I have bow legs. I cycle, jog/run, row. Hasn't got in the way. I'm 70 years old Been like this from the beginning. Hasn't stopped me on doing things...
I know a man who used to be very severely bow-legged until he had double knee replacement operations done when he was in his mid-70s. Several months after the replacements he greeted me at a party, and I did not recognize him until he was walking away and other guests were greeting him by his name. Not only were his legs perfectly straight, but he was also at least 3 inches taller than before!
Bob & Brad, you give many examples on how to make bowlegs worst. This is the proof that we can change the shape. If we take you well thought out list of how to exacerbate the problem and do the opposite 1 Buy shows with outer edge raised. 2. Stand correct 3 The leg support to push legs together, the staves. 4. I am going to greatly increase the inner thy muscles and decrease the outer thy muscles so the muscles are pulling my legs back into alignment - Mine was cause mostly by walking in flipflop sandals as a world traveler for 25 years. I now only wear good shoes, or sandals with back straps Life is good. Andy Lee Graham
I have bow legs with knee pain. The specialist recommended total knee replacement for OA. I happened to see a podiatrist's youtube video who explained ankle alignment affects the knee alignment. He said shoe inserts (Dr Scholl' "Knee" shoe inserts--make sure it says for "Knee" pain) will correct the knee alignment. I couldn't believe something so simple could really help (my expensive "off loading" knee braces were not helping much) So for the price of a Starbucks, I have virtually eliminated my knee pain! Shoe inserts Work! (This is an unsponsored testimonial- I have no affiliation with Dr Scholl's)
My fate was sealed when my father introduced me to pc games when I was in kindergarten to pacify me. It's a source to a lot of problems I have today. To the kids watching this, please take care of your body posture and development or you'll regret all the mistakes you'll have to fix when you're older
@@zwnj9436 Learn proper posture for everything; walking, sitting, exercising, ect. Stretch and stimulate your bones/muscle. Exercise is key. If you sit around alot, try to take breaks inbetween and stretch/move around. Keep in mind that the human body is not made to sit idly for long, we're built to stay on our feet. Strengthen your lower body like your hips, glutes and hamstrings. Practice more mobility exercises rather than pure muscle building, your strengthened joints will thank you. There are plenty of information you can find online for free. You're young so your body heals quickly, so if you have any misalignment or a crooked skeletal structure, better work on it now while you have the young healing factor. If you have supportive parents, be sure to stay open with them on your growth. Correct vitamins, nutrition, proper exercise/stretches are all key to developing a strong body. To grow tall, have all your bones in place and have a sound mind. I understand it's not easy with all the current distractions and modern toys that can ruin your posture, just stay aware of your actions and make it a habit to catch yourself when in bad posture
@zwnj just move around all the time, hang from monkey bars or upside down , and swing your body around and stretch. Not quite sure what this guys pertaining to on how pc gaming affected him or how old he is.
If I may ... a proper computer chair. Not those gaming chairs that look good but are not really good quality.. also try doing some exercise if your body is ok for it. Simple stuff like jogging is good for your heart. And have fun.
@@TheMrbiggs Bow legs, tight crooked hips, a slightly crooked spine, weak foot grip, I can go on(especially psychologically) but I grew up in a strange dysfunctional family born in a cult so I guess I was screwed either way. I've corrected most of em but it's still a pain to deal with... that's what happens when your parents neglect your body's development
I have bow legs....if you are physically active ... Few major problems i would mention that your anterior tibial muscles will get weak because of the deformity and they will be painful..plus your lateral side of feet gonna have more pressure, making it painful on that side because of the inversion of the feet..plus you gonna have painful gluteus medius coz of that deformity...so massage would help alot..shin splint exercises gonna help lot and for feet you can add on custom orthotics which can even out the pressure on feet..hope it helps docs😁😁😁..and by the way i love your content❣️
I am bow legged. The bones in my tibia and fibula are curved. There is some discussion that over time, the thinning of the cartilage on the interior sides of the knee are stressed more because of the non-straight line of ankle to knee. Perhaps you could review bow legs, OA, running, and knee pain. I am a runner and I am 60. and I have knee pain, but have been reducing the pain, and improving my range of motion and function with the advice on this channel. thanks guys.
Hello I was there and ran a lot and I have bowl legs and pain. I have done there exercises and it has worked. I continue to decrease the pain, good food worked, with no or little alcohol, yes less pain. I think I have done all message therapy, and it worked some, But I have given in and need to do more, I still work for my self, wood working and more. 70 years old, Healthy Mentally and physically strong. My knees to be corrected and now surgery is now I will have this done on Monday the 15 of may. Just one leg I am hoping I can get away with just 1 and make the stronger and decrease the pain to were I can make it as long as I can live. I will post the out come next week.
Thank you for the videos B & B. Do you recommend a particular brand/seller of knee brace with metal staves and range of motion hinge? Asking for a friend !
I am 17 years old and i always lack calcium and vitamin D , i have one bowed leg and i cant walk like normal people do can i fix my leg with proper vitamins and exercise?
I’m 13 and my legs are super bow legged and it just hurts to walk and everybody makes fun of me when I walk because I kind of waddle and it hurts to try and walk normally
I’m SO SORRY you’re being made fun of for the way you walk. Kids can be so thoughtless and cruel at times, God bless them. 🙏🏾 Please be encouraged and remember NO ONE is perfect. Everyone has their flaw(s) and insecurities. 💯 I had to learn this over time, but “People are people.” 😅 We’re all on the SAME LEVEL, with no one more “cool,” and all of us simply yearning to be loved and understood. NEVER think yourself less than any other. 👏🏾 Be confident, my friend! Stand tall, my friend! And maybe tell those kids, “Yo, chill! I’m bow legged. You have no idea how painful it is, and I hope you never do!” 😉 God bless you. Keep your head up, young King or Queen 💛
Make sure you eat your vegetables and get enough of two things daily, vitamin d and calcium. Vitamin d you can get from the sun on your skin for 20 minutes outside. Hope they get better. Brocolli has calcium
I'm trying to buy the massaging gun but the coupon for the $40 off is gone😭 I had it in my cart last night and tried to buy it this morning with no luck.
Try this link: amzn.to/36pMekg. The coupon should still be there. If you still don’t see it, try deleting it out of your cart and redoing it. If that still doesn’t help, buy it and send your order number via email to customerservice@bobandbrad.com We will refund you the discounted price
I'm still a teen, quite close to being an adult. Wil my legs still straighten out naturally or is that time done? I feel quite insecure about it atp, cant wear skin tight pants anymore...
I'm 23 years old and just realized my legs is bowed. I was know there's something wrong at my legs. I was thought one of them is taller or shorter than the other. I trying to learn Taekwondo and it's make it harder
I joined taekwondo classes 7 months ago, I also started rigorous workout. Not for bow legs, but for a variety of other reasons. So apart from building great muscles in legs, I also noticed that my bow legs are strating to mitigate. Currently I reckon my bow legs are 80 per cent improved. I think obesity (fat in thighs) can also excerbate this issue.
There are less invasive PT exercises and stretches options, that are not discussed in this video. Of course this depends on what is causing the bowed legs and how long they have been bowed too. Do more research
Hello, I have bow legs and I'm only 15yrsold. is their any possible solution that won't pay money, cause I think I'm too broke.. Guessing that a surgery might costs half of my life. I been walking awkwardly and when I take Pic, all I can notice was my legs being weird to look at. Even when I sit my legs still look weird.. Are the exercises here on YT can change it? Or are those really effective, I saw a lot of comments that the exercise works. Some said it took long enough to actually have normal legs doing that exercise, so just a question does that exercise works even if takes a year or two? And based on what I have searched, mine might have become bowlegs because of how I sit. I usually sit on the floor crossed legs for the past 2 years because I mostly on my phone and Im comfortable with it during those times. Now I regret it.. It also affected my back, I get back pains because of it as well.. My mom said I'm still young so there's still time to fix my back.. But I'm not sure if I can still change my bow leg..
I’m 14yo and everytime i see my pics it looks so weird and I searched exercise for bow legs I did it for like 2months but it didn’t work , I have no clue there is no way than getting surgery and it costs too much ,that’s the biggest insecurity in my life…
Wow I'm 18 right now and i really thought i could do something about it before it got worse but if knee replacement is the only way i might just do that now, i rather for it to be a problem now than to be a problem later
Bow leggedness could be a symptom of muscle weaknesses and imbalances in the legs. Your bones might be straight but the muscles around your knees might be weak forcing the knee to go outward. It might be fixable with exercises depending on what causes the bowleggedness. If you're bowleggedness because of a skeletal deformity then surgery is the way to go. If the bowleggedness comes from muscle weaknesses, then it is fixable with exercises
@@enzikenj9840 shit i don’t know, thing about me is im pretty skinny so its pretty noticeable when wearing shorts but if i grow muscles around my calves area and thighs I’ll probably just live with it. I would get surgery but i don’t want that to ruin my training legs, they’ll get skinny again and i don’t know if I’ll be able to push heavy after surgery even once im recovered
You don't address obesity causing bowed legs. 150# plus weight loss. I like your videos to help me understand how to correct the damage I have done to my body. Thank you for fun and educational content
What do you think about HTO surgery for bow leg? And is it better to fix bow leg by surgery in younger age (in your 20s) to prevent complete knee replacement at older age?
The answer is yes. This can prevent TKR. I had it done to my right knee for that reason (bowlegged 12 degrees in both knees) and such a big difference in stability and pain reduction, almost zero pain. I had the same pain in the inside of knees. I had the ibalance HTO. That was 2 years ago. It does make your leg straight, a little longer, about 1/2 ", so I was walking with limp. I recently did the left to even things out. One last thing, I was 50 and with pain, but they wanted me to wait until 65 to do tkr.
HELLO there, i wanna thank you for your recommendation or treatments tutorials but i got a question for you - have you ever heard about " BOW LEGS NO MORE " book is that real or its SCAM.....pleas help me with this!??
Not part of this subject but I need to ask. Do you know much about SIRVA? I had a pneumonia shot during my welcome to medicare appointment. It's been over a month and I can't lift my arm. Putting a on a shirt or combing my hair is very painful. Can this be fixed?
We do not have a video on this. I have added it to our to do list and hopefully we can get a video uploaded to RU-vid in the near future. Thank you for the suggestion !
My knees are getting extremely bowed due to bone on bone arthritis on the inside of my (both) knees and painful on a daily basis. I’m 57, am I a candidate for knee replacements or too young as a Dr advise me at a consultation? I am diabetic but controlled and have a 7 A1C.
I appear to have one bow leg, and that legs knee has pain and arthritis. The shoes on that side wear out uneven. Is there a place for people like me on this planet? 😥
@natsuaya The first bit you wrote about not being able to have tights and so on is about society tho. You don’t want to wear them because your legs look weird but if you didn’t care about society then you would’ve just used them
If you didn’t have it before at all, but have developed it from sitting, you might just have knocked knees. I’d definitely look into seeing if exercises correct it
@@bryanvega6295 not sure if its genetics but i used to go to school and sit all day and come home and sit for the rest of the day so that could be the issue, thanks for the information
Nobody in my school has bowlegs as far as i can see which makes me feel so insecure and im sure other teachers have noticed my slight bow legs. Overall it bothers me so much that i cant focus on my studies very well especially in school
Hopefully this video helped you. I hope you can find a way to feel less insecure as everyone is made differently, we all have things that are unique about us. It's harder when you're younger to see that, however try to remind yourself of that when you are feeling insecure. You can use this video to help, but ultimately try to accept yourself, as well as others, the way they are. Your studies are very important as well for your future, so don't let other people or differences in yourself stand in your way to make your life great!
@@BobandBrad 😂Nope! It’s even harder when you get older and arthritis kicks in and you can’t sleep at night and some days you can barely walk. I thank my mother for not wanting to “be cruel” and let me wear those braces when I slept when I was a kid. I’d say to fix it before the real suffering happens.
Hiiii b&b big love for you and much respect for this use full information the point is not how hard the exercise i was been my whole life sport man but i have knee proplem since my childhood sadly my left foot got oval shap towards outside you think this exercise couldn help to got back my foot in the right place B, v , i don't have exact balanced My right foot more stronger than the leeft With all respect i gonna wait your answer plzzzz thank you so much again and sorry for my English
I’m 17 and jointing the marines in 10 months but my knees are starting to hurt Nd thought it was pain from football from when I played but I realized my knees are starting hurt Nd they were bow leg, thank god explained the causes of bowleg cause I always leave on one leg at work just outta habit Nd didn’t realize this is the cause of it
Yup you can The general rule is.. When doing leg day keep ur toes forward and closest to each other This way you emphasize the outer side of ur leg giving u the bowed leg appearance
There really isn’t a test or movement. For the most part bowed legs is just a visual issue. I’d say if the space between your knees is 2 inches or more you are probably bow legged.
I have bowlegs with bad pain walking. Had the worst knee replaced a year ago. Walking hip pain is now my new standard. I'm realizing surgeries do not fix all problems and I'll just have to deal with it the rest of my life. I'm 62 now and it's been suggested by some to try some medical marijuana , maybe that'll work. You're video didn't really have any useful info
I have bowed legs and it seems to be taking a toll on my ankles and knees and possibly my back. I'm a scaffolder and I skateboard. Feel like I'm doomed
I have bow legs I am 42 yrs old I am plus size black i sometimes get pain in one of my legs but for most times my legs are fine because I like to walk a lot . I get heckle about it in a positive way.
I think the natural gait from people who live in nature and spend less time doing the sedentary western lifestyle shows that significant weight on the outside edge of the feet is better than the inside edge along with feet pointed straight. In Western society with its hundreds of thousands of knee and knee cartilage (ACL, MCL, meniscus, etc.) surgeries a year the trend is weight on the inside and feet pointed out which is how you end up tearing things up. The moral of the story is keep your feet straight, butt slightly behind rib cage, and most weight on the outside edge of your feet OR do whatever the heck you wanna do, just be ready for some pain and potentially surgeries.
You are saying that knock knees can be cured but bow legs can not be cured because you can not change the shape of bones. For knock knee also you will have to change the shape of bones. Bow legs are invertible of knock knees in bow legs bones are outward but in knock knee it is inward in both case you will have to change shape of bones. Why bow legs cured not possible??
You know I love everything you guys are saying and all the comments below these are on severe cases but one thing you didn't address if some children are born in a small womb the mother so tiny the father is a big guy and that baby had to stay in that small womb 9mo where does their legs go they end up bowed and all they need is corrective shoes is anyone on here that has bowlegs was born with bowlegs and had the corrective shoes and still have bow legs or maybe you weren't given the corrective shoes or is this just a platform to talk about diseases and the real heavy stuff because there are sometimes just a simple answer as the womb was just too small
My daughter was born bow legged, because i was too small. She gave me problems during my whole pregnancy, especially labor! She started walking at 8 months old. Shes almost 19 months and theyre trying too break her legs but im gonna try the corrective boots/braces first but if not shes gonna have to get the surgery.
My mother was 4'-11', all of 90lbs, and carried me nearly 10mos. I wore a leg brace, and shoes on the wrong foot, for x-amount of time as an infant and toddler. I ran XC and Track in high school, and XC through 2 years of college. I first noticed my legs were bowed, in about my Freshman or Sophomore year in high school. I'm 58 now, and of course still have bowed legs. I'm still a runner, on trails, not roads and sidewalks, train year round, and do stuff like run R2R and Rim2River at the Grand Canyon (8 R2R's in the last 7yrs and 4 Rim2Rivers in the last 2 years). The knee pain is becoming worse, and more frequent/prevalent. I had my knees x-rayed this week, and saw a specialist today. The insides of both knee joints look like all the other x-rays you see in videos on YT about bowed legs. The doctor couldn't believe that I run at all, let alone that I do stuff like R2R and the training it takes for it. The key.....I started running in Vibram FiveFingers in 2012. Vids on my channel. Anyway, back to the point, I am considering the leg straighten surgery, after the sobering consult today. I'm also going to do stem cell with PRP injections in both knees.
@@alicea4114 Hmmm, honestly, I think it has to do with vitamin a, children are usually very high in vitamin a levels, and vitamin a depletes vitamin k2 which is responsible for putting calcium into the bones and teeth... Anytime I go a long time without vitamin a and especially supplementing with k2 I seem to be less bow legged.
