Yes, I have it on pre-order. I am not a professional and like the APS-C size for lightweight travel. I shoot both photos and videos and now I am trying to decide on just one A6700 to go along with my A6600 or to get a second A6700 and sell the A6600.

E is reviewing this from a sports videographer's perspective (which is why we came here) and his point is on the money. If you plan to film a lot of 4k120 then get the FX30, period. But if you are a hybrid shooter, or a sports shooter who doesn't always need 4k120 then the a6700 is a great...maybe best, option!

That is not how heat dissipation works. Also ambient temperature will play a huge part in how much heat a device outputs, humidity too. Any workload that doesnt stress the cooling system to its maximum will by default keep the ability of the device to keep working, if the heat produced is greater than the dissipation then you get into overheating issues. Most channels ive seen that reviewed the a6700 found no overheating in 4k24/30/60, only in 4k120. PetaPixel seem to be one of a few that had different results. In the sony menus you can change the overheat temperature, maybe in their tests they hadn't done that. Anyway, as a hybrid camera it still seems like a pretty decent product.

Check overheating reviews with this cam in South Florida! If u like Vegas roll-of-the-dice, this is the perfect cam for such an individual. Even where I live in minus plus more sometimes like minus 60 in Northern Alaska (by the way, very low humidity here), I'm saving the Sony Order Pages for Such Brave Souls as Maybe you who have super erudite explanations. Have fun with this cam if u get it, plz report back to Our Leader when the next UFO lands. 😎😎

And if you have issues, external battery and external screen/recorder are a go to as these are the parts that overheat in a camera. You can also open up the battery door and the sd door

My use is mostly photography with occasional video so the A6700 suits my purpose. I have a Sony A7RII that I use mostly for landscape photography. My old trusty A6000 has been my hiking/backpacking/street photography camera. So the A6700 is a long overdue and worthwhile upgrade. It will do everything that my old A6000 did but better with regards to AI autofocus/better ergonomics with the new front dial and full touch menu plus give a significant upgrade for video and vlogging use. I think Sony did enough of an upgrade and kept the size of the camera small and the price down to keep a lot of Sony shooters who mainly do photography in the Sony ecosystem satisfied with the value of this update. You do make a good point regarding the overheating especially in 4k 120p so yes the FX-30 is a more suitable APSC video camera for sports. Since most of the heat is generated by the battery, I wonder if using a dummy battery connected to a USB-C power bank will extend the recording time in 4K 120p🤔

Absolutely! I have far too many APS-C lenses not to and already have the FX30. It’s primary function will be still photography and backup video in a pinch. Appreciate the heads up though.

Yes, l bought it, and I don’t care about the fan! If I did, I’d buy the camera that has a fan. I think it is a great wildlife camera, cropped for extra distance but still with 27 megapixels, excellent AI autofocus for animals and birds taken from A7RV(at a 60% discount), light and portable rig with the Sony 150-400 GM or the 200-600 G and a 1.4 or 2.0 teleconverter. Different cameras for different uses.

It’s just practice, experience and a good lens. I film everything handheld with a wide zone autofocus and an aperture somewhere between F2.8 and F4.

Yes the ZV-E10 is still the camera that I recommend for beginners on a budget and the 18-105mm F4 works well with it.

when there is written 30 minutes of recording time, does it mean that it was one 30 minute video that was filmed which caused it to overheat ?

Not necessarily. Like I said in the video, if you record 30 minutes of content 1-2 minutes at a time, your camera will overheat.

I normally agree with you or follow your advice. I see the a6700 as a good camera to have when you don't pack an FX camera or you want something smaller than a7 style camera. Or you are shooting with your FX30 and something goes wrong or and you have a small a6700 in you pocket/bag to keep you going until you can resolve the your FX30 issues. Everything you said it 100 if you are making it a primary camera for sports, but as an everyday camera or backup its a good affordable option.

Well, what an interesting viewpoint: Backup! So let's put it this way. Imagine that u just bought a brand-new-BMW which doesn't overheat in the fast lane on the Los Angeles Freeway & u decide to get a backup car, you know just in case. So you hunt all over town & finally find the perfect back up Car: The Model T Ford! Good luck with that car on the freeway when your BMW breaks down on you. @@gbwalther3198 I’ve had the a6700 for 3 weeks and ilive In Sunny south FL. For the outdoor recording I do it’s never overheat. But that’s all casual stuff, if I was getting paid, I’d have my FX3, but for non paid work or as a complementary camera it’s been the best Model-T Ford for the money.

@@gbwalther3198 The bad thing is camera companies are not releasing solid products. Overheating shouldn't be a topic in 2023 unless its a startup company. The Big 3 should release camera bodies that work with the electronics inside. if it has to be bigger yeah people will complain but they won't complain about it not working reliably. Great chat!

Isn't it how every camera is though? Once they overheat, they need to cool off before being able to shoot again. And I agree with the fx30. That is significantly a better video camera. a6700 is mainly for hybrid shooters that mainly shoots photos. a6700 is perfect for me, I like to shoot photos and shoot some videos as well. I intend to get the fx30 later if I ever get into videography. For learning and testing the waters, a6700 is more than enough.

Well yes, once a camera overheats, the cooling down process is the same for all. But not all cameras overheat. My point was to buy one that doesn’t overheat if you plan to film entire sporting events in 4K/120. Like the FX30 for example.

@@BeyondTheGame_E You are absolutely right, this is obviously NOT sport video camera - get the fx30 or fx3 instead if you want to shoot a lot of 4k high frame rate. But the A6700 is to my opinion a hybrid camera intended for mostly stills shooters who want ocassionally record some short video clips mostly of 4k 30, maybe some 4k 60. I'm personally a 90% stills guy, and if I'll be recording in 120 frames per second, I'll switch to 1080...

I luv it, there's a new health syndrome for the classification text: Denial Syndrome. By the way, my Sony a6000 (a genius of a hybrid camera according to some is an OVERHEATING MONSTER and shuts down whenever it gets a temper tantrum (which is quite often). The loss of money hurts, but I'm honest. What I luv about this video, the guy has the guts to call the shots as they are. U can tell just from that he's also a great basketball-soccer player & probably baseball player (talk about home-runs!)! Good luck with your a6700 if u are brave enough to pick one up! 😎😎

sony a6800 de bu sorun ortadan kalkar diye düşünüyorum. Bence can sıkıcı bir durum paranla makinanı tam anlamıyla kullanamıyorsun. beni sony a7c ii almaya zorluyor. Full Frame makinalarında kötü tarafı lensleri çok pahalı. İnsan çıldırıyor bu durumda.

just bought the a6700 with 18-105mm f4, the camera does heat up considerably while shooting basetkball in 4k120 since i'm living in malaysia, but with the quality and flexibility to switch between photgraphy and video, i definitely think its worth tolerating the heat

It depends how you operate. If you film on-and-off all day, I would go with the FX30. But if you only film for about 45mins to an hour in a day, then maybe the A6700 is enough for you.

Sports videography is my main thing. So question, I am good with S-Cinetone straight out of camera, would 8-Bit increase record time. Most important for me in this camera is 4k60 in the small form factor combined with other improvements.

To be completely honest, I have no idea since it wasn't mentioned in any of the tests I've seen. But, since I've never seen an 8-bit vs 10-bit overheating test, my guess is that it doesn't make much of a difference.

May I ask as I can’t afford the fx3 or fx30. What does you think about the Sony A7 III for sports videography (soccer) as me and my team are looking for something more affordable and I’m worried about poor battery life and overheating cameras like my A6400. Also E I would like to say ur channel Is the channel that has helped me sooooo much in understanding sports videography and u recommend you to so many please please know what u do is so vital, important and impactful. Thank you for your kind words 🙏🏽 And yes, the A7III is a great option for a smaller budget. This used to be a very popular camera. It recently lost its appeal because there are so many new cameras that have come out recently with new features that this camera doesn't have. But it is still a solid camera.

@@adecole859 If you already have a Sony A6400, just keep using that until you can afford an FX30. That's what I would do. You could get an A6500 but the improvement won't be that great.

With the fx30 being 1600$ lately, i find no reason not to get it over the a6700, the dual card slot along with proxy recording, zero overheating is enough to pay the extra 200$ I just wish sony gives us the firmware in the a6700 tho. Also did you notice how the image are way richer with the fx30 vs fx3? I shoot with both but am always amazed with the little guy ;)

I mentioned the two channels that did the tests. You can go visit them directly for the first hand info. But so far it appears that many reviewers had very different results in similar conditions, except in 4K/120. That one is pretty consistent across the board.

True but in sports when you're filming entire games, recording in ProRes or Raw on the Ninja V creates a LOT of data and gets very expensive.

And a lot of them would assume that spending that much money on a camera like this would solve all their problems. You say clickbait, I say helpful. Appreciate the candid nature of this video and sharing valuable information here. Unfortunately it seems most YourTubers don't want to upset their relationship with Sony or their sponsors to be more forthcoming with the shortcomings. I'm not sure which way to go here. Looking for a second body and something smaller, and am more of stills shooter but gradually doing more video. So the A6700 appears to be a nice fit. Can definitely see the advantages of the FX30 but do wish there was some option for an EVF.

It's sports videography. Most people record the entire game in 4K/120 if their camera allows it (myself included). I record it all in small bursts but, as mentioned in the video, the recording time limit applies to your overall recording time, not the individual clips.

You clearly didn’t notice a pretty obvious fact, which is the fact that I don’t have the A6700 camera so I can’t tell you what comes with it in the box. But it is quite common these days for Sony to not include a battery charger with their cheaper camera models. Instead there is a USB-C cable that you can use to connect the camera to a power outlet or a computer and charge the battery that way.

Yes but the A6300 does not shoot in 4K/60p or 4K/120p. And it doesn’t shoot in 10-bit at any frame rate. So, it’s normal that it doesn’t heat up as much and fast as a camera that’s way more powerful but in the same body.

@@BeyondTheGame_E It's not the R5. Its continuous record time, no total record time. Common!! Turning off you camera between shots you will be fine. FX30 is better for video and you dont have to worry. But this is ok for casual clips.

@nyambe first of all, when filming a sporting event where anything can happen at any time, turning off your camera between shots is definitely not an option. And it is total recording time. There’s no such thing as a camera that cools down by itself without a cooling system. Once the temperature goes up, it’s up. It doesn’t magically goes down because you stopped recording.

Just to be clear, it doesn’t fix anything. It just gives you an extra 12 to 20 minutes of recording time depending on your conditions.

@@BeyondTheGame_E I’m gonna be using it Indoor with air conditioning for the summer, so the room temps don’t get too hot, plus I have some friends telling me they don’t over heat with it and by the sd card maxes out before they do. I’m mainly getting it for event photography and podcast + live streams 😁

A most of Sony’s alpha series cameras have similar issues with overheating because they are built first and foremost to take photos but have capabilities for video.

Airjet new solid state coolers would be ideal for this camera, I wonder if there's room for one of those, they are not very thick at all. I bet someone will open one up and mod one in but that might void the warranty I guess.
