I've just stumbled on your series as I do some research for my own hike....and guess what, I remember you and Steve! I was one of the Paramedics that helped to get Steve out and down to hospital. Nice to see him smiling in this video and great to hear it didnt derail your hike too much. I look forward to watching the rest of the series :D

Oh wow. Thanks so much for your help that day! It turned out to be a severely infected gallbladder with a one inch stone stuck in the tube. We were looked after so well by everyone and really appreciate it :) . I hope you enjoy the series and, more importantly, your hike. Feel free to hit us up with any questions.

Caroline, thanks so much for making these videos. I started watching them early last year before commencing our sectional end-to-end, and would dip back into your series as each episode was uploaded. Over the months we'd add more and more sections to our walk until we finally completed the entire length earlier this year. Now, I still enjoy dipping into your docos to remind me of the various sections of the track, and how fabulous our Bib Walk was. It brings back with such clarity the beauty of the Bib. Many thanks.

Just wondering with this first episode if you had to skip from Helena to Mt Dale as I don’t recognise anything from around Waalegh and Beraking. I do hope you didn’t have to skip that section as those campsites have gorgeous views over the Helena Valley (and a couple of good hills...). Loving watching your walk and the memories it brings back of my own end to end. Thanks for All your efforts and extra steps walked and gear carried so you could make it.

That's exciting! We found it important to prepare mentally that there will be bad days, and that's ok. It's all part of the experience. Walk at your own pace, don't feel you need to rush, and staying in town to relax and look around is worth it. Also, look after your feet. Thin toe socks under your hiking socks works wonders to avoid blisters. For any more tips or if you have any questions feel free to email greatwalksoftheworld@gmail.com

@GreatWalksoftheWorld
@GreatWalksoftheWorld Год назад
Yes, walk the track. It's amazing and anyone can do it. We posted to our pre-booked accommodation, and contacted them as a courtesy. You can also send to some visitors centres. How much to send depends on what type of food you eat and how much you plan to buy in town (some towns have more than others, while some have nothing), and how many days each section will take. It does take a fair bit of planning to be prepared. Others just wing it. Best advice is to contact the Bibbulmun track foundation for their advice, or jump on the facebook pages.

This is great, just started watching as we want to do the track. Do you know how many kg’s you carried?
@GreatWalksoftheWorld
@GreatWalksoftheWorld 3 года назад
I hope you get the chance. It's such a great journey. Our packs were heavier than normal due to film gear, but recommend you aim for a base weight (no food and water) of around 12 kg. Steve maxed out at 26kg at the start with enough food for Kala to Dwellingup and 8kg of film gear. The lighter the better, so try to trim off anything you won't absolutely need. You will also be able to shed some of the warmer clothes as you get further south, but it can still get chilly so not too much. One great trick is to send a 'bounce box' along the trail from town to town, so you don't have to carry all your in town supplies like toiletries and spare clothes. Just be wary of when the post office is closed in each town.
