The BEST WAY To Get Mending! | Minecraft 1.20 Guide (#41) 

Bedrock hack (might work on Java too idk) for rerolling villager trades: place a sticky piston one block away from the work station and a lever to the piston. Flick the lever and lock onto the station. Every time the piston moves the station, the villager will unlink and relink. Repeat until you get the desired trade.

Two things regarding the farmer villager... You could have locked it in, then move it. It would keep the same trade and go to the new spot of the composter. The other point ... You already had a farmer. The one you use for breeding...

Thank you for the kind words, wattles! Iteration is best as a collaborative process and I'm happy you found some of my ideas useful! For the tedius Mending villager re-rolls, I tend to keep my villager stationary by keeping some slabs around it; bottom slabs at roughly face-height. And java tip, I make two lectures so I can keep one in my offhand and just right-click place, left-click break, rinse, repeat. In a confined space you will automatically pick up the broken lecturn and it will stack with the one in your offhand. Much faster re-rolls. I've even used flowing water at times to force the broken lecturn in my direction if my trading hall doesn't allow me to stand right next to the broken lecturn. Love your content!

I called my Mending librarian Reparo. I also prefer the infinity enchantment over Mending on bows, I just use an anvil to repair my bow.

1.17: Axowatl So my mending villager for 1.20 name is: Crabowatl (crab + wattles)😊 PS: You should build a bubble elevator in a tower glued to the villager breeder. Whif this you can just send them up 30 or so blocks high and then move them from there on a dirt path in a boat to the exact location you need them. That's what I did in my world, I hid the bubble elevator in a nice looking crane, and it's extremely helpfull, especially when your base starts to become a little bit bigger and workstations are all over the base. It's not that long to build eather! You could easily do it as a bonus build in a next episode!

I really appreciated this video, in that it's the only one I could find post-release for 1.20, and was the only one to inform me that the changes that would require me to level a villager to master were STILL experimental. I spent 2 days leveling a bunch of swamp librarians to master, assuming it was going to be a coin flip whether they give me a name tag or a book as their master trade, when really I could have just kept trade cycling.

Bro me spending 80 million hours getting mending in my 1.20 survival world earlier this year and seeing this gave me flashbacks

something i really want brought back because it was a thing for bedrock exclusively but it should have been added to java instead of removed it was possible to trade eggs to farmer villagers for emeralds i feel like since they were rebalancing villager trading then they could have at least given a revamp to farmers because there was a lot of potential there vs just nerfing the librarian and blacksmiths

I have an excellent tactic for you when you're starting out, you only need ONE emerald, basically when you roll mending, price doesn't matter,, hold out your emerald, they'll hold out the mending book, kill them in one hit they drop the book.

It would be great if they added a function, that you could allow and disable blocks that Villagers can use as a workplace, because it's very annoying when a Villager comes to you house and takes one out of your Blast Furnaces

When trading with a villager: after getting the emeralds from one batch of trading press spacebar. The 'whatever you were trading with him' will automatically fill. That way you dont need to press over and over until the trade is locked.

I get all the Mending books I need fishing. But it’s not super fast and just fits into how I play. Probably wouldn’t be fun for others who play differently. But it’s nice to know you can get them that way. Just takes a good fishing rod.

I had spent several hours in my last world trying to get a mending villager and finally settled for 20 emeralds because I felt I was going insane. I did another one to get some protection or something and the first trade was mending for 10. lol I wanted to scream. It's so random. I think in the long run the new system will be much more efficient. We will see I guess. Great video!

OMG! It's been about 3 years since I last played Minecraft, so naturally I watched a few "What's new for returning players" content. Every single video says "Drag villagers to swamp, breed, make librarian and it's guarenteed to give Mending once it's maxed out!" You can imagine my frustration when I saw Name Tags as the Master trade and no mending book. So I gave up and turned on a little Wattles let's play to see this in action. You mean to tell me it's not in the game yet unless you turn it on? BRUH! 😂😂😂 I would have had Mending access Day 1!

You should name the villager Mendles.

I put a fishing spot near my zombie spawner, make sure to open water you cast into to the sky. While you wait for the zombies to queue up you can fish. Then sell cod, salmon to fishing villager. Then you also get flesh. Three things you can sell for emeralds. Eventually you get good fishing rods, then you get bows (water must be open to sky) shells, tropical fish, puffer fish. All of which you can potentially sell. Extra XP from disenchanting rods and bows.

I picked a seed where near my spawn there's a village right next to a swamp. Bred a villager in the swamp and named him "Mr Mendy" for all my Mending needs

I play on bedrock so I’m not sure it’ll work in Java but when moving villagers in a boat, I just throw a lead on it and drag it without having to be in it. It’s much quicker and easier you can move 2 at a time too.

In my 1.20 world the Mending villager that I got sells for 17 emeralds per enchanted book. With frequent trades and the Hero of the Village effect, it's gotten as low as SIX emeralds for me. It was mindnumbing for sure to get there, but I was lucky enough to get "17 emeralds per Mending" on the first time it appeared in his catalogue of sales.

House of Healing As someone who plays Java and Bedrock it always amazes me that Java doesn't have the option to roll the enchantments by pushing the lectern with a sticky piston like Bedrock does. It's painful. That's one Bedrock parity I wouldn't mind coming to Java

In older versions the villager didn't need to have direct contact with the block, it just needed to be in its proximity, I spent like 2 hours trying to figure out why my villager wasn't taking up the job

Quality of Life tip, when trading with a villager that you have multiple stacks to trade with. Tap space in the emerald slot and it will refill the stackable item. U can keep rerolling the villager through the night if you let him claim a bed while he still has a job. Place the bed next to the lectern. When the villager goes to sleep, break the lectern and place it down again. The villager will almost immediately take the job again. If you have to reroll again, just let him lay down again and repeat. ... I feel bad for depriving the villagers of their sleep though...

When the villager trade update hits i think the best method will be to go to the swamp prepared to heal two zombie villagers and start a new village With them.

The best technique I found for finding mending for cheap is using an igloo. Heal the zombie villager, remove the brewing stand, place a bed and put the lectern down until you get the mending trade. You’ll get it for 1 emerald and 1 book.

For Bedrock, just place the lectern on a piston and activate it and deactivate it until you get the trade.

Just because I have the worst luck surviving in minecraft I would like to share how I've died in game lately just becouse I find them ridiculous. 1 polar bear attacked out of no where 2 I accidentally punched a lama while making a stair case they knocked me off and I fell into the ravine 3 a green lazy villager desired to sleep in my bed while I was breaking it. I punched him by mistake. The village golem killed me! 4 I was making a bridge across a river and a drowned harpoon me! 5 I starved to death while mineing becouse I ran out while trying to fight a zombie spawner the rotten flesh didn't help. 😅 6 EVERY SINGLE TIME I spawn or die and respond a ENDERMAN IS ALWAYS right there waiting like a assassin! I love this game I'm just not very good with it, I always play hard or hardcore cause I like hard consequences in survival games. 😅 I will one day fight the ender dragon, so far I have never lived long enough to make a enchantment table. One day I will do it!!

For a name for the mending villager, how about Dr. Strange? He kind of fixes himself with basically magic. The mending book basically fixes your armor and tools with magic. Dr Strange is desperate to find something to fix himself, make himself strong again. That’s what the mending book does in MC, makes your armor and tools stronger in that they can now last forever, if you’re lucky.

There is a easy way to get emralds by void trading (if u dont know about void trading there are many tutorials on youtube ;)

carlos should be his name :) ps you could get a piglin head and put it above the fireplace (their actualy really easy to get you just have to get a creeper in a boat with a lightign rod a couple blocks away, wait, put him in the middle of a lake so he wont destroy blocks, go into the nether get a angry piggy to follow you, get to the otherside, and light him befor the pig can zombfiey {i died when i did it, but you can also just hold up a shield mob heads are honestly pretty easy imo :) })
