Appreciate the video. It's opened my eyes on WIFI routers. Currently have a stock one from my provider and I am thinking that stock is not the way forward.
I used to have drops etc with my previous router... having multiple wireless/wired (switch) connections including various 4k streaming, gaming, iphones/ipads, cameras and more. I got the AX6000 and I have no more issues... and the phone app is a super plus, love it! No more drops, solid, fast and responsive 24/7! Having a nice router is mandatory nowadays!
I'm trying to get a router on a budget. Would the AX3000 be able to handle a Ring Security System, 3 fire sticks, one office computer, a tablet and one gaming rig? I do not feel like paying over $200+ for an AX6000.
Nice lie, it is better to have few, slower router for more range. And those routers don't have all wifi6/ax features. www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-features/33221-what-s-missing-from-your-wi-fi-6-router-ofdma
I got the AX50 to replace my Archer C2 and I got a huge boost even on Wi-Fi 4 Devices. 2.4GHz Wireless-N and 5GHz Wireless-N got boosted. I also bought a new Wi-Fi 6 Wireless Card for my old notebook. There are AX200 and AX3000 Wi-Fi Cards and are worth it. I'm still waiting for more affordable 2.5Gbps Network Equipment.
You'd only want to update your modem if the modem itself can no longer handle or receive the speeds your ISP offers. I'd recommend - if you don't already have one - a modem that can handle gigabit speeds, and then upgrade your WiFi router to something like these 👍🏻
I just installed Motorola MB8600 DOCSOS 3.1 but still using 8year old Linksys router. It works great. Getting faster connected speeds. I don't know what I'm getting with our Android phones and tablets but no drops. Looking into these TP-Link routers. Liking to the AX6000 capabilities (8 ethernet ports) but not the price.
Apache Cai yes that sucks but most you LAC so you can combine two ports to have 2Gbps should your internet support it now or in the future. Also Arris has the WIFI6 AX1000 mesh router to be the fastest mesh routers.
@@TheHoff4K I get you. But I care more about my ethernet speed more than internet. I hardwired my house with CAT7 in order to achieve faster file transfer speed between two desktop (I do a lot of video editing), but now I bottleneck with the LAN port. I know AX11000 is as fast as 10G Lan on paper, but hardwire is always more stable...
I have a BIG set of important questions. Our household is connected currently via Verizon DSL, and it's not very good. There is a cable TV option that folks claim is better, but we're wondering about cellular. We're in a very hilly rural area, but fiber optic is not taking off here. Verizon does not offer FIOS here, and there are apparently no plans to do so. 1: is there a way to create a WiFi 6 home network based on a cellular subscription? We're thinking about dumping Verizon DSL and the landline entirely. That means either doing phone and internet over cable TV or doing cellular. Are there any MiFi-like devices out there that can be plugged into a router like the ones in this video, or are they their own one-stop hot spot? Also, both of our cells are on Tracfone (pay-as-you-go, minutes-based service operating on AT&T / GSM-only towers) that we started using 15 years ago. 2: If we ditched Verizon landline and shifted to cell with a contract, how do we figure out which carrier offers best coverage of our home and what speeds to expect? Cellular is spotty around here, and the towers seem to be carrier-specific. (There's a Verizon Wireless tower on a hilltop a few miles from here, and our Tracfones don't pick up any signal from it.) 3: We have a Dymo label printer and some other USB devices, and an old HP laser printer with Ethernet. If we want to keep using them, are there inexpensive WiFi relays we can plug into these devices that will work with routers like the TPs you review in this video? What do we look for? What search terms? Right now, we have an old Westell DSL modem plugged into our Verizon landline. We strung out Ethernet cable to an Apple Airport base station, which is plugged into those other devices via USB and Ethernet. Thank you for your time and attention.
Wingsley- You should perform a Speed test (Speedtest.com) on your internet connection from a PC connected to your router by an Ethernet cable instead of WiFi. (Wifi is slower) Then bypass the router and connect your PC directly to your router and perform the same Speed test again. This will give you a good idea of your true DSL connection. I am on Spectrum Cable Internet and a while back I found out my router (Linksys AC1500) was causing me a slow down on even the Wired connections. Even though I paid for 100Mbps download speeds, my router couldn't handle more than 70 Mbps DOWN and sometimes no better than 50 Mbps. Your DSL connection may be even a lower speed than mine but if you are getting crappy downloading, it may be your router.
Friends don't let friends have crappy WiFi. Also do you think we have enough antennas?? 😂 --------------------- AX3000: geni.us/iAlJ AX6000: geni.us/ff9A9V AX11000: bit.ly/2s5smRh
Do you know if it’s good for a two story house... I have a mesh wifi from google and upstairs I do not get greats speed but downstairs I do... are any of these routers good or excellent for two story homes ?
Bought AX6000 on a Black Friday deal to replace a 3 year old high end linksys router that was having trouble keeping up since we cut the cord and now usually have one 1080p TV and one 4K TV streaming almost all the time. The old router started to drop all connections a couple of times a day. We have very heavy internet use with a family of 4 running 3 gaming computers, 2 TVs, 1 Echo, 3 Dots, 2 tablets, 4 phones, 1 vacuum cleaner, 1 thermostat and a sprinkler system. The AX6000 was very easy to setup using the mobile app first and then the PC website to tweak a few settings. My son's gaming computer is the only WiFi 6 capable device we were able to test. He had about 200 Mbps before we installed the new router and has 400 Mbps with the new AX6000. 400 Mbps is the maximum speed that we pay for from our internet service provider. All of our other devices showed marked improvement in speeds just not double. The AX6000 has been running great since it was setup a few weeks ago. No problems and no dropped signals.
@@BillAnt And there are barerly any wifi6/ax clients, top ends phone or laptos. Even current router don't have all specifications features www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-features/33221-what-s-missing-from-your-wi-fi-6-router-ofdma
@Nick Burak < In best case scenario about two third of the specs, but on average about half. The router's LAN ports provide the closest spec speeds, while WiFi is a hit and miss.
If you want amazing wifi speeds over a large distance or trough walls I would get the AX11000. I have it because my old routers which was 2x Tenda AC6 (1 transmitter and 1 repeater) could only manage 80 mbps download speed on a perfect day with ping of 40 - 100 on a 300 mbps network and the speed was usually much lower than that. When I changed to the TP-Link Archer AX11000 I got 300mbps download speed immediately and my ping got reduced to around 5ms and I have had that speed consistently everyday for months now and that's when the router is used alone without any repeater/range extenders. It is sending the signal from one building to another one because I don't live in the building where the router is standing so the signal goes trough 2 walls and maybe about 8-10 meters distance outside and I still have 300mbps on the 5GHz band.
You know what would be awesome with these router reviews? If you would actually test the throughput of 2.4/5ghz right next to it and further away. You cannot trust what they say and itll be much lower even while standing right next to it.
I own the TP-Link AX3000 (AX50), and I have owned and returned the TP-Link AX11000. Do not buy TP Link if you are willing to spend a small amount more and buy from better brands. TP-link dazzles with the marketing, amazes with specs vs pricepoint.. but owning their products has not been good to me. The AX3000 is 99% as good as the AX11000 outside of niche use cases for most peoples homes. I bought the AX11000 for the more beefy CPU and RAM in the router to handle more intra-network traffic like VR and 4K streaming. In every test, barely an upgrade from AX3000 to the AX11000. Tri-band wireless was nice and gave better network speeds farther from the router but we're talking about 10mbps from maybe 1-3 yards further away than the AX3000. Worst thing really about the AX11000 was the awful....AWFUL software. So many things given a "Gaming " label only to be the same basic, featureless features setup in my AX3000. Gaming Accelerator, don't use this it will mess with the speeds of all your devices in unexpected ways. QoS settings, you have to edit the download and upload speed of the download and upload caps in order for this router not to do its own faulty internet speed test...then adjusting your network speeds based on the faulty and often dramtically lower speed test it has done. Do not recommend the AX10000 and its identical cousin the AX11000. AX6000 is far better value but mostly the AX3000 is more than enough to even support basic wireless VR streaming, and 1080P streaming content. For better than that? The AX6000 is better but honestly after years of owning TP-Link and encountering their BS...I'm not buying their products anymore. I work from home, their devices more than once made it impossible to work. Not losing money when Asus is rock solid for 10% more spend.
Thanks for posting this! I just ordered the AX6000 for my home router! Got it and man is it an awesome router! I'm getting 120 mbps in my living room where I was only getting 30 to 40 mbps before. Removed two extenders also! It's great!
I'm in the UK and have BT full fibre 900 connection to my house. Looking for a router to (i) provide wi fi to gorund floor and also (ii) feed cat6 cable link to other floors in the house. BT smart hub 2 router not up to the job. Is TP AX 6000 router a better solution with correct standards for Huawei fibre-end terminal switch?
with 8 phones, 6 tablets, 4 laptops, 2 xbox, 4 smart tv, 2 locks, 16 bulbs, 6 amazon echos, 8 smartwatches, 3 printers, 2 NAS, on avg 6 guests and all other remaining useless stupid stuff....i think midrange ax6000 would be a good investment for next 5 years....until unless wifi 7 or 8 comes out.
I would really wanna know what the wired connection differences are. I always play games on a wired connection. So having good wifi is fun. But having a good wired connection has the priority
What hard drives work with the usb and usbc on the AX1100 - I am having trouble connecting a drive to the USB port. I do have a 1TB Western Digital SSD that works well it on both ports, but I want to get a large 8TB SSD hard to work with it. Thanks.
The argument used is wrong here. It's not that ISPs will ever provide over 1Gbps connections, the more important factor to consider is the REAL WORLD PERFORMANCE of these things. Router performance on the box can be twice or 6x the real world speeds you'll get, which IS the right reason to want the higher spec models. The 2400 marketed will likely be 300 in the real world, the 4800 to be 600, etc. etc. So if you do have a 1 gigabit service from your ISP, then you should look into the ones advertised as 11,000 or 6000mbps on the box, for you to get the most out of the service you're paying for. (For wireless devices that is) You could also just get a 10 dollar cable and a 20 dollar usb adapter to connect to your phone if you ever need those speeds on your phone for instance.

Tp link is crap..have the ax1500 and horrible wifi. covers one room and drops. cant do multiple streams in same browser. Do Not Buy. Get netgrear to d-link or belkin. Spend the extra 10 bucks. Troll ad.
Should I buy my first wifi 6 router or wait for the wifi7 routers to come? And I'm looking for wifi range so this tells me I'll have to buy the gaming routers + I do gaming
Don't buy it, they don't even have simply bandwidth control for each devices. if only one of your Kids download game from steam and all others drop out or lags.
1 thing to keep in mind is that even if u have wifi 6 adapters if your lan port does not support more than 1gbps u wont get faster wifi speeds. therefor i dont understand wifi 6 routers that dont support 2.5gbps wan ports what the point ?
This was a great video. I am glad I found this. My access point went and died on me so I had to go back to the Verizon Fios router from my ISP, it is almost unbearable. I had not even looked at TP-Link until now. I was very happy to see that you showed the devices, connections and antenna actuations in detail. The packaging illustrations were clear and really added value to the video. I also liked that you showed off the mobile app. Thanks for being awesome!
This is great.. Question What about compatibility with my cable company how does that set up work with security issues? Thanks Love channel and keep up the good work...!!
In the research I've done, it's your modem that you need to ensure is compatible with your ISP. This can be answered by googling "is [name of modem] compatible with [ISP, e.g. Xfinity, RCN, Centurylink, etc]."
Doesn't matter if ISP increase speeds. If your wifi speed is 6564576578867456 GB/s and your connector only supports 1 GB/s then you still only have 1 GB/s So yeah, meh
AESTHETIC QUESTION: Are the Red Stripes on the aerials of the AX11000 stickers/decals that can be peeled off? - Or are they actually painted on? I ask because I'm about to order this, and would like to avoid an uncomfortable conversation about purchasing more "gaming paraphernalia" with my fiancée.
I got AX3000 today and as other were saying, it heats a lot, it is coldest winter in 119 years in India and it is toasty on top and bottom surfaces and summers here are extremely hot (around 50 degree celcius), what will happen to this router in summers?!!! And it doesn't have WDS/Bridging capability that even a $15 dollar tp link router has. I operate some routers in bridging mode which is ideal and only solution to connect two routers without ethernet wires. NOT GOOD TP-LINK!

My BEC 6300NEL RIDGEWAVE R15 LTE i upgraded to TP-Link AX1500 i like it 👍 since my LTE Modem pretty slow it only has 2.4ghz wifi im unable To login into my main modem 😥 my ISP Bravado Wireless
Production of this video is high quality. Content... not so much. The AX standard is not yet ratified so any AX router/AP is not going to have the full features that the standard is going to have. Most clients are not ax capable and it will take you some time for all your clients to transition to AX (which is backward compatible) but you will not be able to utilize all the AX potential as long as you still have older clients. Finally the tri band is not a standard. Evey vendor has its own implementation, do not expect miracles from those devices. I am not saying those are bad products but they are not magic. Don't go throwing marketing theoretical numbers, most devices will never reach them in real world practice.
th ax11000 is a overkill for everybody unless you have over 50 devices utilizing it to transfer data up to 500 MB/s and still maintain stability. this is unreal but you can buy anyway? i think archer c80 is the best price/perfomance.
A 'Gaming' router won't increase the bandwidth provided by your ISP. 500mb/s has only just become easily available here in the UK. Gigabit is still hard to come by. Gigabit Ethernet/ WiFi for Gigabit Fibre is about as far as you should be looking ahead. IMHO
I had the tp link ax11000 but after the oneMesh addition the speed dropped to 90 mbit. And still they deny the issue because I've read reports of months ago the first users issued this problem. After a phone call with their support they tried to blame my cables, I got tired of it. I've returned it and switched to Asus routers. Also their mesh solution is much better. Through my whole house 400+ mbit speeds now and stable.
@@willn8664 I was able to fish ethernet cables through my house without issue. It's not expensive, and it's pretty easy too if you know what you're doing.
just upgraded some wires from cat5e to 6 even though cat5e is good for up to gigabit speed. i have the verizon gigabit speed so thinking up upgrading the older asus RT-AC66R wich still handles up to 1gig but i want more ports and a router ready for the future...so thnking between the 5400 or 6000 or 11000 but i guess they all have reviews either about perfomance or firmware.
@@willn8664 with Asus you get Merlin and that is the most important "feature" you can get in any router. Vendor firmware typically becomes stable years after release (assuming they even keep up with it). I've gone through dozens of routers from every manufacturer... I keep coming back to Asus routers just because of AsusWRT-Merlin. I should also mention I have well over 25 devices on my network, between laptops, tablets, phones, NESTs, Echo's, Chromecasts, printer, smart-everything... so compatibility is important.
I now regret ordering the ax50 (Tp-Link Archer) because Im seeing reviewers saying that the actually good features remain after a trial goes away. You end up paying a subscription to keep the features you thought you already had for free.
Colour me clueless but I had no idea that a router affected the speed of the computer. I ordered the AX6000 today. That should take care of any issues I've been having recently. Thanks for the review.
I'm in India nd i got 250mbps speed data .. does tplink ax3000 run at its best? I mean i wanna know wat is the minimum mbps required to get use of the wifi 6 router?
The actual performance also depends on the connected devices, if those don't support WiFi6 natively then no matter how powerful your router is, you'll never get the highest speeds.
Never leave the antenas folded. They're not supposed to point at each other. On the contrary they're supposed to be at a distance from each other as designed when unfolded.
I know this video is old, however, I wouldl have more appreciated if the heating issue was also addressed with the Intel chips of TP-Link one which also causes disruptions and damage. I have researched on multiple website to reach this conclusion.
Just bought this ,router and a nighthawk cm1200 módem ,i still have the spectrum kit and I’m able to get to 450 500 gps. Wud this purchase benefit my network ? I have a lot of clients for my current equipment ..and apparently it getting overwhelmed, the equipment i got it branded EEBE ...and I could never get spectacle on the router and modem ...thanks !!
