Congrats o/o Josh!!! Good for you to take the plunge. You've done your research and have used your resources (like your very cool and wise Dad) to know the pros and cons of owning vs being a company driver - before you bought a truck. And a very fine truck it is! (By the way, you're about to notice for the first time that diesel fuel is hella expensive! I'll bet that within a month you'll be vlogging about how driving down the highway at 80km/h(50mph) will get you an extra 0.0005 miles per gallon. lol)

I don't know about in Canada but here in the states a 2003 or older truck doesn't have all the egr and other yuckie stuff that always gives you trouble. Good luck. Good luck with the new truck! I know you talked about how cramped the Peterbilt was, but I never understood until I saw the new truck. I think it was a good move to not go for a more expensive truck. I agree on your pick. So many people rationalize going for a big-dollar purchase and end up in debt. The stuff that wears out has been changed. If the engine is not using oil and has good pressure, it has a lot of life left!

Congratulations! I drive a 2000 International 9400 with a Detroit Series 60 and an AutoShift (3,300 gallon water tender for the local fire department). The transmission is pretty amazing, but not fireman-proof. It'll be interested to hear how you feel about the transmission in a few months ... like maybe you'll kinda miss the manual. Really enjoy your vlog. -Tom

I got into truck driving from taxi-ing. That was my Dad's industry. The diff is Dad did Everything to keep me out of it. If he knew I got my class 1 I think he would think I was crazy but we'd have hours of fun talking about it. I'm semi-retiring into trucking from teaching. Hope your Dad is keeping well. Cherish him while you have him.

Are you nervous becoming a OO? More money but more responsibility. My brother was a company driver for 1+ years than became a OO. He experienced a couple issues in the beginning with his 2011 Prostar but now things seem to be going well.

You may want to think about western star for your next truck, they are enormous inside. And they look great too. Plus you can get them serviced anywhere you get your freightliner serviced. Would be a good choice for your next step in a few years time. Anywho, nice rig! I love peterbilt but they are too small.
