing okra for the first time, and want to be able to enjoy them all year. We will definitely freeze it your way. We wanted to know if you before cutting and breading, Please let me know! Also, thank you for the video on how to make cinnamon rolls. I have made them many times. They're Delicious!! Thank you and Happy 4th of July!
It fries-up crunchy, you say? I quite freezing okra because it degraded the cell structure making it soggy tasting and feel. If what you say is true, this recipe is a Godsend because I love crunchy fried okra, squash, and potato. Thanks, cr
I have had my share and somebody else's of okra this week with it coming in...I'm libel to slide right out of this bed if i don't slow down! Frozen is good, but nothing's better than fresh! I like mine just cooked slow in a cast iron skillet with a little bacon grease or EVOO til it's tender, then a little salt and pepper at the end. My goodness, it's good eatin'!
So wish you would rework your loaded Cowboy beans from a family video several years ago so that it feeds only 3 or 4! That recipe and cornbread would make my day!
My Dad loved his Mother's wilted lettuce. I think it's simple but can you make that for us. My Mom also made Bread N Tomatoes. It was stewed tomatoes with torn bread and maybe some milk and butter. Simmered together. Could you share if you have the recipes?
Please show us how to make gumbo - I have Star of David okra in the garden - mostly for novelty because I do not care for it except as a child I did eat okra dill pickles - but in the soup I could - my arms break out immediately when picking okra - but . . . I carry on lol
I love fried okra. Will definitely have my husband plant some in garden next year. Will be looking forward to your gumbo recipe in future. I know i can get husband to eat that. I don’t think he has ever tried fried okra.😅
Miss Laurie every time I watch your videos I see those chocolate cookies in the beginning. Have you done a video on making them or posted a recipe? I love them and would like to know how to make them! Thx.
I would always use egg to dip my okra in for battering; then, I heard about using buttermilk, and oh, is it good! I now can save my eggs for better uses.
What a great couple of recipes! I wonder if you are using a Nadapeno Pepper? I am growing those for the first time and they are supposed to have the flavor of a jalapeno without the heat.
Good morning. I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate this video. We always have an abundance of okra. My husband doesn't understand it's only the 2 of us now. We eat fried okra until we are sick of it. I usually can pickled okra. I stopped freezing it because I always let it thaw, and it's always a slimy mess. I watched this video, and I was amazed I didn't know to fry it frozen. 🤦♀️ I've wasted so much okra over the years. Since I watched this video, I've filled 3 ziplock bags with frozen okra. I can't thank you enough. Now we can eat frozen okra in the winter. Thanks again..
God bless you , Mrs .lori I absolutely love okra, Doug not to much , but I make it often for my son & granddaughters, The jalapeños poppers We love , great idea with the chicken ❤️ Im gonna try that yum 😋 Love j Texas
I love fresh garden vegetables and okra is one of my favorites. I always have some in my freezer. I could load my plate down with nothing but vegetables, they are delicious and healthy. Yes, please make a video on how you make gumbo. God bless you both. ❤ 🍅🌽🫑🧅🥔🌶🥒🥦🥬🧄
Hi Mr Brown & Mrs Lori have a Blessed 4th of July. "thank you" for sharing all your information to help us understand how to be ready for the unknown. GOD Bless You and your family.💕🙏
Those peppès look delicious. Gathering with the children and grands fir the 4th. Made 10 mini bundt pan size zucchini breads to take. The live in a lake community. The community does aireworks on the lake each year. Have a great week.
Hi Ms Lori, I just want to thank you for sharing this long ago I believe. I started freezing my okra like this since you first set out this video. I love it, love you and Mr Brown. So grateful for all the info. I told one of my daughters how much I enjoy preserving our own food. My dad was a hard working man and farmed most of our food. I know this is to long. Loving the memories you bring. God Bless
I would love to have a pheasant cut up like a chicken and fry it just like I do my chicken. That sounds so good. I love fried okra and that’s the only way I like it. You made it look easy .. I will try that. Thank you for sharing. God bless . ❤🇺🇸🇺🇸
Miss Lorie that sure looks great there !!! Remember deep frying a lot of those in the hospital for Cafe people to eat !!! Jalapeno are great that way !!!
I love fried breaded okra! My Mom could never get enough made because we ate it as quick as she could fry it! Same with fried green tomatoes, I can’t make them as well as she did!
Mrs Lori,I had an older man that worked for stoffers in the lab that taught me about flash freezing my veggies yrs ago .said that's how they freeze vegetables there at the plant before bagging them .that he had been doing it for years on his own veg.you taught me about breading stuff and flash freezing last yr I think maybe 2 yrs ago.God Bless ❤
Thanks Mrs Lori. Can you show us how you fry it? I always feel like I need to nearly fill the pan with oil for my okra and potatoes. I'd love to see how much oil you use.
The jalapeno poppers look really good. I've never had them with chicken, I will try them. My son in law browns sausage then mixes it with cream cheese, cilantro, and green onions then stuffs the jalapenos. HAPPY 4TH!!!
I love fried okra. And those jalapeño poppers look delicious Ms Lori ❤! I'm going my sister's house on the 4th and they look like a perfect appetizer to take 😊 We'll play Skip Bo and Hand and Foot and eat 🎉 😂 Have a fun, safe 4th of July everyone, and God bless
Looking forward to doing my okra this way. I had thought of it on my own, but never tried it. I will be now for sure. I find when I cook jalapenos like this they are not very hot anyway. Thanks Miss Lori.
